Itea 'Little Henry' has been disappointing (too much dieback), 'Henry's Garnet' has done much better for me. I wish I hadn't planted Viburnum 'Summer Snowflake'; while they continue to grow (and flower!) in a very difficult spot (under the canopy of a Norway maple) I think they will outgrow the space, getting much taller than wide. I also have another grouping of Aronia 'Autumn Magic'(chokeberry) and I wish that I'd just added more of those. Clethra will get moved into much less prominent locations, they don't leaf out early enough to be front and center. I wish I'd bought a bigger crabapple, it looks so pathetic... I'm glad I planted Weigela 'Wine and Roses', oakleaf hydrangeas and red-twigged dogwoods (for winter interest). My dappled willow has been fun (so far, in it's 2nd year) to train and grow as a multi-stemmed tree. Hope it doesn't break before it achieves its full potential. I love my 'Quickfire' hydrangea, V. 'Onondaga' and 'Summer Wine' ninebarks too.

Ohmygosh! I NEVER thought about the effect of sunlight on the placement of the intake vents/exhaust fan thermostat! My new GH is finished, at least to the point of being sealed, except for the frames we will add around the intake vents and exhaust fan and have rather abandonded it for the present, as we hustle to get our fall yard and field work done while the Sun shines, which it hasn't for much of the past month. But we do have electricity into the GH, so even when it turns really cold, we can still work inside of it and one of the questions has been the placement of the thermostats. Now I've been warned about the one for the vents/fan, I'll be sure to mount it in a shaded location, but what about the thermostat for the heater? My best sense tells me it should be mounted by the north facing door at the opposite end of the GH from the heater, because even with the intake vents and exhaust fan closed for the winter, the roof vents will still release excess heat. Yes? No?

I recently had a stone sill placed on my kitchen window that isn't too different, dimension-wise, from yours and it was no problem. Both my GC and the fabricators had zero issues with it and, at the time, I had no backsplash under the window (3x6 subway tiles have just been installed). I wonder if your GC isn't familiar with stone sills or if your fabricator is concerned about too long of an overhang? My original wood sill/frame measured approx 70" x 3.25". I don't have a very good photo of the wood sill removed, but you can see from the photos below how simple it actually was to install the stone sill. They were able to keep the thickness of the sill the same as my countertops, 3cm. Before (the wood sill to be removed includes the unpainted part below): During (entire bottom of window frame removed): After: I would've liked the overhang to be about an inch or two longer than it turned out and my fabricator wouldn't have had a problem with it... I just gave them the leeway to make it however they wanted. I know that when they ripped the walls out under the window, there were about 2 wall studs below that my stone sill may be sitting on. Can you post a pic of your current window sill/ledge?

He's the dressy type of person, so I got all spiffied up.
Plus a gentleman that opens the car door for you, etc.
Makes you feel like a "lady".

Ok, we had dinner at Landry's Seafood.
Had fried oysters and a cup of gumbo.
Warren, had a big bowl of clam chowder, blackened talipia, cheese grits and fried green tomatoes and a salad.

We went around 12:30, and got home around 3.

Then I went to his place, for a bit.

He came by this morning, to say BYE BYE until he comes back.

BTW, he's my handsome neighbor, that lives above me. His regular home is in Peach Tree City, hotlanta, and the condo here.

We have a lot, I mean a LOT in common, but he does have his ladyfriend, which is why he has the condo for him to stay in when he comes to visit her.

He's been in condo as long as I have. Over six years. He just has started inviting me out to lunch, and drops in more just to visit.

We are just getting friendlier, that's it.

Plus his lady is seeing other men, besides him. I know that and think he is realizing that now.

He loves to travel, she doesn't, I DO, so we'll see!

I'm so happy for you. I hope he is Mr. Right, or at least Mr. Close-Enough to be worth the time and effort.

My mother passed away in January 2009; my parents had been happily married for 63 years.

My father's high school sweetheart (from the 1930's) was married for 60+ years, and lost her DH in September 2008.

They are "keeping company". They have been on 3 cruises together, and she has been to Maryland to visit him twice (she lives in Arizona). They both lovingly cared for their spouses for several years, so they deserve all the happiness in the world.

My brother and I are thrilled, as are her children. My father was wonderful to my mother, and we consider it a tribute to her memory that he wants female companionship. They are both in their late 80's, but I hope they have many more cruises in their future.

Glenda..you never know what could happen if you are open to more than friendship...but remember the old saying ...the way to a man's heart is through his stomach...well don't believe a word of it...Since this is a family site, I'm going to send you a private email and tell you what you need to concentrate on and it's not feeding him fried green tomatoes or clam chowder..

Well Geesh Glenda!! He's my neighbor!!...PTC is about 8 miles from me!! I'll have to keep a close watch on him for you!! Is he a retired pilot? PTC is a haven for pilots since it's so close to the ATL airport!

Oh, he's been gone for two weeks.
He has a farm in Columbus, GA, a traveler as well. You never know where he is. He likes to go on a whim.

He's a retired Bell South CEO, no pilot.
