Sitting and drinking a cup of tea watching my dog and kitten play..... Today I mixed some mint, verbena and oolong. Lately I have been drinking more black or oolong and less green.

Still a dyed in the wool coffee hound, but when I drink tea I prefer the fairly robust teas like Twinings Irish Breakfast.

One variety I have never been able to tolerate, though, is that smoked variety, Lapsang Souchoung. It's like licking an ashtray.

I hate coffee and am a tea drinker. Loose green teas are my favorite. Our local supermarket has big bins you can fill bags from. I usually receive gifts of a variety of teas from teavana.

I don't drink iced tea. Just don't like the flavor of it cold. I drink hot tea all year long and don't add anything to it.

I started drinking tea in my thirties. Before that I would drink diet coke early in the morning.

I switched from coffee to tea a couple of years ago. I do still share a cup of coffee, with my co-worker, mid-afternoon, but tea, good tea, is my drink now.

Hopefully that means the next time I order tea in the States I won't get iced tea!!!!

Seriously though I always ask for hot tea , having learned the hard way, and you would be surprised the number of times they don't serve it.

I drink coffee in the morning but love tea after dinner! Just regular orange pekoe tea thank you, with milk and sugar. I don't like flavoured teas.

chase, you are safer to bring tea bags with you. Most restaurants don't have good fresh tea to serve.

To anyone who says they don't like tea, I tell them you haven't had any good tea.

Tea for me, please, and an occasional cup of coffee. I've got a cup of Thompson's Punjana Irish Breakfast Tea in the cup sitting next to me. It's a strong, full-bodied, tea, similar to England's #1 tea - PG. Good by-the-potful.

I'm not brand or flavor loyal. I like to try everything from herb teas to black, green, orange, white, oolong...... Even the 100 bags for $1 Pampa Black Tea (actually, it's more like tea dust) from Wal-Mart has a place in my pantry along with those expensive white teas or tea with rose buds and rose petals. Friends and family often give me tea as a gift, some bringing it with them from trips abroad. :-)

I'm with arley about Lapsang Souchoung. It always reminds me of the smell of my cousins home after they had a flu fire. Homemade versions of "Russian Tea" made with Tang, and instant tea are also on my gag-me list.

I use tea for cooking and I sprout rice in green tea because the acid prevents "bad" bacteria growth. If you are looking for an unusual flavor to add to your creations, try adding some tea infusions - green tea or Chai ice cream, chamomile tea to a potato soup, marinades flavored with Earl Grey or Irish Breakfast. Grind teas in a suribachi and surikogi (a ceramic bowl with grooves and pestle) or coffee/spice mill, and use like you would herbs and spices. It may be your next "secret" ingredient in your meat rub.

Chai Chia "Pudding"

2 c. boiling water
2 Chai tea bags
3 T. chia seeds

Steep together for 15-minutes. Sweeten to taste (using sweetener of choice) and add a small amount of milk or nut milk. Refrigerate overnight.

I am an ardent coffee drinker, but I do not like it after dinner. If I have a hot beverage after dinner, it is herbal tea. I usually choose chamomile or peppermint. Sometimes I have some on a cold afternoon in winter, although I'd rather have a cup of (high calorie) cocoa.

Iced tea, yes but hot tea reminds me of childhood and being sick. I cannot choke it down.

pkramer sounds like you would be someone who I would say ....you had bad tea and you were sick! Any tea my mother had growing up was cheap lipton that probably was in the cupboards for years.

I'm another devoted coffee drinker, but I do like a good cup of tea now and then. And by "good" I don't particularly mean expensive. Oolong is a favorite and chamomile is a must when I'm feeling under the weather. My mom always gave us chamomile when we kids were sick. I really do enjoy both iced tea and hot tea, depending on the circumstances. Oh, and I always start all my seedlings for vegetables and flowers with diluted tepid chamomile tea and keep them on it until they're fairly well grown. Never have damping off.

I love teas-- tho plain "herbals" aren't my favorite-- most are to "flowery" tasting-- tho someone in the family insists of giving me a "tea chest" of 24 or 48 every Christmas.
I keep a Chai concentrate made with sweetened condensed milk in the frig-- love it in either green or black tea. I'm also crazy about shortbread cookies made with lea leaves .

The tea I drink everyday is usually Red Rose or Stash, I also like Irish & English Breakfast teas of various brands.

Coffee is a once every other day thing-- then it's decaf 8 o'clock.

I only like tea in Chinese restaurants, ha! I drink pots of decaf coffee all day long.

Long time tea drinker here and my all time favorite tea is Darjeeling. I use Twinings Darjeeling tea bags for the first cups in the morning and switch to loose tea usually in the evening. I get most of my loose teas from Upton Tea online. They have lots of different ones and you can get samples of ones you want to try. In the winter I make hot chocolate if not having tea in the evening. I drink coffee but not often. I did see the news about Starbucks Teavana opening but had no idea that tea drinking has become a $90 billion global market.

I'm an "equal opportunity" coffee and tea drinker - I like them both. Big fan of Upton's Teas, especially Scottish Breakfast and I love Twining's Lady Gray.

Ditto here-- if it's not good coffee, I'll opt for tea. I love Peet's blend of Earl Grey and Numi teas including their decaf vanilla. It's perfect in the evenings or late afternoon!
I'm also liking Numi's Earl Grey or their Purli Chocolate tea. It's a wonderful flavor. I like chai too, but it doesn't like me!

Same here. However, I may be the only one who likes both, tea and coffee, either hot or over ice.

If it's 7 A.M., the temperature is below 20 degrees, I'm waiting for an outdoor auction to start and the only hot beverage they have for sale is coffee, I'll have a cup of it - black. Otherwise, I drink tea, hot or iced.

My favorite of many decades is from a tea/coffee shop in our town. It's a full-bodied loose black tea called Russian Fancy, not to be confused with that smoky Russian Caravan. Another workhorse tea at our house is Twining's English Breakfast, which is great for making iced tea by the pitcher. For flavored teas, I like Black Currant and DH likes peach but we both enjoy Bigelow Constant Comment, which I think is a good value. Herbal tea is usually mint.

Growing up, we never had dessert right after dinner except on holidays but every night after we finished the dinner dishes and cleaned up the kitchen, we'd have a cup of tea and a treat like cookies or nut bread. I revived that custom and we look forward to it.

Most of you know that my best friend and I love to visit tea rooms and they have certainly enjoyed a revival throughout the eastern states in the last few years. I also have a lot of tea paraphernalia and entertain friends with tea parties. On Black Friday, I will be hosting a "Shop until you need teatime" open house like I did last year.

Like you I love to visit tea rooms. There used to be a lovely one quite near to me but it closed last year due to the owners health. I finally found one just over the state line in MD in a quaint town full of great shops and antique stores. My sister, Mother and niece took me there for my birthday last April. It was wonderful. We are hoping to go back during Christmas.

That is me sitting just behind the tiered savory selection. :)

I have one cup of coffee with breakfast then it's tea for me for the remainder of the day. I enjoy most varieties except for some florals like jasmine and lavender. I most always take it black, and depending on the weather I enjoy it either hot or iced. Love tea!

I don't drink coffee, but like hot tea with milk and sugar or other sweetner. I prefer the black teas and earl grey, but will venture out of that as well, but it is my fall back go to.

pkramer - I'm the opposite can't stand cold tea for the same reason as by the time I felt like I could drink the tea it was always cold. No Microwave in our house and I wasn't allowed to have milk in it.

I'm a drinker of strong dark coffee usually, but DD and I both love Bigelow's Vanilla Caramel Tea. Also Constant Comment and Earl Gray. Probably anathema to true tea connoisseurs, but we like them. DD also likes Irish Breakfast.

I like both, and I don't add sweetener to either. I used to add a bit of artificial sweetener to coffee, then started roasting my own green beans and found that the coffee tastes so good I don't want anything in it.

My favorite tea of all time was a Ceylon that I got from the bulk food container at the Mediterranean market, but my usual tea is Twinings Irish Breakfast. I don't care for green tea or the herbal stuff very much, but I'll drink peppermint tea occasionally, mostly when I have a cold or am feeling otherwise under the weather.

I like tea both hot and iced, but no lemon or flavoring or cream, just black. I like coffee black usually, but I'll admit to a liking for an occasional Caramel Mocha which I like better hot but I'll drink it iced.

Taste is subjective, though, not objective, so some people just won't like one or the other. Just because I like it doesn't mean everyone else will and that's fine too.

Arley, I agree on the Lapsang, don't like the stuff at all, but I'm sure there are people who do. Kind of sure, anyway, because they must sell the stuff to SOMEONE...

I occasionally like a nice mug of hot chocolate too, but I don't like smoothies at all, go figure.
