You guys are all so nice (what would I do without GW through this past 2+ years?) and yes, DH is quite relieved both that he doesn't have to spend a day or two on the floor leveling cabs and also that he didn't royally mess it all up. Course, I told him he's not fired now and I think he was looking forward to some time off, haha, too bad baby! So, we have 3 more cabs to be installed this Wed. and the trim guy is coming this week also... I'm hoping to be able to post the reveal purty soon. The guy building the cabs is going in for surgery this Wed. so he'll be out of commission until May and I'm not sure he got the pantry door finished, so if not, I almost feel like I have to wait for that to be completed before the reveal, ugh.... he said he'd try so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he got to it today. But closer and closer!

Well ... it's finished. The painting, that is. It's been non-stop painting around here for the past week. Painting around all the kitchen trim was more labor-intensive than I realized it would be, and as of this posting, I am beyond exhausted. But thrilled with the new look in the kitchen! I went to take a couple of pics, and discovered that my camera battery needs charging, so pics will have to wait for now. I wasn't sure about the BM Warren Acres when it first went up on the walls, but now that the entire space is complete, I'm thrilled with the color and don't think we could have chosen anything better. It's warm and soft and definitely provides the vintage vibe I was after, especially against the red woodwork. Think old red and green wooden handled kitchen gadgets! I have a collection of about 60 (gasp!) Mexican decorative items and themed artwork that are now going to be sold. It feels a bit like parting with old friends, but I'm ready to shift gears. DH keeps wandering into the kitchen and remarking about how open and airy it feels without so much clutter everywhere, and even he can't believe what a difference the lighter wall color makes. Pics will be coming, but for now I wanted to say thanks again to everyone for encouraging me and inspiring me! Young-gardener, Sugarberry Cottage is to die for! What a wonderful place! And Lkplatow - thanks very much for the info on the old clocks! I was just looking at one a little while ago on eBay that had been converted from electric to battery-operated, so from that I knew that it was possible. If I find an oldie that I like, I'll just need to find a local clock repairman, and I'm sure that will be fairly easy to do.

This was a plant that was in dire need of sunlight when I found it. I don't belive it was a cutting as it has a nice root system and has been in my cactus soil/sand/perlite mix for about a month. At first in the partial indirect sunlight and now against the window. I have an additional bulb for warmth and light over my plants as well in this terribly overcast CT winter. I was watering it with my other modest succulents (every 5~10 days, depending) and was worried about increasing since it had been away from the sun and was shrivel when I found it. I haven't had any luck with beheadings growing new roots and don't want to try again until spring or summer since I've read this can contribute to issues (non growing season). I have also read about just removing the lower leaves, allowing the empty stem to dry for a bit and then burying more of the stem in the ground to approve it's appearance and make way for further root development. However being new to this I'm not sure how I should proceed, thanks!

It appears the pitch was flattened from the original plan? This makes the serrated gables look off and results in a very challenging standing seam detail. The panel rib spacing won't line up with the awkward valleys that come to points at the eave. Yes bad workmanship but design seems to deserve much of the blame. Other than sticking to original roof plan or improving dormer design I think the move would have been perfecting the valley intersections first and accepting less than ideal panel rib alignment.
