Thank you! Stephanie, Vaporvac, and Diane! Having lots of rain in August is a pretty rare occurrence here. Overall this has been a wet year, but July was especially hot and dry, but pretty typical, When August got here, we began getting lots of rainfall, I know at my house we’ve had over ten inches. It’s been good, and unique, because my roses were pretty fatigued, but the majority are looking so much better! My established Beverly is setting on its third huge flush, I’m looking forward to seeing all those blooms again. Blooming was pretty sparse in July! I really wish everyone would have adequate rainfall! I know what it’s like not to have it. Diane, at this time blackspot is not a problem, it got pretty bad here on some of my roses after our May deluge, which is typical even with normal rainfall here. After the temperatures get hotter, even with the high humidity it’s not as pervasive. There are certain varieties (mostly Kordes) that show no signs of it, even during the worst time for it.

I do my walk early afternoon...... I am a late sleeper, benefit of being retired, and after I feed the cats and make my coffee.... it’s afternoon, early...... hahaha! I am no different than the others. Don’t care what I am wearing (within reason), and I do the same as others, inspect, pull weeds, admire progress, make note of any issues and take pictures. I am wanting to photograph my hostas at different growth stages this year. My 2020 garden goal. liquidfeet and others, thanks for your lovely shares!! :-D

Pilllog, please snap some photos of your moyher’s ladle. I will keep an etye out at yard sales and thrift stores. One tool I miss is a particular silicone spatular on a wooden handle. Thin, narrow, perfectly flexible but with body. I bought two alike at someplace like TJ Maxx 25 or 20 years ago. I think they were made in some Nordic country. I spotten one like it at the (now closed) kitchen store in Concord, MA, but I did not want fo hand over $14 for it. I have since looked high and low for a replacement. I have others, but nbone come close to my yellow silicone one — they are too stiff or too flimsy or the handle in clunky. I have lots of cooking knives. My favorite one these days is a 6-inch Global chef’s knife. I have a fish spatula that I use a lot and some vintage 12-inch cast iron skillets that are perfectly seasoned and baby butt smooth. I also have a favorite vintage dark dark brown stoneware bean pot. Also a large Roseville. Ohio stobeware bowl that is ivory with two blue stripes. I have my grandmother antique pine rolling pin, handles long broken, that I have in a drawer, but never use.
