Hopefully whoever is drawing your plans can help with the code stuff. There are some here that are good with that stuff. I'm not one of them, but I have picked up some stuff reading here. I think if you prefer the style where the closet is accessed through the bath, then I would definitely try for a door to the toilet. I would keep it in the footprint of the old hallway as you drew, but nudge the bottom wall down even with the bedroom wall to get 60 inches. Leave the shower as is. Consider having the door open into the bedroom so it doesn't interfere with the WC door, or consider a pocket door. You could also use lateral hinges, and that opens the option of designing the door to blend with the wall for a hidden room look. I think you should reconfigure the closet a bit too. Only 12 inches between hanging rows will almost certainly not be enough to allow access to the back half of the rows. I'd guess you might get away with it for shallow rows, but I think 48 inch rows will need more space. Since narrow doorways are 24 inches, I'd guess that would be a decent minimum, but 30-36 would probably be more comfortable. I really haven't read much about closets though. Hopefully someone with some insight will be able to comment. Those windows make things interesting! I sense you are having the same issues I did trying to design around them, though I think it can be done.

I don't think weight would be an issue but you can always ask the cultured marble vendor what the total weight would be for a completed unit. Don't forget the glass enclosure also adds a lot of weight, too, and will depend on the thickness of the glass used. Our shower is a 38" neo-angle with two slab walls, edge molding and two storage units (one inset, one corner). Cost in 2003 was $1200 exclusive of glass enclosure. If you decide to get an acrylic or fiberglass unit, just make sure the base is properly supported. These materials are brittle and crack easily in any unsupported spot. Also, be sure to use only mfg-approved cleaners. I ruined our acrylic tub by using a cleaner that damaged the gloss topcoat, and could never keep it clean looking afterwards.

Actually yes, they have also proposed a cabinet in front of the pipe enclosure. - The cabinet must face left, not out of the closet, because it needs to be mounted on the right wall of the closet. - The cabinet cannot go all the way to the closet ceiling, because there is an overhang/soffit at the front of the closet. Do you see any issues with making the cabinet face left, or with having it not go to the true ceiling? We were shying away from this because it was starting to feel a bit cobbled together. Hi @gigi4321! We still haven't done the glass enclosure because of the exterior remodeling we've been focused on, but are working on getting a new quote next week and are hoping to have the enclosure installed within the next 2-3 weeks (finally). I'll be asking the tech and installer's opinions before I finalize anything, but while I do genuinely prefer black hardware (and will be using that elsewhere in the house, such as door hinges, handles, and kitchen cabinet handles), I also really want the mosaic in the shower to pop as much as possible. We designed and built that entire shower area around the glass and marble mosaic and don't want it overshadowed by black hardware, though are definitely willing to take other opinions on whether black hardware would overshadow or just offset. ETA: We do make our overall decision in the context of how we're changing the rest of the bathroom. i.e., we are replacing the mirror completely, likely with no border or at least something neutral/barely existent; we'll replace the lights with the appropriate hardware to match the shower enclosure; and we're likely replacing the sink counter top with something white/marble-looking.
