Not anymore! I wore glasses from age 9 to 43. Got Lasik and I'm eyeglass free!

Not anymore, had PRK laser surgery a few years ago. I love it, no more wet/fogged up glasses in bad weather and I love being able to see the minute I wake up in the morning.

Both kids wear glasses/contacts. They got it from me since their father doesn't wear them.

I do wear glasses, and have for many years. I also have Computer glasses.

Even if you wear $ store glasses, I would suggest you have an eye exam by an Ophthalmologist, just to be sure you get the right strength and not cause harm to your eyes.

I just wear reading glasses from Costco. I have 1 daughter who wears glasses, and 2 wear contacts.

Worn glasses since I was 27. Tried contact lenses a few times and found they were too much hassle with my dry eyes. I do wear them if DH and going dancing though.

I need glasses to read but not to "see". I first got glasses when I couldn't read the numbers in the crossword puzzle in the paper. I can see clearly right to the horizon but I can't read anything a foot in front of my face.

I had cataract surgery...It's so wonderful not to have to wear glasses. I have to use reading glasses to read anything but I beat that problem by wearing one contact and using the mono vision concept. It's just wonderful...my glasses I always hated.

I wore glasses until I had lasik done one one eye a few years ago. Now I have monovision an I love it.

I've worn them since I was about 8. They sure have gotten expensive by the time you add on a few things like anti-glare.

Marilyn, it's a good idea to have an optometrist give you an eye exam every couple years at least. You could also see an opthalmologist, but I don't think that's necessary unless you are having trouble. Don't know your age obviously, but in later years we need to watch for glaucoma, macular degeneration and macular holes and probably other fun stuff too. LOL!

I've worn monovision contacts since 1990. I've never worn glasses, but keep saying I'm going to get some.

:), only when I want to see! With other words, yes, all the time, cept for sleeping and such.

Since I was four years old. Contact lenses don't work for me.

I have two pair. Clear, with bifocal for reading, and my sun/cycling glasses, now also with bifocal, for reading maps and directions.

Both daughters wear glasses now too. The youngest just the last five years.

Yes, I have the progressive ones (trifocals). I wouldn't mind having the Lasix. I've worn glasses since I was in the second grade (I did wear contacts for a while).

I've need glasses since I was in 3rd grade, I'm now 55. So yep, glasses or contact lenses. Now I wear monovision contacts and love them, been wearing them for about 12 years and they work great for me tho I know some have trouble adjusting to them.

Since I was 13, am 57 now. I use to wear contacts till my 30's then I got a bad eye infection and developed scar tissue or at least that is what the Ophthalmologist said so couldn't wear them anymore. I wanted to get the eye surgery but Ophthalmologist said I am not a good candidate.

I wear reading glasses from $ Tree--$1. a pair. I probably have 20 pairs scattered all over the house and in both cars. I got to the hosp. last week for my volunteer work and didn't have any, so DH had to bring me a pair. When you pay a whole $ for your glasses you really should take better care of them. My eye doc told me the strength to buy and suggested $ Tree.

BiFocals for me. Have worn glasses since 4th grade.

used to wear contacts but got tired of them. And I am not eligible for Lasik Surgery

I had catarac surgery a couple of months ago, so I don't wear glasses now, except for reading. I had worn them since 4th grade, and I am now 59 - it's a true blessing not to have to wear them anymore!

I've had cataract surgery, but still have to wear trifocals, due to astigmatism. I don't mind wearing them.

I have worn glasses since I was 9 and they really don't bother me at all. I went thru stages where I wore contacts, but really, to me they were a lot of hassle.

My glasses are pricey- progressive, high-index,non-reflective, wire frames with magnetic sunglasses that snick on, but since I only get new ones every 3 years or so, they are fairly cost effective. My prescription doesn't change a lot. And glaucoma runs in the family, so I get checked for that every year.

Yes I wear glasses. I have to go to the eye doctor every 4 months because I have glaucoma. I have had it since I was 18 years old. It is a good thing to go every so often for any eye exam since glaucoma has NO symptoms...until you are stone cold blind that is! My Aunt had no idea she was blind in one eye from glaucoma until she was rubbing one eye and realized she could not see out of the other one. Glaucoma is inherited, so it is best to have check-ups if anyone in your family has or had glaucome.

DH and DD have both worn glasses since age 4. I don't wear glasses for driving, I can see everything except street signs. I wear those cheapie readers for the computer and reading. I have readers stashed all over the house.

Nope, hopefully I can get away with not wearing them for another few years yet.

Have worn glasses for the past 50 years, and don't mind them at all. I could have lasik done by one of the country's top 50 eye surgeons (dd's boss) at a reduced rate, and I'm a very good candidate for it because I have extraordinarily thick corneas, but just am not interested. Glasses simply don't bother me.

As to cost of glasses--try going to the college in your area where opticians are trained. They often have a dispensary where they sell prescription glasses at cost. My last pair cost me about $180--that's INCLUDING designer frames with magnetic sunglasses, VARILUX progressives (top of the line brand), and the top of the line none glare coating. Same glasses in DD's shop, even with the family discount would have been about $800. Actually, that was the cost before my insurance picked up their portion, so they actually cost me even less than that.

Lastly, I cannot emphasize strongly enough that EVERYONE, of ANY age should have their eyes examined by an OPTHALMOLOGIST every few years. Not an optometrist--they're NOT medical drs. Optometrists are okay for prescriptions for glasses or contacts, but don't have the same equipment or training that an opthalmologist does. Everyone should periodically have the health of their eyes examined--there are too many conditions that can rob you of your sight, that if detected early can be treated effectively. So please--even if you save money buying reading glasses at the dollar store (they won't hurt your eyes, even if you guess the wrong strength--that's a fallacy), still take the time to have your eyes checked by a real dr. at least every 2-3 years. I say that as someone who has had an eye condition for the past 30 years, that would have gone undetected and untreated had I figured, well I can see, so no need to go to the eye dr.

I have worn them since Jr High and don't mind them at all. There was a period of 10 years that I would have been able to wear them, but the doc said you need to be really determined to adjust to them. I decided not to, I am sure it is easier today than then.

Yes, no line bifocals. I had cataract surgery several years ago and Dr. place the Crystalens in that were suppose to take care of need for glasses. It didn't. I have astigmatism, and he said I needed more "fine tuning." (Surgery) Nada, just give me glasses.

Yes, I have always worn glasses. I needed them at age 4, and I have worn them ever since.

My gross astigmatism didn't allow me to wear contact lenses whay back when, although I know they are an option now.

But both contacts and eye surgery just give me the creeps!! Stay the hell away from my eyeballs! I have trouble with the puff of air or touch the eyeball test to check for glaucoma, and I opt for the more expensive retinal digital scan. There's a note on my chart "Never offer the crazy woman contacts!! She may hit you!", LOL.

I like my glasses, and living in a fairly windy area, I appreciate them. They keep crap out of my eyes, and just generally offer a protective barrier.

All my life, and now I can't see well with any pair I own. I need for driving although the notation on my license has been removed since now that I've gotten older, my eyesight is reversing. I don't use them because I can't see but better with them. I also have reading and computer ones. The readers don't do well for me on the computer. I just got a new Rx, so maybe I can combine the two. Funny, I'm not supposed to wear store-boughts, but they seem to help better than anything else.

One thoght - have your eyes checked. Your eyes are the key to your soul, and can often be the trigger for IDing a disease. My optomotrist noticed something in my eyes and told me to go to the Dr. because she thougth I was diabetic. Well, she was right. I thank her everyday for that. Even after having had lab tests forever, it wasn't addressed until I told my reg. Dr. what the eye Dr. had said.

Wore glasses from the age of 17, and should have them before that, until the age of 62 when I had cataract surgery. That was 10 years ago and was amazing how much better I could see, do have to use a pair of low strength reading glasses for reading the last year or so.

I have worn glasses for the past twenty years. Current pair is an antique silver pair from 1920 with etching on the top of the rim.

I wear glasses (nearsighted). Worn glasses since 3rd grade and contact lenses throughout high school and into the 80s. Now I wear no-line bifocals with wire frames.

Most of my life, I have worn glasses because I am nearsighted. Last year, I was told I needed reading glasses also, so I opted for progressive bifocals rather that keeping up with two pairs of glasses. You know, it's funny but there have been times lately that I haven't worn my glasses and my distance vision seems to have improved. I'm going for an exam next week so it will be interesting to see what, if anything, has improved. Has anyone heard of certain diets helping to improve eyesight over the years?

clubm, that is me exactly. Glasses have never bothered me until I my cataracts got bad.

I have a pair of computer glasses which I need replaced, but with cataracts being a problem I don't think I will bother. I will just squint.
