Patti43 sounds like it will be a joyful holiday for you being with your family. I am having brunch for my two daughters and their families then they will go to their respective inlaws (one DD and family) and I may go to second daughters for dinner. My family always had lamb for Easter dinner but that has gone by the wayside. I am spending Palm Sunday with my sister and her husband and I am cooking the traditional dinner- Leg of lamb, roasted potatoes, asparagus, rolls and probably a second veggie or salad. In the "old days" home made ravioli would have also been on the menu. Whatever you serve Im sure you will have a wonderful day. Satine

I will plan on going to church and then have a cookout with the kids. Ham will be on the menu, hot dogs, and burgers, plus buffet potatoes, baked beans, cheesecake and raspberry pie. There will be other things but have not completed the menu yet.

We are having prime rib this year (mainly because we have one in the freezer). This is our menu--but I keep changing it.

Prime Rib
Horseradish sauce
Gruyere potatoes
Glazed carrots
Corn and green bean casserole or asparagus
Rolls
Graham cracker pudding

The graham cracker pudding is a recipe from my mother and is like a cooked vanilla custard in a graham cracker crust. It will be a good memory for my sisters, who have probably forgotten about it.

Later in the day we'll snack on:

Goat cheese/pesto/roasted red pepper torte
Crackers
Sweet-spicy pecans
Sweet-hot pickles

I'm having brunch the next day--interested in what you are making for your brunch. What time are you having yours? I'm thinking 10:30?? Anyone else having brunch? Or if you've had one in the past, what did you serve? My brain froze shortly after figuring out Easter dinner :-)

Glenda, maybe brunch would work out better with your son's busy family--'ya think?

with all the parents my kid's spouses have, we just take it easy, lol...

as for menu, we trim down to ham steak, a potato salad and green salad...do splurge on breakfast and buy hot cross buns...

I am going to sunrise service, helping with the brunch at church and then going to the regular service. I will probably nap in the afternoon since I will get up so early. I help with the brunch every year and really enjoy it.

Our family doesn't do anything for Easter, so I've gotten my tickets to Patti43's house. Don't forget to set a place for me.

We'll spend the weekend at the house in the country. Easter morning, DD will come down and we'll go out to brunch at a restaurant we all like. The menu? If I recall correctly--custom-made omelettes, crepes made to order, pancakes, waffles, french toast, assorted meats, home fries, fresh fruit, pastries... am sure I've forgotten something, but that's a start. Everything's delicious, and the place is so gorgeous.

Afterwards, we won't eat for the rest of the day.

Sue, I just know you're going to have a huge menu before the holiday gets here. I always love to read all the food you cook!

Azzalea, after all that brunch it's no wonder you don't want to eat later. However, my family loves to nosh, no matter what!! Our DH's say the only time my sisters and I aren't talking is when we're eating. Well, that's true!

We will probably be going down home to Louisiana, my poor mother is having surgery that week to amputate some of her toes which have become severely infected, she has really had a rough time. The hip replacement then the beginning of the memory problems moving her into a permanent facility, and now this. So if all goes as planned we are supposed to go down to see her and visit with the family for a little bit.
I actually had not even realized it was Easter weekend.
We have had so much going on I am feeling lost in space!

Ravencajun, I'm sorry about your mother. It's so hard. Sigh! Hope you have a good visit with the rest of your family, though.

I'm cooking my roast using your high heat method. I'm sure it'll be perfect! (And yes, I will think of you when I put it in the oven.)

We have not made as huge a deal at Easter dinner as we do Thanksgiving and Christmas. I am thinking of a ham, asparagus, corn pudding, au gratin potatoes, mince meat peaches, and some kind of dessert. Our SIL has to watch his sweets, so he only indulges if it is a chocolate dessert, so I may make something chocolate. Don't know what though. It needs to be special, though I am tempted to make The Next Best Thing to Robert Redford, though I don't know if the rest of the family likes it as much as I do or if they will think it is fancy enough for a holiday meal.

Nothing much this year. My daughter & husband just came for a visit the beginning of March from FL. With the passing of my other daughter in Dec we still don't feel like doing the holidays as they were so special to her. I thing we will have turkey since I did not have it for Christmas. Hope everyone has a great Easter.

I always have Easter at my house, but this year is wait and see. My DD is expecting and the baby is due April 11th. She went to the doctor yesterday and had dialated a bit, so anytime in the next two weeks. She lives 500 miles away from me. So it's wait and see, if I am here I will have Easter for DS and his family, MIL and DH's brother and his family, if they come. If not I will have Easter at DD's.
I always have ham, pineapple sauce, potato casserole, homemade rolls, deviled eggs and whatever veggies and salads sound good. Dessert is never the same, changes year to year.

I have been reading all these posts and looking forward to seeing my sister for Palm Sunday. I guess between the two I have been remembering the Easters I had with my family when growing up. My parents were both Italian and we had many holiday traditions. I hate to admit it but I am just too lazy to keep most of the traditions going. I would give anything to have my whole family back for just one more holiday. My mother, father and brother are all gone as is my husband who picked up on my families traditions and cooked and baked many of my family favorites. Where does the time go. Sorry, getting a little melancholy. Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday. Satine
