I only use a 19" Dell LCD monitor. I don't think I'd want two - my desk is not that large to support it.

If I had the desk space I would do it in a heartbeat!

I use a 24" widescreen monitor on my home PC. I have a laptop for work and use it with an additional 22" widescreen montior. The single large monitor is fine for my home PC (although a second one would be nice when video editing) but I'd sure hate to go back to a single monitor for work. If you need to have a lot of applications running, using two monitors is a lot more convenient.

Yes, I use two monitors. I'm a graphic designer and have two computers and three monitors on my desk. One monitor for my PC and two for my Mac where I do the majority of design work.

It is very handy to have a work area on one monitor and some or all of the menus on the other monitor. You can drag apps and windows back and forth between monitors seamlessly.

I just took a photo of the set up but did not bring my card reader into the office today so will have to post it later.

Not me - I just don't do enough on the computer to justify it. But my son uses 2 monitors at work and every now and then he'll set his laptop next to my husband's PC and do some work from home. I've watched him and it does seem really handy. He thinks it's fantastic and said that it saves him from constantly flipping back and forth from screens. Would if be helpful when you're scanning photos?

I wouldn't do it. Just the hassle of gazing from one screen to another. 22" screens are much cheaper now. Plus you can put them portrait.

I've seldom seen double screens be exactly alike. Either the colour is off on one or the resolution is a bit off.

I only use one at my desk BUT we do file sharing or auto cad with the three internet pc's here. This morning DD was using my pc for an essay. DS was using his for a power point presentation, so I had to run down stairs to look up something for DS on that pc, send it to his pc and used my nicer printer to print it off. When DS leaves for college this fall I don't know what I'll do when I want computer help.
We have two more pc's they use for games and farming in the basement office. When the electricity goes out we are SOL!

Mcmann, I'm not sure but it might help when working with photos. I'm also thinking it would be useful when working on a long manuscript. So often you have to go between the actual writing screen and your notes--outlines, character sketches, etc. This could be fun.

My husband uses one monitor, but two keyboards and switches between two platforms. It drives me crazy! When he needs me to edit something, I will sit down and pick which one I think is right and start typing away, only to find that I'm doing absolutely nothing!

I work all day every day on my computer at home writing and editing. I can't imagine having more than one monitor. If I need to refer to more than one file at a time, I keep them open and minimized, then flip back and forth.

I once used one monitor with two CPU, but two monitors...? Whatever works, I guess!

I only use one. But DH has two on his own set up. However, he works in IT and needs to be able to work from home. He has two at work, too. He gets a lot of stuff going at once and needs the visual space.

Definitely 2! Used it once at work, then next job thought I was crazy. Now I use 2 again and it wonderful. Good for editing or comparing. I've used the doc compare feature but 2 monitors is so much easier. Go for it.

I plan to use 2 monitors in the near future, but not in the convential way discussed above. One monitor will be a flat panel TV and the other, my laptop. The difference is that I will be displaying identical images on both displays. I will be running a demonstration about the use of faceting software at a club show. The TV will be facing the viewers and I will be sitting behind a display table working on the laptop. I will be viewing the loptop and demonstrating the feature of the software. In this way, both myself and the audience can see the images.

I don't now, but having two monitors is fun! If you have the space, I'd say do it.

Claude has 3 at work. He is a big geek, though. :)

Below is my dual monitor set-up at work.

My two monitors are different sizes and brands but that doesn't make any difference to how I use them. The monitor on the left is my main workspace monitor, while the one on the right is primarily used to place menus, iChat windows, post-it notes, etc. You can see a slight color difference which could be improved if I wanted to spend the time and energy to fix it with color profiles.

On this second close-up photo you can see how the spread works a little better. The headline for this posts reads: Do you use two monitors (at on the left monitor and the same time)? on the right. Nothing gets lost in the translation between both monitors.

Jemdandy, what's faceting software?

Okay, I took a deep breath (well, two deep breaths) and ordered two 22" widescreen monitors. I don't even like wide screens! And I can't imagine all the space they're going to take up on my desk. But my DS loves this particular monitor (he uses two), and I decided to go with his recommendation.

The price was right, at least, thanks to a Newegg special. And the model (an Acer) has a slew of 5-star ratings. This should be an adventure.
