First Rummage Sale of the Season!

I went to my first rummage sale of the season. I got some really nice things. Several cookbooks, hard cover, $.50 each and one is an autographed copy of Dave Letterman's Mom"s. (I already had one) Two large colored Pyrex bowls, a nice little Fenton dish, a big warming tray, a pie server, a deep dish pie pan, a very full box of assorted greeting cards, a Rook card game, a tool for making a lattice top for a pie, and an Indian head tooth pick holder, possibily St. Clair. The only sale listed in the paper! No one else was there, the ladies were cold as the weather was not too warm. Had fun though.

There was an estate yard sale in town and I skipped it. I don't have any place to go with what I drag home. My shed is full. Now tomorrow I am going to a tack swap - don't need much from there but it is a small expo too. Kathy

I love it when pencil farming matches reality. Mid January I made great plans and calendars to schedule everything. The plan was to make my first harvest April 10th. Well I made my first harvest today and took Salanova lettuce mix, kale, and spinach to a small store I sell to. Not bad for north central MN. It was nice to bring home a check. From now on its like Alice in Wonderland said, "It takes all the running one can do to stay in the same place".

Then I don't feel so bad, it looks like 6 to 7 hours for me. I really wish I lived closer as I see quite a few that I would want for those prices! Maybe we could get some sort of shuttle started like the Pony Express, where someone loser could pick them up, drive an hour of so, pass them off to someone else, etc. Ha, ha, ha! Oh, and I am tempted to drive there as I drive 5 hours to attend the Raleigh Plant Swap. I see about 15 or so that I wouldn't mind having.

Nice finds:). 1. With the Euphorbia tirucalli looks like Stapelia gigantea:). It naturally hangs, but than grows up. The way yours is growing is its natural growth pattern:). Your Stapelia has carrion flowers so they attract flies for pollinating. I'm sure you can guess what they smell like? Rotting meat. 2. Euphorbia Trigona aka African Milk Tree:). You can give it a grittier mix if you want. It'll be happy if you do. Just protect yourself from the sap. People freak out, but if you protect yourself you will be fine:). There are lots of toxic plants out there. Just lay the pot on its side. The Euphorbia should come out easily. Use newspaper or old towels to wrap around the plant. 3. Some species of Aloe, but I will leave that to an Aloe pro:).

My youngest daughter, our dogs, and I go to sales. We also have very nice large yard sales at her house. Mostly her things but I do put some things in it. They last 2 to 3 days and we have big canopies we put up. I am in charge of fixing all the meals, sometimes 3 a day. It becomes a family affair. We have a good time with it, but are always worn out when it is over. We try to be organized.
I like going more than having them!

Our Humane Society is having a huge used book sale, and the Pregnancy Center is having a big sale next week, and I can hardly contain myself. Like I need anything more to add to my clutter! I do buy things to use for quilting at church so that's a good excuse to go.

The Catholic church here puts on a good rummage sale. I don't need all the stuff I buy (and a lot of it ends up in my own garage sales later), but I go anyhow.

Sounds like you got some bargains!

Still snow and icy and more coming, but the farm auctions are starting. Will be glad to start the garage sales, about June or July O?????

Went to about five this morning and didn't do that great. I bought two paperback books, two games for the Playstation2 and 12 cobalt blue winebottles (empty!)

That was it. I may go again tomorrow, but haven't decided yet.

We usually finds lots of good bargains. If it isn't something we have a use for and it isn't really a good deal we don't get it. Sometimes we have certain things we look for, like things for daughter's pond or for her yard or greenhouse. We both love to read so we get all of our reading material at rummage sales. I always look for sewing things and things for my kitchen that I can use. The main thing is to enjoy and have fun.
