Driving multiple sprinkler valves at the same time
Comments (6)There are two primary things to consider. Can the controller handle the number of valves you want to run, and can the transformer handle the number of valves you want to run. A typical irrigation valve is going to require about 350mA of current to open the valve, and about 250mA to keep the valve open. If you have a transformer that can only supply 1A of current, you are already pushing the limits if you try to run three valves at once, regardless of the electrical specs of the controler. The next consideration is the electrical specs for the controller. Some controllers can handle enough current to run two valves off of the same circuit. Some controllers can handle enough current to run two valves, but only if the valves are on different circuits (i.e. there can be different limitations to the controller as a whole and different limitations to each circuit). The "cleanest" solution might be to use a cheap controler (i.e. one that can not supply much current), but have the controller only control a power relay and connect all the valves to the relay. Then your only limitation is the limits of the relay and the power source....See MoreSolenoid Controller/timer for misting? (Many start times)
Comments (4)I personly don,t know of a controller capable of that many starts. The best I can suggest is a controller with multiple programs and starts. If you set the station to run on each program with all the starts you can get around 12 possible times....See MoreRainbird® timer question
Comments (4)lehua13, program "A" is set to run all stations on Mon., Wed., and Fri. Program "B" runs station 2 only on Tue., Thu., Sat. and Sun. That seems to be working OK. Thanks....See MoreWho Makes a Controller that will run two stations at same time
Comments (4)while i by no means know all the controllers out there those that i do know of are usually designed to prevent what you would like to do. there is a way around it if you want a semi-permanant solution. you take the wires for each station you want to run together and hook them to the same station in the clock. a more permanant way is to hook both valves to the same wire....See MoreRainbird1
