Saw this headboard today

I was glancing through the current issue of Southern Living magazine and Dillard's had an ad for bedding and the headboard is something like I've never seen and wanted to run it by y'all to see if you have.

Imagine a giant picture frame behind the bed from the floor to about 7 ft. tall and extending just around the width. Imagine this as a beautiful gold frame with a picture light attached to the top just as you would a large, beautiful print. The inside had tufted material rather than the glass and photo that would go in a traditional picture frame. I just couldn't get over how pretty it looked and what a great idea it gave me to try!! I wish I could post it, but my scanner is broken.

Does any know of a way to acquire this ad from Dillard's? I would love everyone to see it.

That puts me in mind of one I saw on Divine Design...it looked like tufting inside a huge frame. Can't dig it up now but maybe later--it was on a show episode.

The only quibble I would have with the one you describe is if it's for a master, you'd probably want two lights, just for ease of one person sleeping while the other reads, etc...

fly, the light wasn't really for reading it was just to mimick the light on a real picture frame.

meg711 -- you are my lucky charm. Today I was going to go to the design center to finalize yardage and, on a whim, stopped by the Calico Corners (I'd received a postcard from them saying "Big Sale"). meg711 -- they had an even better buffalo check than Kathryn Ireland's, and for a literal fraction of the cost. I'd chosen the Kathryn Ireland for two reasons: 1) I had searched and searched for a super-large scale red / cream buffalo check and hers was the only one I'd found; and 2) I wanted the colors of the buffalo check / toile to match, and seeing as those were both made by her I assumed I'd have a home run (in terms of color match)! But I was never in love with the ikat (bleeding edge) feel of the check -- that hadn't been my goal, and truthfully, I resented the cost (of the raw yardage). I was after a finished room so I acquiesced .... Anyway, to make a short story super-long (!), the price I am paying for the headboard, bedskirt and drapery panels (fabric and construction) through Calico Corners is less than what I would have paid for the Kathryn Ireland fabric alone for the bedskirt / headboard (not even including the drapery panels). You know, it would have been one thing if I'd been in love with the Kathryn Ireland ikat check or her toile, but I wasn't. Then I would have happily paid $X for using her textiles. I had a vision and they filled it well enough, so that's why I was planning on using them. Instead, I am going to be really happy about getting to spend a fraction of the cost yet still achieve my vision, and then get to do more, sooner, in my room. And I really feel I owe it to you, meg711. This post you started totally prompted me to "do it!" And if I hadn't had this "chat" with you it all wouldn't have been front and center for me. If I hadn't been in the textile frame of mind, who knows if I would've popped into Calico Corners. Really, thank you so much!

Hey, thanks again for the input! Oh, and before I forget -- Deborahnj, little Tristan is doing beautifully! He's growing and thriving and is a cute little butterbean of a baby. Thank you for asking! :-) I know it sounds unbelievable that we could get a king mattress up the stairs, but not a headboard. Well, that's because a mattress bends! Not so with a headboard! And no, the little niche that you see just to the right of the bed is not a full size that you could fit a bed within. It's just a little bump-in that houses a small closet: I've actually looked on Craig's List for a pair of twin headboards that we could make work, but haven't found anything yet. I'll keep searching, though -- eventually something is bound to pop up! Thanks again for the wonderfully creative ideas! You've all given me a few more options to chew on. :-)

I wasn't planning to mount it to anything, actually. Just stand it up against the wall, and put the head of the bed in front of it. I guess I should have taken measurements of it in the store when I saw it, but I can always return it if it doesn't work out. We have cats, so I'm hesitant to use any kind of fabric headboard, although I've thought of that. I just imagine it being covered in cat hair and/or becoming a really cool scratching post. I had an epiphany after reading something Magnaverde wrote. I had just redone the major pieces in our bedroom, and I just wasn't loving it, but that post made me see what was going wrong. And the current paintings turned out to be way more girly than I was planning.

I like the first one because of its graceful lines. The second one seems over powering and the third a little unusual looking. We have a tufted one and haven't had a problem with staining but we don't use much on our hair and I've never noticed that our heads go up that far anyway. We do have a cat but after one try of scratching we firmly told her no and she hasn't done it since. I would look around on the internet a bit more before making a decision; there are so many sources our there. We got the one we wanted rather inexpensively and it's the perfect style, color and size for us. Please ignore the ugly chest and funky ivy over the window. This was in 2009, the chest and ivy are gone and we've added pale gold floor length curtains that are on the French door over the bed to control the light.

Brutuses, I browsed online a bit in their bedding dept but didn't see anything like that. If you know of an ad online or something we can post it in. I don't believe I have the current SL issue to scan it in.

I guess what I'm saying is, lol -- what was the ad for? Didn't see anything in the bedding area. Maybe they have other types of ads on the net, other than their store catalogue.

Squirrel, the ad is for the new Chez Nicole bedding from Reba-Harmony. I'm just reading from the bottom of the page it is on. The ad was to advertise this bedding. When I have time I'll contact Dillard's and see if there is anyway to find this ad on-line. It's a 4 page spread about bedding and they are all quite beautiful. Too beautiful for my cat's claws. HA!

If you find yourself in a grocery line or something, check out the ads they start in the 10th. page of the March issue.

If you have the ad in hand, it can be scanned in. If you don't have a scanner, perhaps a friend or neighbor does?

I called Dillards and they said that item will be added online in the next week or two. Maybe we'll be able to see the photo online.

I also sent an e-mail to Reba.com (that's the C&W singer) the company who makes the bedding and asked if they had this particular photo that I could view.

I'd really like y'all to see it, not only for the frame headboard design, but for the beautiful bedding set also.
