And she stole my bathroom garbage bags!

I'm pretty sure this was a 'she' cuz these were 'purty' garbage bags and they smelled good too and most guys wouldn't be too thrilled with purty, smelly garbage bags!

So, did she leave my garbage bags at your house? Did she take anything from your house?

It's time to 'rat' her out!

Can you eliminate the wasp nests on your property? I spray proactively every spring, summer and fall with raid hornet killer, in all the attic eaves and around our barn. I never have a problem with wasps frequenting my hummingbird feeders, porch or entire property for that matter. My husband is allergic to stings and I am terrified of wasps and hornets, so I practice prevention. I give bees more lattitude unless they decide to build a nest on our property, but most of our flower pollinators live elsewhere, and they never visit the hummer feeders. Getting rid of the wasps might be the answer to your problem, but wait until after dark to spray their nests and be sure to thoroughly soak them. It is easiest (and safest) to nip nest building in the bud before they gain size and population.

Yikes, Lenny!! I think your extremely adamant statement of an absolute rule that nobody, ever, should ask anybody if they can visit, not ever ever EVER, is taking it rather too far. As you see from the other comments, many people disagree with that. Far from finding their relatives and friends rude or manipulative for asking to visit, they welcome it and even feel hurt or insulted if they don't ask, and do indeed like having guests in their homes, even 24/7. I mean, you are certainly entitled to dislike people asking you if they can visit, and to tell them (nicely) that no, it won't work out. Everyone doesn't have to feel the same about this. Everyone else's way doesn't have to be wrong for yours to be right, too. Because people feel so differently about this, it's important for the guest to ask in such a way that they acknowledge they are asking for a favor and in a way that makes it as easy as possible for the hosts to decline if they don't want guests. And for their part, it's important for hosts to avoid getting their backs up and accusing people who do ask in that way of all kinds of bad motives and rudeness. It's not hard to say no nicely. When it's hard to do, and we find ourselves feeling that someone who, if we are being honest with ourselves, really did only ask nicely was "manipulating" us or "making us feel guilty," usually it's because we really aren't comfortable with our decision (but of course it's more comfortable to blame them). Obviously, it's not always okay to ask. You have to know which relationships welcome it and which don't.

Won't repeat what I've already said, just to add that I bend over backwards to make guests feel comfortable. I tolerate a lot when they don't realize they're bothering me or instance. However when it gets to the point they're taking advantage of you or abusing the privilege, that's where I say draw the line. When I stay someplace, I always make the bed. It might not be to their standards, but I try. At least it's presentable. And I always assist with prep/cleanup if they invite me for a meal, try to cook a meal for them and/or take them out for a meal or something while I'm there. I look at it as simple courtesy. Few animals bother me so theirs wouldn't bother me and I wouldn't bother them if they didn't like attention. When I had the dog I only stayed with friends once, simply because I said no thanks, I had the dog with and didn't want to cause people trouble, but these folks said no problem, having him was fine. I was very careful to watch him closely and keep him in the kitchen most of the time just in case of an accident. He did well, they did well, I was nervous but still had a good time. But much depends on the people. Hope all works out. Now give those pussycats a treat and tell them the mean old dogpeople are going to stay in a kennel! :)

I agree with Cat about the marriage situation. I think the adult children problem will work it self out. It maybe that they will never be close to you, does that bother you? If you love the man try to work out a solution. I really think in most cases the 'kiddies' are jealous. Just be sure to discuss it with him in a calm manner and let him know how you feel. Try to keep emotions in check and a trip to a professional does help. It does seem that many adult children are not very 'adult' at all. I met DH when I was 47 and we started a romantic relationship when I was 48. He had transferred from the state where his adult children lived and each year he would pay for 4 to 5 of them to come for a week or two vacation. This cost about $5000! For some strange reason it was always the same oldest daughter that came with her children. I stayed out of it and they were polite. Then he retired and I still worked, they expected the same trips, plus send one of hers to France on a school trip, another two of hers wanted to come each year at Christmas, all at our expense. He had been buying Christmas gifts for each grandchild (12) from a list they provided, plus giving all three of his daughters $300 for gifts and $100 each to shop for themselves. Can you spell guilt lol!!!!! And his 3 girls took advantage of it. I was paying the house payments and other bills and the oldest had the nerve to ask him who was getting the house when he died. I told him we could not afford all of this after he retired and he agreed. That's when they started to get nasty with me, they do not even say hello when I answer the phone and my name is never included on the cards. Of course, it was all my fault. I explained to them we didn't have the same amount of money as before. I guess to punish him they stopped calling, send no cards Christmas, Father's Day, or his birthday. This hurt him deeply and he talked to a counselor. After we had been together for 6 years and a Christmas without hearing from them I called one of his sisters and explained what was going on. I asked her if she thought I was out of line if I called them, she said no, that she thought they were selfish. I wanted until DH went to bed (3 hour time difference, we were later) and I e-mailed one and told her how disappointed I was that as big of a family as he has not one of them could call him on Christmas or the other holidays. I said I would send her the pre stamped cards if that was the problem. I had the phone number for the oldest and I called her. I politely and calmly told her the same thing. She started screaming at me so loud I had to hold the phone away from my ear. She said everything was fine until I came along, he was retiring in their state until he met me. They all 3 did send cards the next holiday so it was worth it. They will not come to visit unless we pay for it. It is not that they can't afford it. We moved to a small area and they say there is nothing to do here. Doesn't visit your father count???? When we send gifts we never get a thank you and DH will call to see if they received the gift. The last time I embroidered 4 burp cloths and we mailed the gift. We had been invited to the shower in another state, but no one sent a thank you or even bothered to send a birth announcement. I told him this hurt my feelings and I would no longer make personal gifts for them. If he sends a gift it's up to him. We have discussed the situation and we met with an attorney and had all papers drawn up and the house is in both our names. It finally came to an understanding for him when his oldest called us last year and was telling him she had to put the kids school clothes on credit cards. I did fell a little sorry for her. 3 months later he receives a post card from Italy, she was on a 2 week vacation with her boy friend. His chin fell to the floor, but now he understands his daughter perfectly!!!!! His brothers and sisters treat me very well, but I did let him visit last year alone when his brother was in hospice so he could visit his children without the tension of ME lol!!!!

She stole my tv remote control, and despite looking under all the cushions and under all the couches and chairs, I still can't find it. At least it gave me the opportunity to vacuum under the cushions, so I'm thankful. But I wish she would return it!

Well that old lady came by here sometime. She sure is sneaky, isn't she? She took $100 check. It must have been her, surely Harry wouldn't have misplaced/lost it. I've searched high and low but the company that wrote it said they will replace it. Darned old lady or, in this case, that darned old man!

And she stole a large jar of garlic stuffed olives that I have to go to TX to buy, I have turned my whole house upside down and those olives are NOT HERE. She is living on borrowed time, the wench!

She must have been hungry because when she was here, she ate cheese and crackers, but when she cleaned up after herself, she put the cheese in the pantry and the crackers in frig drawer. I found them the next day and had to toss the newly opened chunk of Jalapeno cheese. Now she owes me $4.29. Pay up, woman!!

She stopped here and moved my filing cabinet keys - then brought them back and put them in a music box on one of my bookcases! She's a pen thief, she drags crap in on my CLEAN floors, AND she has downloaded so many programs on my computers, that none of them run like they should!

Who else does she impose on?!

Well, she's been here and made a huge mess. Stuff everywhere. And she hides stuff on me all the time, too. I am still looking for a hole punch from six months ago. And she stole my memory too. Wish she'd bring it back. I think I miss that the most!

She was here day before yesterday.I was making toast (SIX pieces). I KNOW I turned the toaster oven off.The wench turned it back on and I didn't know it 'til the kitchen filled with smoke!

That old woman hid DH's wallet and car keys in a pile of clean clothes and we didn't find them for 3 days. Of course, if I put up our clean clothes everytime they come out of the dryer she wouldn't have had a chance to put them there.

Let me tell you what she did here.

She misplaced a brand new never been opened bag of Hershey Miniatures at Christmas time. Guess where I found it a couple weeks ago. In the drawer where I keep my summer night gowns!!

BUT, that's not the worst thing. One of my two cordless phones went missing. I know that I had put it, temporarily, in the basket on the back of the toilet.

Well, obviously she knocked it out of the basket or something, because it got flushed down!!!

I'm planning on getting a restraining order against her!!!

She's been here, also. Yesterday, she hid my Vicks Vaporub and I spent an hour looking for it. She put it in my purse!! She has also taken a gift certificate to Home Depot and I fear I may never see it again. I wish she'd go away for a while!!

Well, when I'm looking for something, she removes it from my sight. Then a while later, puts it right in front of me. She just wants me to fall over whatever it is this time.

I think she takes my money because I never have any. A few years ago I had a bottle of REDEYE. It is a wedding schnapps that is made with browned sugar and 190 proof everclear. My dad made it the best. Never found it. Adella I can about imagine what that smells like. Heres another note if you want to heat up one biscuit dont wet the microwave for 3 minutes if you want it on 30 seconds. This is not from experience more than one time though. LOL

I can't tell you how many times she moves my cars keys around. Really aggravating! Usually when I give up, then I stumble upon them. Hey she tries that trick on me too-the one where she puts it somewhere I already checked-twice! She used to mess with my scissors too but lately I am winning that battle. Every time I spend a lot of time looking for them, I buy a new pair even if I found them. Now with 5 pairs I can sometimes find them!!

She must have a phone fettish - I'm still missing a phone from about a year ago and not a cell phone - one of the portable house phones.

She finally returned one of my 3 camera batteries - she put it in the wrong desk drawer. But she charged it first, thank goodness!

This is so funny - frustrating, but funny. The ol' lady must have been middle-age or younger when she stole my car keys just before I had to pick up my kids from school. Had to borrow a ride from my neighbor. And then do you know what she had the gall to do? She hid those keys in the plastic thing that covers the ends of the handlebars of my toddler's tricycle! Guess she figured that was how to start its engine. She must be awfully short, too....

I had been able to avoid that old woman so far. She'd been knocking on the door a few times, but I was able to shoo her away before she could do any real damage. Well... that all changed last week, when she followed me to the mall and pulled a doozie. But I gave her a lesson she never will forget. I reported her to the police!!!

It is a huge mall, and it was a rainy day, and the lot was full, so I felt very lucky to be able to find a good parking spot close to an entrance. When I was ready to leave a few hours later, she had stolen my car, and another car was now parked there! I called the police, and then called a friend to come pick me up. The cops came, took down my information, and then radioed it out to other units in the area. A while after I got home, they called and said they had located the car. That freaking old hag had taken the car and parked it way over on the other side of the mall, close to another entrance! DH is threatening to put her on a leash if she ever shows up here again.

Love this thread. That wicked heifer visits here whenever DH is driving my Dodge pickup. She locks the doors if he gets out and doesn't take the key out of the ignition! And of course, he is usually 15 or 20 miles away from the house and I have to take him the extra key. I've told him to watch out for her.....LOL

And by the way, while she now is out there, having a great time visiting all of you, when she left here she left behind seemingly unending hours of amusement for my family and friends. I may never forgive her for that. If she had to pull that dirty trick on me, she could at least have brought the car back before I called in the marines.....

As I write, DH is rumaging through all the drawers in the kitchen looking for his tube of super glue. He has already searched the basement, the tractor shed and both garages to no avail. I told him about that wicked woman that has been messing with everyone's mind at the Kitchen Table, but he is still looking. Maybe he will find the cranberry sauce that was apparently lifted last Thanksgiving by that woman. Can you imagine ...she took 3 two cup containers of it. She could have at least left one for our Turkey Day dinner!

That old woman can't leave my reading glasses alone. But I got her good. Went to the Home Shopping Network and ordered a Joy Mangano set of seven readers. Three weeks later JM returned with another set of seven in a different design. Ordered those, too. Sometimes she puts four readers in our remote control container. Haha, that's just what I intended!

She's been at my house many times. Why just tonight I opened the microwave and saw a mug of cold coffee she hid from me at lunch time. And Elisabeth..last week she played the same trick on me. She moved my car from the back of the gym where I entered to the front and had me walking all over the lot looking for it. The old hag.

She came here two days ago and hid my glasses. It was so frustrating. My DD and I looked all over the house but couldn't find them either upstairs or downstairs. I finally had to get out my old glasses and wear them so I could see the computer but it was much harder to see. Then yesterday I took the glasses off of my face to check if they needed to be cleaned and there they were -- on my face! I have no idea where they had been or how they got on my face! That was scary! I picked them up somewhere in my bedroom. That old woman must have put them back to confuse me. Grrrr!

I wish she wwwould leave my garden tools alone while I'm gardening. Or if she is going to take them, at least do some work with them!

BTW, I haven't cleaned out my freezer sincce she took the phone - I'm afraid I will find it there!
