Potato Gratin recipe..... (w/Swiss Chard)??

I saw a Canadian Bacon, Potato and Swiss-Chard Gratin recipe that I may try for a side dish at Thanksgiving. I'm not that familiar with Swiss Chard and wondered what you guys thought about leaving it in the recipe (or should I just skip that ingredient?).

You basically saute the Swiss Chard, then layer the potatoes, gruyere cheese, canadian bacon, swiss chard, potatoes, cheese, canadian bacon, potatoes, top with remaining cheese. Pour chicken broth over all, cover with foil and bake, remove near the end for browning.

Sounds like a good recipe.... but just wondering what the Swiss Chard will add to the recipe???? I know that is a leafy green, spinich type veggie....

What do you think??
