Please keep us updated on what the results were and how the Doc treats it. Try not to worry too much, at least he will have plan and tell you exactly where you are....

The last time I went I got the same reaction from my Doc. She said my BS was higher than she wanted it and she said I was pre-diabetic!! What??? I was stunned. I always have a blood test before I see her and she had never said anything about my BS. And this was after we had resolved a few small issues and I thought, "Phew..not I just have to exercise more and eat less." Then she throws this piece of information at me. Darn it anyway, this is the pits of growing older. For the most part I love aging...it has me closer to retirement (only 3 months now!!), and my life is wonderful in so many ways now. But why does the body have to throw us curves balls every now and then?

Try not to worry too much, even worse-case, diabetes, it's going to be Type II, adult on-set.

I've had it for years now, take three pills a day and am doing good. I'm probably healthier now that I have been in years due to having to eat a healthy, low-carb, low-fat diet.

Blood sugar problems could explain some your symptoms, but so could a hundreds of other things.

My doctor hints an insulin; I'm not ready to go there yet, but if it turns out I have to, it will be for my own good and all my diabetic friends tell me I'll feel better if I need it and start taking it. You, and I, and other diabetics can live l-o-n-g healthy lives.

Please, try not to worry. Stress is a killer.

I'm sitting here LOL, because it took me til almost the last post to figure out what BS was.All i could think of was Bull Sh**.LOL Then it finally hit me,blood sugar,guess i still have chemo brain!!!

You'll be fine. :) I'm on month two after finding out I have Type 2 Diabetes. I too was bumping into walls, especially when I woke up during the night and morning. My eyes still get blurry even when I put my reading glasses on.

No matter what the doctor says, after your visit buy a blood glucose monitor, test strips and lancets, and start recording your morning readings.

In the beginning, two hours after you eat, do another reading because this will tell you what you can and cannot have.

Don't believe the food charts the doctor OR the National Diabetes Assc. gives out. If I ate everything they suggested, I'd be in a diabetic coma. lol.

Basically eat NO sugar, but there are some great sugar free ice creams, candies and cookies out there. lol.

No white potatoes, white rice, carrots, corn (I eat stew with those veggies, but it's not like eating a serving of one of them), white bread, sugar, etc.

You'll get it under control with eating, and possibly meds. Some people get rid of diabetes after they lose weight. I didn't have a whole lot to lose, but I've already lost 15 pounds without even trying in two months.

And you'll learn to fix a mean pizza with whole wheat tortilla shells. LOL

Yes I to would be concerned to your physical problems you said you had. If it is diabetes at least you will be on meds and make sure to talk to a dietian about diet. They should help. Go to web sites and find out as much as you can. If the Dr. is NOT a diabetic speciatist, ask for one to make sure you are doing everyting right. If you are diabetic, have the dr check your feet, and if you have any numbness, have this checked out. Ask for a stress test--because there could be heart problems that show up with diabetes.
My DH has had this for 40 years and as long as he and the medical staff moniters this, it is under control.

Your doctor is doing the right thing, periodically monitoring your blood condition, while you are on diabetic meds. Two major watches are needed: dosage adjustment, and monitoring the liver and kidney function.

I've been living with this for the past 10 yrs and it is a necessary nuisance. After the doctor has increased your dosage for blood sugar control (to the maximim for you) and it still goes out of bounds, he'll likely recommend a daily insulin shot. He wants to discuss the test results with you, and when he does, this is your chance to ask for explainations if you are not clear about the results.

In my case, I have found that the most effective control is to burn it off with weight loss and exercise. I don't do enough of these, but when I do, the results are good. Blood pressure and resting heart rate also decreases.

Returned to MD on Friday morning...as suspected Class II Diabetes, Adult Onset. Starting out with morning BS stick and one pill with evening meal...boo...who...no more/or significantly reduced consumption of bread, (white) potatoes, pasta, corn, etc. all the good stuff, exercise, exercise, exercise, plus classes 3 times over the next couple of months...

But, on the upside...this will help me to lose those extra pounds, feel better, have more energy...and if anyone at my house had the energy and was interested, more "fun" in the bedroom...hehehehh

I was able to stick my finger this a.m. without a lot of difficulty and those little machines are very fast...MD said to buy a monitor that I could get the blood slips and needles for most anywhere and I didn't need all of those fancy bells and whistles...he's always thrifty. Found a great one on sale at CVS (onetouch) for about $15.00 compared to those bell and whistle ones he was talking about that are $100 & up, accessories can be purchased at Walmarts and other pharmacies! BS was down 32 points this morning after only one pill yesterday. Whew!

MD even said, when we get it more under control,, I can have a piece of bread occasionally, but in the meantime I should remember this, "The minute your saliva touches a bite of bread, it begins to turn to sugar."
