I completely agree with everything Fran just said and more. I have been watching this amazing woman for three years now juggle family, job and this tremendous plant sale. She goes to work at 4:30 AM at Costco and then sells plants when she gets done work until she needs to go home and take care of her two youngest children. She is instilling a sense of community service in her children - they all participate from potting plants, growing seeds, painting pots and selling plants. The are a wonderful family! What was gratifying to see this year was the volume of repeat customers and referrals. So many people said "you don't have to tell me - I've been coming here for years", "I come every year to support you (Michelle) and the Childrens' Hospital". New for me at least were the non Costco members who found out about the crazy plant lady from Costco members who bought from her before and recommended them to buy from Michelle. The network is also expanding so hopefully more people will volunteer to help Michelle and her family. I can't say enough about how much effort Michelle and her family put in to making this event a huge success and she deserves every ounce of credit for its accomplishments. It is an honor and pleasure for me to be associated with Michelle and her family in this endeavor.

I'm tired here as I was up too late again... but, I just noticed this thread and had to comment. Yes, it's a whole lot of work that totally was noticed by us. We appreciate all our valuable seeds from this big swap. This was my first "want list" swap ever, so I learned a lot, had a ball of fun, got to know better or for the first time a whole lot of wonderful participants and a wonderful HOST and co-host, AND got some treasured seeds as well along with some surprises I can't wait to grow out. You're very welcome! It's always nice to see a kitchen start coming together that I've helped work on...even if it's just a little! I wouldn't worry about about the slow progress...even with a GC doing our kitchen & DR, it took almost 6 months b/c of delays, scheduling, etc. (We're not very experienced DIYers so we didn't feel qualified to do it ourselves...) Good luck with the cabinets...it sounds like a great situation! If you can't order add'l cabs, come on back here & I'm sure we'll come up with something for you! Keep us posted on your progress...and good luck!

I had seen the media reports about flossing myself. Here is what the American Dental Association says: http://www.ada.org/en/science-research/science-in-the-news/the-medical-benefit-of-daily-flossing-called-into-question In short, they appear to say flossing offers minimal benefits, but that since 50 percent of American suffer from gingivitis/periodontal disease, it's worth achieving the small benefit. Specifically the authors pointed out two difficulties in studying the benefits of flossing: First, people fib and say they floss more than they do, so studying the effects of flossing can be difficult based upon reliance on self reporting. Second, there are people who floss well and people who do not floss well- most do not. So even when people are telling the truth about their flossing habits, they may be very poor flossers, hence harming the studying of flossing. As a lifetime non-flosser, this article, which I read a while ago, did not convince me that my non-flossing ways were acceptable. It seems obvious to me that if I have nasty stuff caught in between my teeth that cannot be doing any good for my teeth and gums, or my overall health in general. Your physical health depends upon your mouth's health in many ways. And in many instances the health of your mouth reflects the health of your body (you may have seen the previous studies on oral health and heart disease, for example.)

I just wanted to say thanks for all the support and prayers for my deployment to afgan were I will be apart of rebuilding cities and earning the trust of the afgans with the language that I have learned(Pashto).

Sharon and all y'all....thanks for the "shout out" for my buddy!!! I know we all have friends and family serving their countries so this is a very cool and thoughtful post.

Also, thanks for all the help and advice with the party this past weekend. We had a great time....for the most part things went well and without a hitch. I did learn a few things though for future gatherings of this size. LOL

I will post a few pics by the end of the week. I only managed a couple...it was a crazy night! I will get some from DS and DN once they send them to me.
