Living in NYC, one sees strange things of all kinds all the time! And you get used to seeing celebrities wherever you go. But once I was hurrying up 57th Street when I passed Jackie Kennedy going the other way. I was well past her before I realized who she was, and I did a huge double take. She turned around, too, and gave me a knowing grin.

Here in peaceful Pennsylvania, my family and I were eating supper one summer evening when we heard a strange noise and looked up to see a huge, colorful, gorgeous balloon landing in a field in back of our house. We all ran out, and the kids got to go up (a few feet) in the balloon. Haven't seen one since.

I saw a UFO when i was young. I was looking out our kitchen window and I saw this "thing" hovering off in the distance. When I ran outside it took off down our street. I don't know what it was but I sure know what it wasn't....(hot air balloon, weather balloon, blimp)

I live in Texas, and you ask what strange things I've seen?
1.Easter Island statues in the Hill Country of Texas.
2.A man popping a beer in the back row of the funeral parlor while the service was going on.
3.Baptist ladies digging through a garbage can to retrieve Billy Fred's beer cans to finance a Baptist project. Billy Fred, ever the gentleman, got another garbage can to put his Bud Light cans in for the ladies so they wouldn't have to dumpster dive.
4.People next door swearing they had a wolf/dog mix that looked and howled exactly like a coyote (and this was in town).
5.A woman showing up on our front porch sans teeth and shoes, wiping her feet on the mat and telling my husband, "Oh, yeah, you're the Damn Yankee."
Never a dull minute in this state!

Cool: In the subway in Washington, DC when Joe and I were there on vacation, first time we had ever gone on a subway. Waiting for the train and there are 4 black guys singing in a style like The Temptations, very cool. We looked at each other and said at almost the same time "It's just like they show on tv!".

Odd: In Ottawa, walking down the street and a guy dressed as a Buddist Monk walks past....I don't know if he was a monk or just dressed as one, but it wasn't Halloween. You don't see that every day.

This sounds like I'm lying or that I was dreaming, but when I was living in SE Asia a beggar approached me for a handout which was not uncommon. A policeman was standing there too and when I started to hand the beggar some coins the policeman wouldn't let me give them to the begger, so he(the beggar) took a lighter out of his pocket and set his clothes on fire!

One night our doorbell rang in the middle of the night and of course my husband was out of town so it was just me and the kids. Our bedrooms were on the 2nd floor and instead of going down and opening the door I opened my bedroom window and asked who it was. There was a very bloody man standing outside and asking for help because he'd been stabbed!

Once while walking a side-street in London, DH and I heard music approaching. We turned around to see a bus coming down the street with all-male band/dancers on TOP of the bus -- the strangest part was that they were playing the theme from Spiderman. This was 12 years before the movie.

While working in a hair salon in the 70's, the front door opened, and in came a a man wearing only tennis shoes. He stopped for a moment and ran through the shop, and out the back door he went. That was my first, but not last sighting of a streaker. It was a very popular dare back in the day....lol

We were awakened once in the middle of the night by the doorbell. A policeman stood there with his flashlight and asked us what we knew about the VW that was upside down in our front yard. We had no idea what had happened- our bedroom was in the back of the house and we didn't hear anything. I don't remember the outcome of the incident- it was 40 years ago.

Its funny you should mention that-I heard "The Streak" on satellite radio last week. A couple of years ago DD and I were standing at the our mailbox and something made us both turn and look up the street. A wall of heavy rain was approaching fast. We both stood there dumbstruck watching it and-yep- it hit us and we were instantly drenched and went running to the garage. Another real strange thing-in the 79's my family was hiking and came to an abandoned house. All if the windows were intact but curved way outward like big bubbles.

I was driving with a girlfriend to a wedding we were attending some distance from home. My speed on the highway was about 65 mph, a car behind us caught my eye because it seemed to be going much faster than normal, so I moved over to let it pass. I wondered aloud to my girlfriend at how fast they must be going, it had to have been over 90 mph or better. As the car passed we both looked over to see two little grey haired old ladies, the driver barely able to see over the steering wheel and seemingly chatting up a storm not watching the road ahead.
The car was pointed directly into the concrete divider! Both tires on the drivers side hit the divider, which sent the car up onto the two remaining tires on the passengers side. The car wobbled and tipped it's way down that divider for what seemed like forever...looking as though it was going to topple over onto it's roof at any moment. Something you'd see in a movie.
The car somehow miraculously righted itself and bounced hard 3 or 4 times back onto the pavement and those two little old ladies kept right on racing down the freeway as though not a thing had happened!
My girlfriend and I had to pull over to the side of the road for the near heart attack we both were feeling! We sat speechless in the car for several minutes before being able to continue on our own journey.
And to this day whenever we're in the car together we ask "So, how's my driving" LOL!

I saw a UFO back in the early 80's. My parents kept saying it was just a plane, but planes don't stay in the same spot for 5 minutes before they just 'vanish'. It was dark outside and this thing had different colored lights that moved along the bottom of it - red, green, blue, maybe yellow?

I really can't think of anything I have seen that impressed me as strange. I spent my teens in the sixties divided between the Haight,Berkeley and East Bay amongst Hippies,Demonstrators and various motorcycle clubs. That pretty much cover a lot of strange to be seen if you are a casual observer I guess.

When I was a small child my Grandmother and mother would go to visit visit the Gypsies in their camp by a carnival to get their fortunes told. There was a goat there that ate cigarettes. I was given coins to play roulette there that had a rat picking out the numbers.

My best friend says I have had a strange adventurous life. To me it was pretty normal (boring). Strange is relative.

I guess my DS, my DD and myself are the strange. DD and I like to costume up and visit places when it isn't Halloween. DD once came into a bar with a couple of friends wearing togas who proceeded to grab me and ordain me into some made-up "Order of Lesbian Goddesses". LOL

DS has his own brand of showmanship. Here's an excerpt of one his escapades that was published. Friend wrote:

We proceeded to talk -----into riding his ZX-6 down the stairs of TGI Fridays. -----not content to simply ride down the stairs proceeded to drop the the clutch about 40 feet back and rocket off the top step. All I remember is seeing a ZX-6 complete with luggage sailing through the air 3 feet off the ground. -----Landed a good six feet past the bottom steps in a shower of sparks and a suspension crunching thud that undid any work that ---- ---- had put into that motorcycle.Amazing he remained upright and it only cost him his steering head bearing and broken Givi luggage mounts. Later he was heard to mutter, "I could've gone faster, I had more than enough room to stop."

So you see "strange" is relative.

I once saw a man and his "slave" in the mall. They were both dressed pretty much S/M and she was adorned with a collar with spikes and the leash that went with it. She knew a bunch of commands, too, I betcha! LOL

I just kept wondering what mothers were telling their kids! LOL

I saw something. . . I do not know what it was. I walked to the door of a bedroom in the back of a house where there was no exit. I saw what appeared to be a man who died a few months earlier. Something told me not to go in the room, so I went on down the hall to the living room  just a few steps away. Then it dawned on me, "it must have been his son who looked like him," and I ran back to the room. Nobody was in the room and there was no other way out but down the hall right past me. His son was two states away.

Late one summer night in 1964, from the window of my hotel in downtown Chicago on Wacker drive, I saw people in a long parade, on the bridge over the Chicago river... in long white gowns and tall peaked hoods, carrying crosses and long black cars sporting Confederate flags.

The next day, I saw another parade, of uniformed members of the Nazi party also marching....down LaSalle St.

I'm so jealous of you all, I can't recall ever seeing any thing so exciting as any of this stuff!
I've had a couple of experiences (don't we all?) but not stuff like this.

Years ago in Tucson Ariz. I and others (airmen) saw a UFO over "A" Mountain. AFB weather and other operators couldn't explain it.

Hubby and I were dating and riding around in the mountains. We came across a big SUV that had hit a tree. A drunk man got out and his head was bleeding. He was waving a pistol as he staggered up to us. We were ready to leave and hubby said put the pistol down and he did.
We told him we would go for help (no cell phone then) and he insisted we take the pistol because he was not allowed to have it. About a mile away until we found a place with lights on. They called the cops/ambulance. We went back and hubby looked in the SUV and the thing was full of dead squirrels.
The cops looked all over the SUV. After the ambulance hauled the drunk away they asked if he gave us his gun. Yup and we gave it right to the cops.

We went to Mt. Saint Mary's college to see the shrine to Saint Elizabeth Seaton. It is up a steep hill. Hubby went on ahead and I was passed by 3 monks in brown. When I got to the top I asked hubby where the monks went and he never saw them.

I saw speckled king snake eat a diamond backed water snake once. The water snake wasn't much smaller than the king snake.

By the way, almost all snakes eat other snakes, altho the king snake is well known for doing it, and of all snakes, most people "like" them best because they eat other snakes...not knowing that many snakes do that. Me, I like them all.

I have had things disappear here...only to turn up later right where they belonged in plain sight. My husband laughed at me about it, until it happened to him.

I was admiring the attire of a fellow subway rider on my way home from work one night. As I glanced from the nice black pumps to the black and white houndstooth check skirt to the black wool sweater, I was taken aback when I got to the beard and mustache of the gentleman wearing the outfit.

DH said when he was a boy, they were exploring near the Dragoon Mountains. They came up on an adobe ruins with only two walls left that formed a corner. A hole about two feet deep was in the corner with an imprint of a box in the bottom. Two brand new shovels lay near the hole. Whatever was in that box was worth more than the two new shovels they left behind.

I was driving home from college and had to pass under a railroad trestle that diagnolled the street. As I was coming up to the bridge, an 18 wheeler lost a tire and rim, that rolled across 3 lanes of traffic, hit the concrete pillar of the trestle, bounced back across 4 lanes of traffic, across a parking lot and landed in the back of a pickup truck parked in front of a car repair shop. Everyone in all 4 lanes of traffic, slowed down and watched it all happen, no one was hit. The guys in the shop came out and just stared. I don't think the driver even knew he had lost his wheel.

Back in the late 70's when I-15 finally was finished and didn't go through Las Vegas, DH and I were heading for California. It was late afternoon and had been raining off and on. I looked over at the skyline of Vegas and there was a huge rainbow over the entire city. A Kodak moment and I didn't have a camers. Swear!!!

I live on a farm in the country, driveway is a mile long. We were working on the woodpile and kept hearing conversation coming from across the marsh a couple hundred yards away. Kinda forgot about it, but the next day the conversation persisted, so we took the 4 wheel drive up the road and crossed into the field that was beyond the marsh. Traveled the edge until we came across random shredded paper. There was a single letter on each piece. Upon further inspection we found a middle-aged lady, with penny loafers, dressed in paisley and carrying Luis Vuitton bag. Not sure WHO she was talking to...

In the late 70's I was on a commercial flight from Minneapolis to Dallas. Over Oklahoma we got into a thunderstorm. Lots of turbulence, heavy rain, lightning all around the plane. I was siting about a third of the way to the back. All at once people up front get very quiet and I hear a few gasps. Then I notice a glow towards the front and one of the flight attendents says, "Don't touch it." There was St. Elmos fire or ball lightning on the plane. It was a ball of static electricity about the size of a basketball and it was slowly rolling down the aisle. About 3 rows past me there was a snap and a flash and it was gone. The plane was very quiet for a long time.

I once saw a giant pitcher of Kool Aid walking down the street, handing out coupons for Kool Aid. My friend Lynn had a spooky experience. Went fishing with her husband. That night she noticed her engagement ring was missing. No, she didn't find it in a fish. Years later, after they were divorced and she was living in a different house, she felt sick while vacuuming and had to lie down. When she woke up, she found the ring sitting on the mantle above the fireplace.

once when visiting the statue of liberty, there was a man dressed just like the statue of liberty, all in green - his face and hands painted the same color green, he had the torch and the head piece and the "flowing" outfit. his entire outfit though was made of tampons!!!!!! one of the most "interesting" things i have ever seen.

TWINS!

In the local grocery store (small town of a couple thousand or so). Not ordinary twins. Two couples in their 40s or 50s. The two guys were dressed identically and the two women were dressed identically. I mean IDENTICALLY, right down to the sports bras that you could see sticking out of their camis. And we've seen them on two different occasions.

I'm positive they weren't dressed up for a costume party or anything. What twins dress identically after their 6th birthday? And do it all the time?

I saw a set of identically dressed male twins out to supper with their parents - parents were elderly and the twins were old enough to know better. Bizarro..

These couples were two sets of identical twins... yes, really bizarre.

When our kids were young we went camping a lot, especially at Yosemite.
One afternoon we were walking on a obscure trail and met up with a completely nude man strolling across the meadow.
My youngest said "You don't have any clothes on." The man smiled and said it was true and then turned and went into the woods.
A few days later we were in the laundromat, washing some clothes. A man came in and started stripping down and throwing his clothes into a washing machine. He stopped when he got to his underwear. He acted like we weren't even there. Strange.....
