GE Cafe French Refrigerator Do you have one?
Comments (1)We are looking at it too so I would be interested to hear from anyone who has one. In the store it looked like the ice/filter/hot water unit took up a lot of the left side door storage so there were just tiny shelves but then you don't have the lost space in the bottom freezer or anywhere else. I liked that it was "flat" in the front instead of slightly rounded. the Shelves seemed a little flimsy but maybe they are just thinner than I am used to....See MoreDo you consider resale value when you decorate?
Comments (27)I don't think we've worried too much about resale, even as we've completed major kitchen and master bath remodels in the last 18 months. However, with the more permanent/expensive projects, we have looked to the long run, and have tried to make choices that we believe will be pleasing to us in the coming years. Hence, "classic" choices of cabinetry (white-painted maple, raised panel), while making bolder or riskier choices on items that are comparatively easier to replace (cork floors). In our master bath, we've ripped out the hated Jacuzzi tub (never used, waste of space) and gone with our heart and gotten the large walk-in shower, even though some experts would say you MUST have a bathtub. Our biggest statements have been paint colors. We choose for US, and both of us LOVE color. Chili pepper red dining room, bronze-green living room, deep coral family room, searing green kitchen, etc. Those colors have changed in the past, and will change again, but not to beige. Interestingly, in our prior home, we were a bit more cautious, knowing we would move. Nevertheless, it didn't stop us from painting the living room and dining room hunter green, wallpapering an accent wall in the kitchen, and painting all the moldings and trims to coordinate. Our realtor advised us to paint/neutralize before listing the house, but we asked him to give it a try "as is." Maybe we got lucky, but in a very flat mid-90s real estate market, where identical homes were languishing, ours sold in a matter of days to a young couple who liked our decor so much, they offered to buy our furniture as well. Serendipity, for sure, but our house stood out....See MoreDo not buy KitchenAid Cafe-door style fridge KFCS22EVMS
Comments (0)Bought this refrigerator in 2014. We loved its look. Since then we've dealt with a spate of minor but costly and really frustrating repairs. First problem: produce on the bottom shelf froze. A repair guy finally told us you cannot have anything on the top shelf in front of the blower, which means.... there's markedly less space than we thought, and someone periodically makes a mistake, and our food freezes again. Then, the water filter started making a jackhammering sound, not fixed by appliance guy, new filter, or plumber. Installed a filter on the main to bypass useless fridge filter. THEN the ice machine began making a singe solid block of congealed ice cubes. Ice machine completely replaced in 2017 at almost $500 cost. Five months later, the ice machine is now overproducing ice, which flies everywhere whenever you open the freezer. There is no excuse for this: it was NOT a cheap fridge, I will never buy KitchenAid again....See MoreDo you have new(er) Cafe fridge or GE Profile fridge? Your feedback..
Comments (8)julieste, still searching? If the fridge was larger capacity, it would be PERFECT! w/the counter depth you have to sacrifice space, so, that's the downside. There isn't a ton of room inside to store things. And I wish the bins would pull out farther. Ditto on the freezer pullout tray. The tech explained how the crisper drawers circulate the air to keep fruits / veggies fresh. my berries will keep for over a week! In my previous Samsung they would rot in two days. he explained why, too long to go into here. take my word for it. I'm happy w/the function of the fridge. I believe it's 22 cub inches. not sure what the regular size is. you can see from the pic how adding another 6 inches in depth would have made this stick out way too far. BTW, their customer service was also good. upon delivery, the door was marred from the packing tape. They sent out a new door. when the tech was installing it, something happened and he scratched or dented the area around the ice maker. Guess what? another door. and then when that came out, I think something else happened. Anyway, I got THREE new doors for this fridge and they fixed it w/o hassle. (would have been cheaper just to send a new fridge) if you want the bronze handles, those cost extra and they deliver those in a fancy, smancy package. Like gold sceptres or something...See MoreVertise
