Do You Have Plans For Easter?

I think we are pitching in and having dinner at Amber and Mike's this Easter. I have a ham in the freezer and sweet potatoes from the garden and I don't know what all else I will fix. Do you have plans for Easter dinner?

No I don't, our family never celebrated it except to go to church as they usually did. We only celebrated Thanksgiving and Christmas.

We always have Easter dinner at our house, and I guess we will be doing that again this year. I probably won't be able to make as much food as usual, though.

Gail, I have have some lovely Yarrow "Cassis" and some Cerastium tomentosum, for you from the Easter Bunny. I am also awaiting an order from Derry Watkins for an unnamed pink Bush Clover Lespedeza thunbergii AGM, which I would be willing to trade for a split of something interesting from your pending commercial order. Would you like to continue by e-mail? Bev

What Day Are You Having Your Easter Dinner?

Our Easter dinner will be on Sunday afternoon. We only have about half of the family. Our oldest son and his family are vacationing in FL. I have a very easy meal planned. The cooking will be done on the grill. We'll have ham slices and I think I can heat the twice-baked potatoes on the top shelf in the grill. I hope to bake some special bread tomorrow. For dessert we will have Strawberry shortcake and lemon bars. We will only have one little kid, but we will have a egg hunt, indoors. I think the weather is expected to be nice and warm. Yesterday was up in the 70's, which is amazing for MN, but it is already humid out there.

Do You Have Plans For Mother's Day?
Q

Plans are not made yet for us - usually DS, DIL, and GS take me out to breakfast with DH. Last year we then went to our local children's park to play with GS. Then they go to her parent's house for her Mother's Day. However, this year is special because my son's birthday falls on Mother's Day. He will be turn 32 and is my one and only child. My husband and I had infertility problems and I ended up having surgery so that I could get pregnant. We tried for 7 years to have a child and lost 2 in miscarriages. I got pregnant a month after surgery to my doctor's surprise. Had a wonderful pregnancy, had him by C-section. Never used birth control again and never got pregnant again! So he is my miracle baby and whatever he wants to do Sunday, we will do! After all, I told him, I wouldn't be a Mom without him!

Do you have Thanksgiving (and other holiday) plans?

Cases are the highest ever here in PA at almost 5000 today. I have not been in anyone's home for nine months except for my daughter's. They live a few miles from me and both work from home and have since March. Their son has his first real job after just graduating from college in the spring and mainly works at home too. He does fieldwork occasionally. We all ate at a newly opened seafood restaurant last Sat. to celebrate husband's birthday but we were at a large table outside on their porch near no one. Today I read it's four times more likely you'll get covid from eating inside at a restaurant versus the gym or even church. I guess we'll have thanksgiving at the daughter's house and the only extra person will be my son-in-law's 86 year old mother who lives in a retirement community. But if my daughter doesn't want to do it I'll understand.

I'm going to have a big family feast on Sat. My youngest DD and her family live 125 miles away, and I know they want their boys in their church for Easter, and I'm so glad they go to church, that I thought we'd do it Sat. I always dye eggs w/ the grands--most children have never done that--they're so used to the plastic things.

I know what each one in my family likes, and that will determine the menu. I'll make enough to feed an army. LOL My GD that goes to Texas A&M is always happy to take leftovers home w/ her. I basically HATE to cook unless it is a big family dinner, and I know the only picky person there will be my DH, so, I'll enjoy preparing food that will be eaten and appreciated.

This Easter is my DD's 3rd birthday! Someone told me it would be 1,000 years before that happened again? Who knows? Anyway, we'll have her party the following week.

Pretty simple, probably do Easter baskets in the morning for the girls, church with my mom, then home to try and NOT eat all the chocolate from the baskets. I think it will just be the 4 of us for dinner-haven't planned a menu yet? I'm not a Ham person, so maybe just chicken? And DH loves scalloped potatoes.

And yes we'll dye eggs the night before. We all LOVE to do that. Maybe 2-3 dozen. This year it will be nicer because my youngest will eat hard boiled eggs too. Years past it was just me eating a few tossing the rest!

Think we'll do what we did last year. Instead of spending the weekend cooking and cleaning, I just made reservations at a local restaurant for DH, DD and I for brunch. I know some of the extended family was probably disappointed, but a lot of them have been making their own plans over the years, anyway. And the brunch was out of this world. DD wants to get back there--and so do I. It was so nice to let someone ELSE to the cooking for a change.

Marilyn, every time I see you write Amber and Mike it startles me. You see, that's the name of my kids. :-)

We'll be in the air on Easter, flying home from Florida after a two week cruise through the Panama Canal with stops in Central and South America towns.

I am going to sunrise service at 7:30 a.m. Our church has it's sunrise service at Reiman Gardens, which is beautiful. It is indoors in the conservatory. Seating is limited so there are 2 services, one at 6:30. After the service I will go to the church basement and help serve the Easter brunch. I always take two dozen muffins for the brunch. I think the brunch is from 7:30 to 10:30 and there is lots to do to keep the buffet tables filled with egg casseroles, muffins, fruit, juice, coffee and tea.

no..usually the kids have plans with the in-laws, and that's ok...3 of the kids have 2 sets of in-laws, lol...

i do have a couple of fond memories of easter sunday...one, after church we drove from la to palm springs and froze! the other was as a senior in hs. we "worked" easter sunrise service at the hollywood bowl, in exchange for using it for graduation...i often wonder if hollywood hi does that anymore...
