Shot my first football game the other day. Here are a few highlights....

hey linda...thanks...first game..shot almost 300 pics (way to many) but got the chance to shoot in natural light..low light..and artifical light..learned some about how to adjust settings to still get a decent pic.
The guys in black are both my boys..#20 is a senior..rushed for almost 100 yards in three quarters...#3 is a sophmore...3 sacks, 2 pressures, and lead team in tackles.....yea, I'm a proud dad!!

I have loved reading all the posts and gives me comfort that there are a lot of people who are experiencing the same thing as me. I too miss both my parents, still. My mom died 9 years ago from ovarian cancer and my Dad died 6 years ago after a long battle with renal failure and being on dialysis as a result. I cared for both my parents for years while they were ill. We had always been close and saw each other almost every day of my life. The last few years we all lived together while I was working full time, married and raising two boys. I was so busy with everything that I did not have time to stop and think about what was going to happen when they were gone. I miss them terribly every day and wish I would have just stopped and talked for hours on end to them while they were ill instead of doing the laundry, cleaning the house or grocery shopping or cooking. I am thankful I was able to provide them a safe home to live in and never had to place either one in a nursing home. Both boys are now grown and away from home, my husband works out of town a lot and recently my Uncle (my Mom's brother) has moved in with us after having several mini strokes and can no longer live alone. This has brought back the memories of caring for my Mom and Dad and makes me miss them more and more. I still work full time and this was a huge adjustment as my husband & I were just getting used to being empty nesters and had begun taking trips. We have adjusted accordingly and I am thankful once again that I am able to give my Uncle the care he needs without going to a nursing home. Grief can only be dealt on a day to day basis. Sometimes I can handle it and sometimes I just need a good cry. I think about all the great times we had and that makes me happy, but then the grief creeps back in because I can no longer talk to, smile at, laugh with, cry with or hug my parents ever again. My only comfort is knowing I will see them again one day in Heaven and that is what keeps me going day to day.

Joann, the coach and some players, the QB being one, have a five game suspension for selling memoribilia and Tressel knowing about it. Now there are some allegations of players and family members getting deals on cars from a local dealership and that the coaching staff was aware of the deals. A big no-no according to NCAA rules.

Do you have any suggestions for how he could display this in a tasteful but temporary way? He wants it in the family room. Isn't he part of the family? If it makes the boy happy, I'd let him use a shelf or two of the entertainment center for the helmets.

So what kind of camera do you have and what kind of zoom? They are great pictures. I take pics of my gradnson and the daylight is so much better but a little harder under lights.
I have a Cannon Xti with Cannon 70mm-300mm zoom. It takes nice pictures but it depends on the lighting in the field. It is all night game in Western MN. I use the shutter priority but have to cut it down quite a bit and really don't get the good clear pics that I want sometimes but...........it'll do. Some fields are better than others and I stay up in the stands when I take them.
Keep up the good work and take as many as you can. It is really fun!!!
I also have a daughter who barrel races and have gotten some great pics of her.

Hi june...I use a Nikon d40x with a 55-200 zoom...this game was a scrimmage set up for a local charity, just lucky it was an early game....next Tuesday our team will play in something called Hootens Kickoff Classic (a big deal for our little school)...also an early game...after that, I will be at the mercy of the lights.
Shooting from the sidelines is much better for pics, but I didn't get into the game like I would have from the stands..thats a hard trade off :-)
My daughter used to barrel race, gave that up to perform with the Rodeo of the Ozarks Rounders....a drill team that performs at local rodeos and promotes the Rodeo of the Ozarks..she really enjoys being a part of that orginization.
I have my camera with me most of the time...I have taken some really weird pics....like last night a frog was in the window of my shop eating bugs...so he got his picture made....I have several pics of this little bird, begging for attention, while sitting proudly atop a pile of horse apples...its a stupid subject, but a funny picture!! So I agree with you...it is really fun!!

My daughter is 52 and still barrel races and grandson was play softball this summer.
