I'm having a huge mug of milky Earl Grey and half a chocolate twisty donut. Mmmmmmmmm.

We're car shopping tomorrow. Have no idea what we want, so it'll be test drive after test drive. Leaning towards a 2-3 yo car. Not sure about Sunday yet depending on the car search. Ping pong will be involved at some point I'm sure. My Sunday lesson is cancelled but we may get together with friends at another place to play. I played in a small, casual tournament last week, and while I was at the bottom level and lost all my games, I got to play the best players and had loads of fun. My BFF and I were the only girls. Go girls!!!

I just got back from a walk and coffee with friends. I love starting the day with friends.

Busy weekend here. We're also starting to car shop. I'm thinking the Ford Escape(?) hybrid. I need AWD in this neck of the woods and although I love my Subaru, I'd like a hybrid. J wants a Jeep.

Tonight we're going to the Food and Wine show and on Sun. we have a school auction, which should be fun. Otherwise, I see lots of youth hockey in my future!

Happy weekend everyone!

Not too much going on here. Tomorrow night we have a business "gotta doo" ..... not a typo.

Not sure what it's all about but it is at a very classy "club" so hopefully the food will be worth the "doo".

Other than that nada.

PS: Meredith turns 21 today....Happy Birthday Angel. Hope you have a great day, I know you will be partying hardy but stay safe!!!!

Pea soup and ham sounds good, but I've been eating a lot of soup lately, as I have been under the weather since Wednesday of last week, which is why I did not post under TGIF last week. I'm much better now, probably at 95%, but I will still take it easy this week-end. It's gotten cool here (mid 60s) and I think we may have had rain last night, which might happen again this week-end, which would be wonderful. If I'm up to it, I will make tamales. I found corn husks at Sprout's, but they cost $5, which I found to be expensive. Last Saturday (when I should have stayed home), we went to what I thought was a Von's close to our house, but it is now a dollar (or 99 cent) store, and I guess corn husks are too expensive for them to carry! Before that we went to a grocery/liquor store that is even closer to our house, and its doors had been chained, as it is going through a change of ownership. The large recycling center in its parking lot was still open, however, but that was all that was going on. Kevin said that he had seen people who collect bottles and cans get vouchers for what they had collected and then used those vouchers to buy lottery tickets! I think they should have given them food stamps instead. There are too many dollar stores now, I think. The fruit and vegetable market that we used to go to is also now a dollar store. I will say that the dollar store that used to be a Von's is much cleaner than the Von's was, and I did not shop at the Von's because it was not very nice. It would be nice if a dollar store would reopen as a vegetable market. Maybe I'll make pizzas this week-end and put some of my Roma tomatoes on them. I've been mostly avoiding cheese while I was sick, as I think it makes congestion worse. I think I'll be fully recovered by tomorrow. I want to make something besides soup. I did make some very good cabbage soup while I was sick, and it was quick and easy and much better than I expected, although it did not have much of a cabbage flavor. I had Kimchee flavored soup yesterday. I turn the TV off whenever anything Superbowl comes on - it's just a lot of annoying noise as far as I'm concerned. I've never posted on a TGIF thread before but I played hookie today so I could have a nice 4 day weekend. My weekend started last night. I bought that 5 minute artisan bread book and made a batch of the dough for today. I have only made bread in a bread machine prior to this. It mixed up easily in the mixer. Today I pulled it out and touched dough for the first time ever. It was a sticky mess. LOL I couldn't get it round so I plopped it on the peel. Then I decided it was way too flat so I picked it up and kept adding flour trying to get it round. What an amusing experience. I had flour all over my slippers and the dog by the time I was done. It wound up being the height off a ciabatta in the middle. We ate it for lunch even though it looked a little silly. The good news is I have a bowl full of dough in the fridge to keep trying. Any tips? Today must be a day of firsts. I have never had chili before because I am not a big fan of beans and I have only recently started liking spicy foods. I just made the RR chicken chorizo chili and it is simmering away. I can't wait to taste it. Clinking with an amaretto on the rocks from sunny S Florida. I may have to hit the hot tub ater dinner. Don't worry, I will be thinking of you freezing people the whole time. :-> I remember what zero felt like. Brrrr!!!

Good Friday morning! It's cool here (50 F.), but it was 39 when I got out of bed, and it was so cold in this house because our heater is on the fritz. The repairman is coming out at noon to fix things, I hope! Suzanne, I'm staying at the house until the divorce is final, 2 weeks from today, then I'll be moving up to Dallas the next morning. We're peacefully co-existing now, and that makes things so much easier. Dee, how worrisome for you that you're gaining weight. Hope you learn worthwhile info from your doc! I've got the questionnaire halfway filled out, but the days are overly full of farewell lunches and this and that for the move. I promise to get to it eventually. I am opting out of the ornament exchange this year because my life is too hectic to remember to do it, or if I were to do it, I'd probably misplace everything when it's time to mail. Lunch at Olive Garden today - the soup and salad. YUM! We did the refinancing yesterday, and it went well. H is being a good guy about having to do this. LOL San...Well it's our only bye weekend for Youth Football..so it's a lazy day..Hubby was going to go into work..but apparently the bed was to comfy..and he couldn't pull himself out...~Darn it kinda..coulda used that overtime $$~ I've been out in the garage rummaging and trying to figure what I can get myself into. LOL... I, like San, know what should and needs to be done..but I'm sure I can find something that will make me forget.. I have a few doors to knock on, to see if they will allow me to remove apples from their property that just are falling to the ground..if so that'll keep me a bit busy for a while. LOL The dog and I have been taking walks in the am...and she's been my shadow all day..she's like hey...I'm ready..where's the leash..I guess it won't hurt to put on the socks and shoes, grab the leash and get a quick stroll in... Have a wonderful weekend everyone...Football is always on here...but I only like to watch if I can watch my children..They don't play on tv YET......

Hi all, it's almost lunch time, and I am sitting here at my crappy job.

Have started sending out resumes....again. The pickin's is mighty slim out there...

Weekend plans? Not much. Tim has to work tomorrow. I am going to pick up some lansdcape pavers that a woman wants to get rid of, and maybe have lunch with a girlfriend.

My son is looking at a house to buy and I may go check out the open house on Sunday. It looks cute from the ads.

Grocery shopping for the week, and that's about it!

Will be raising my wine glass to the end of a long tough week around 6pm tonight! LOL

I had my Pilates class this morning. Here is our instructor showing us how to put our feet up in the stirrups and stretch our legs separately.

She is a tiny lady...about the same size as one of my granddaughters :-(. I'm bigger than she is, so I won't show a photo of me :-).

Had a nice long coffee after class and chat with my classmates and friends up in the coffee balcony after class, overlooking the tennis courts. I'm so glad to be able to have this chance to meet other English-speaking people from time to time.

Came home and cooked up a chicken stew and we sat outside on the patio watching the lowering sun on the garden.
Now I'm ready for a little coffee and siesta. I'm blessed and thankful that I have such a wonderful life!

Hello from soggy Seattle!

Have fun car shopping, Gina and AM. We just did that a few weeks ago, but it was painless because we knew what we wanted. After this Subaru, I imagine there will be more all wheel drive hybrid choices (I hope!). Though I do love my Outback.

Happy birthday to Meredith!

Linda, Liana is graduating in December and has been sending out resumes. She says the same thing about slim pickins. Of course she thinks she's gonna find the perfect job....ah the folly of youth, lol.

We pulled into Seattle last night and checked out (huge) Ikea. Today we're heading downtown to a pacific imports place, Pike Place Market, something seafood for lunch. Then I want to check out some recycled glass tiles for our bed/bath remodel and I have to go see the controversial Seattle Public Library (they had to spend 50K on signage because no one could find their way around....this oughtta be interesting).

Tonight we're having dinner with a friend from an internet forum from waaaay back, and tomorrow we'll hit Trader Joe's (yahoo!) and Whole Foods on our way out of town. Looks like we'll just beat snow in the passes.

Car and house shopping - it's Christmastime, I need to start much smaller this weekend. LOL

Gina, my kids are getting a ping pong table for Christmas. My 15 yr old thinks he's so good. I'd love to see you make him a little less cocky! I bet you'd kick butt.

It's actually a quiet weekend this weekend. Calm before the storm. I'll be driving up to NH Saturday and stacking wood (3 cords) I remember last weekend somebody had to do that too. I'm odd. I love stacking wood. Feels good to be out in the cool, crisp air. Good workout.

I didn't get to drink my bottle of wine that I got from Katie in the swap last weekend, so I'm planning to break that open tomorrow night.

OMG I am howling!

Happy car and house shopping to AM and Gina, we did that last week. We looked at a couple of hybrids too and I was surprised to hear that the electric part only works when you are driving 25 mph or less, otherwise it just runs on the gas engine like any other car. Not sure if that is true, but that is what the salesman said....

Chase - have fun at the "doo"! A martini will make anything tolerable! And felicitations to Meredith - what a lovely young woman she is.

Linda - good luck with the job search - hope you land something perfect.

Katie - have fun with your friends. It is so neat to be able to get together with 'Net friends!

Sharon - you do lead a blessed life - your day sounds divine.

Lori - I agree with you. Stacking wood is one of my very favorite fall "chores". Nothing like hard, honest work in nippy weather and a long soak in the tub with a hot toddy to ake you really appreciate the day.

I am in the middle of food prep for the Sweet 16 party. Hopefully I will have my act together enough to go out for a quick drink tonight - but we'll see. Tomorrow is "The Party" and Sunday is a day of rest on the couch to watch football.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEREDITH!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!! I Bet Will would like to come party with ya...he thinks he's 18, ya know...and has no problem with older women...especially adorable ones like you...:-)

And Sharon love that one - I've got to remember it - a business "gotta doo" how bout gotta doo-doo...that's more like it.

Linda, that sounds fun - an open house? Especially when it doesn't involve you packing your things? yep. fun. I love to go out in the evening before anyone has their curtains closed, but they do have their lights on. I make Scott drive real slow, so I can catch a glimpse inside houses...he thinks I'm deranged. Am open house is right up my alley. :-)

Sharon, thanks for the pic, I think. She looks amazing. I didn't do my yoga this AM, now I feel guilty.

Katie sounds like a fun weekend of shopping! We're getting some snow now - off and on all day. The Time of year for lake effect. The ground is covered but nothing worse.

Lori, I'm with Alexa - that statement - quietly in the middle of your post - caught me off guard. LOL

Alexa - I'm anxious to hear how the party goes. did you guys buy a chocolate fountain? Or two? I'm interested. Wondered the pound capacity and what you think of them...

We don't have big plans this weekend. Today was report card day so we better do something special with Will...:-)

On top of that, he is finally feeling better. All that bronchitis carp is just about over...sheesh.

Now he's off all next week - yea!!!!! I love it.

Meredith's 21? OMG, how time flies. Wish her a big Happy Birthday from the CFers!

Lori, have your 15yo search online for videos of Olympic table tennis games - it's wild! There are also lesson videos online. If he REALLY gets into it, check the US table tennis assoc. site for instruction available in your area.

I've been studying and looking at the used car inventories online, and I think I've narrowed it down - I'll post on converations to see what y'all think.

Good luck with the car shopping, Gina and AM! We just got a new Jeep. I really, really wanted a Wrangler, but it'll have to wait, I'm still in the carpool stage! We ended up with a Grand Cherokee. Love Jeeps, this is our third one!
