Shall I prime sheetrock before stain grade trim is installed

I have a sizeable basement finish going on and the sheetrockers will be done by the middle of next week. They are spraying "knock down" on the ceilings.

The trim will be wainscoting (library panel) that will be stained and the crown and base will also be stain grade. The walls between the wainscoting and the crown will be painted.

The painter I am thinking of hiring tells me there is no need to prime before the trim goes up as he plans to prime the walls and ceiling before he paints them. However, I am getting advice that I should prime the walls and possibly even the ceiling before the trim goes up to cut down on dust that can be problematic during the staining and lacquer process. The stain and lacquer will be done before the painting.

I only have a two day window to prime before the trim material is delivered. Is it important to prime first or can I just clean the walls and floor really well.

Thanks.
