I have another project I need to get to first thing this morning, but first advise is to slow down, breathe and take some time to smell the roses and look at the paint ships. You can see undertones on a paint ship -- but they can change as you see them in different light and with different colors present and reflected. Grays are really good (or bad) at pulling either purple or green. Without even thinking about picking colors for your room, either go to a paint store or go online to a paint website. Just look at one color selection -- blue, green, grey, red, etc. and look at them all there together. I know it would be faster for me in a paint store, but your experience may vary. Pull two and compare them. What is different? And oranger red is warmer, one that goes berry to wine has more purple or blue, so it is cooler. Isolating choices helps sometimes, but with paint ships, you can put them next to colors that are similar but different, a known different color (say orange) and seeif you can then tell the color is pulling that way (or does it clash? why?) or looking at two to compare. If you still don't see the differences, your color perception may not be typical (they say we all see colors differently. They also say some people are super tasters, so there are probably variations is depth of color perceptions as well as hue). If that's the case, or you are going to lose sleep over it either way, I'd consider a color consultant. Not a full decorator, but someone who just helps you pick colors to get the look and feel you want. They may also be able to help you learn whether you don't see or haven't thought about color undertones and such. I haven't used one, but I think some folks here have mentioned it being as little as $100 or $150 to pick all your colors and have a good direction. I know your project is a smaler budget one, but maybe you can work that in and find someone who can help you get through this with less stress. If you don't buy the wrong paint, that can save you at least $50-100.

Do you have a GC? If so, for the cabinet damage, you might point it out to him and let him be the bad guy. Replacing one drawer front (which is what a tilt out is) shouldn't cost much. If the fabricator was to seal the stone, then the fabricator should be responsible for sealing it sufficiently. It might need another coating of what they already used or sealing with something else. My friend got one of the Juperanas and it needed sealing more than once to get it good enough. I think you are probably out of luck on the orange inclusions unless you had discussed them beforehand and they told you that they would avoid them. It's a natural material and has color variation.

Cameron, interesting bees! Hard to tell what kind they are. Bug Guide is a good place to find bug IDs if you want to go to the trouble. You can do a search for 'striped bee', 'black shiny bee' or whatever. Alfie doesn't mind telling his age... :-) He's a little over a year old. For me his 'birthday' will always be Mother's Day since he was found hiding on my front porch on that day a year ago. Omar, everything is looking wonderful! Love how those pavers define the flower beds. Very neat! Your oregano cleaned up real nice (seems you have a knack for that :-) if that's the same one you posted before that wasn't working. The little one you sent me is happy since I moved it to less sun and is also blooming. The 'Fireman's cap' (I think) in your first photo is gorgeous. Dang, I bought one years ago, couldn't find a place to plant it, so planted in my neighbor's yard. I can see it blooming over there. Oh well ... Oh, and "have I told you lately that I love ..." having flowers to cut and take to friends when the occasion arises, like today?

If I were in your position, I would find a reputable supplier of your product. They would either fabricate or have a fabricator. My reasoning for this is that I had Home Depot bid my kitchen remodel 5 years ago. I had them bid everything, but only ended up letting them do the demo and installation of cabinets. When they measured for cabinets, they assumed I would be replacing fairly new floor covering hence ordering a 24" corner sink cabinet. Fortunately, I caught that and told them I wanted the originally sized 36" base. It created a delay of a couple of weeks. To shorten my long story, I saved about $2,000 finding my own countertop and backsplash supplier who used a reputable fabricator. Plus, I served as my own GC to schedule electrician, plumber, appliance installation much to the chagrin of HD. They claimed I would mess up their installation timeframe. Well, I got it taken care of and saved approximately another $4,000 over HD's bid. To me, $6,000 is a lot of money! Last, but not least, I was not impressed with the cabinet installation. HD prices are misleading. Once you have spent hours consulting whether for kitchen or carpet or whatever, the price adding installation is considerably higher than necessary.
