Ok Guys, I went back to the design center today and here are some new choices: Tumbled Marble Subway Tile Emperador Brown: The tumbled marble also comes in 4"X4". OR Tumbled travertine 4"X4" Chocolate color: I emailed the designer to ask of the trvertine came in subway tiles, too. Hopefully, she will get back to me soon. My pics of the floor tile did not come out great this time, but here is is with two different carpet choices (in the design center it was almost identical to the carpet on the right, but in the pic it looks identical to the carpet on the left!): Also, I came across this REALLY pretty mosiac tile (I have NO idea how much any of this costs, I've put in an email to the designer to see!). I was thinking of getting one of the 4"X4" tiles (either the marble or the travertine) as the backsplash and then having them put one of these mosaic tiles centered over the stove cooktop. What do you guys think? Here's a pic of the mosaic tile: If the mosaic is too expensive, then I think I may go with subway tiles for the backsplash. I think the subway tiles would look wierd with the mosaic. Let me know what you guys think! You have been really helpful so far! Thanks so much!

the cabs are not oak. I can tell by looking at the wood. show me a better pic of the cabs Here's why you don't want to leave the 4" piece. same granite as yours. (you could do a darker color if you like. a charcoal color tile would actually look very nice w/your granite and the wood) for example, any ONE of these colors (not a mixture of all five!) would work w/your granite) give me a better pic showing countertop with the upper cabs in the pic. I can give you tile possiblities if you'd like. here's a quick one. Bedrosians Zenis 2x6 in Solar: removing the 4" backsplash is easy, score, gently pry. lots of how to videos when you tile, you'll get this look next to the granite top. BTW, this is a natural cherry cab w/a similar granite as yours. pretty w/warmer white tile, new hardware, and think about adding some glass to a few of your uppers. since you have taller upper doors, I'd pick a nice pull and not a knob. something like this would be perfect. you can do any finish you like. these gold handles would look very pretty w/the Bedrosains tile I posted above. same granite, 3x6 tile. (I prefer a longer tile like a 2x8, 2x10, or a 3x9) Botticino tumbled marble, very common tile w/this granite. take the one off the side if you can. if you dont' remove it, you'll get this look: someone mentioned lighting. this is why you don't want warm lights. makes everything look to gold/yellow. go 3500-4000K some neutral paint colors that work w/your granite

if it's on your walls, then for sure I wouldn't use it on the cabinets. You need some sort of break/contrast! what you do to bring in warmth and color is accessories. wood cutting boards, pendants, greenery, metal hardware, rugs, window coverings, shelving, glass in the upper cabs w/colorful dishes,,,,whatever! you certainly don't have to do the white subway tile. do the white cabinets and pick a charcoal tile. I can help you w/that when the cabs are done. that's easy. Right now your lighting is so yellow, its difficult to pick something. see if you can stick in a few more cans in the center. as a suggestion, I'd remove the valance and window treatment, and try something like this (in diff colors of course) and if you like the farmhouse white sink, try the drop in model. And I hope you're addressing the lack of storage. I get it. If possible, have some large drawers put in, somewhere, in order to store those items on the countertop. I had a drawer put into my island and keep everything in them. another suggestion, have a simple hood vent made (trim it wood if you like). the current one, along w/the valance and curtains over the sink, really date the space. this is how I did mine: whitetail cabs against a whiter wall. since you've already painted the walls, do something diff on cabs. can you imagine what this would look like if the cabs/walls/doors were all the same??! maybe look at some of these others that will compliment Whitetail. maybe Chatroom or Antler Velvet ?? I'd also do handles, not knobs, on the uppers. I think the gold would be pretty w/the granite.

Will keep you posted & will post a picture of the result! I think, though, that you have tons of options depending on what type of look you're going for! Dark charcoal colours might work, dark burgundy brown/reds, or someone suggested dark hunter green to me, which would also look great. You could do the lower cabinets in that contrasting colour (or just the island), and do the upper cabs in the same colour you've painted your trim... Or -- I actually really like your wood cabinets as is with the granite - for a change, you could keep the wood lowers (or the wood island), and do the rest of the cabs the same colour as your trim. ETA -- I don't find your countertops all that dated.... but I think the issue is more that the floor doesn't work with the rest of it. There might also be an issue with the backsplash but it's hard to tell in your pictures.
