I think you are doing a superb job. I like the chandelier (both of them). You just keep doing what you are doing and when it is all finished, you will see how nice it is going to look.

I fear that I may have gone wallpaper crazy - I shut my eyes and dream up new applications for wallpaper (hahahaha!). Today, I finished the stripes (not wallpaper!) on the livingroom wall - will post photos soon!

I never would have thought to put wallpaper just in the nook - what a neat look! Clever.

Unfortunately, I think that I should now rename this thread, the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Sigh.

My livingroom wall stripes turned out well (don't worry, the stove has now been moved to the kitchen):

And, I had a go at wallpapering the inside of my second floor laundry 'closet' (pics to follow once the darn dryer is no longer straddling the lip of the metal pan - issues with hooking it up).

But, in the baby's room (well, no longer a baby - Vivian has just turned one), I chose two beautiful colours for horizontal stripes, with the tape to create a third colour for a stripe - the beige already on the wall, thanks to the builder. Two things went wrong. The tape riped off bits of the beige and in some places, the primer and the drywall paper too! And I don't have this colour to do touch ups. The second problem - I don't like the beige. Will post photos (once I take them. I was too tired and disappointed tonight).

Yayee! I picked up some metalic paint and had a go at the weird beige stripes in Vivian's room. Here's the result (kinda looks like duct tape.....but hey, it is still an improvement....not sure why they look wavy on the screen...shimmering??? ha!):

I love the wall paper in the nook. Very interesting pattern with neutral colors - keeps it classy.
We've had that problem of the tape ripping off the drywall paper. Had to stick with painters tape, which doesn't seem to grip well enough for stripes that don'r leak under the tape.

But your solution looks great. The metalic paint really sets off the stripes. Maybe you can buy some wooden stars at Michaels and paint with the metalic paint - hang them on the walls or from the ceiling. The silver paper stars that are lights would fit, too.

I think you are very creative and have a nice sense of style.

I LOVE the wallpaper in the nook! I say this as a major wallpaper fan. Good, classic wallpaper will NEVER go out of style.

And the metallic stripes in your daughter's room really do a LOT for the space! I love that soft color palette.

Any tips on misbehaving wallpaper? One brand of prepasted wallpaper doesn't seem interested in adhering to the wall - gently rolls down/up, about a half hour after being applied. I've gone back with some wallpaper paste, but more often than not, despite being careful, end up with paste dried to the front of the paper. Grrrrr....

Did you use wallpaper sizing on the walls before hanging? Usually a clean primed and painted wall is sufficient, but I like to use sizing as it making maneuvering the wet paper easier and gives it more staying power when dry. Also, you can buy lightweight paste to use with prepasted paper if necessary. I haven't had to do that before, but if you're going to be applying more of the misbehaving paper, you might try that.

Wallpaper sizing? Never heard of it - need to get my hands on it!! Thanks! (Beats my plan B - stapling the darn stuff to the wall - ahahaha!)
