how do I wash peppers off my hands?
Comments (131)I've tried many things over the years. Gloves(whether latex or nitrile offer "some" protection, but when you're processing superhots for hours, the capsaicin IS going to penetrate). I've tried butter, milk, oils, vinegar, soap...all with very limited cooling. But last year, I tried something different. I used to just deal with the limited "cooling," but the heat really wouldn't subside until overnight. I still don the nitrile gloves, but now I actually wash my hands with just plain white vinegar. BUT... I don't rinse or dry it off. Instant relief, but there's still "some" warmth. So, I'll do it again about 15 mins later. All pain/heat pretty much dissipates within an hour. My theory is that the capsaicin is not only on the surface of your skin, but has started to penetrate deeper layers. So, wash your hands with all the soap or oil you want...if you rinse it off, you haven't given it time to penetrate those other deeper layers. Kevin...See Morepaint comes off when it's wiped down
Comments (8)Hi Fishers, It's a "Laura-Ashley color" you say... * What did the painter have it matched into?? * Did you see a can they used? * Were you given a CHOICE of brand?? * What ACTUAL paint-brand/base/series was it mixed into? * Do you know the actual prep-history??? Meaning... * Were the walls washed? * What sheen of paint was on the walls b4 this color? * Was it primed after any of this prep?? Bottom-line...with a decent Satin paint, this shouldn't happen at all! NORMALLY...a paint is fully cured in a month for light washing. (I have a hunch they had it matched into a "contractor-grade" paint....) Faron...See MorePaper towels or blow dry hands?
Comments (28)Posted by jennmonkey: What I refuse to touch are those old fashioned ones where the same piece of material just keeps coming back around, having dried by the time it's back to the front. You don't really believe that do you? Or were you just kidding? Sometimes I can't tell when people are just joking around. The machines have a CLEAN roll inserted that is many feet long. As the towel is used it is wound on an empty spindle. When the clean one runs out it is replaced with another clean roll. The dirty roll is removed and and empty spindle is put in its place to which the end of the clean tool is attached. I prefer those cloth hand towels. They don't wind up all over the floor and sinks like paper ones do. People have been known to throw the paper hand towels in the toilet thus clogging them. The air blowers blow germs all over the room and you have to stand there forever waiting to get the hands dry while people wait behind you to use them....See MoreTalk me off my ledge...terrified about my paint choices!
Comments (33)So I am starting to feel better about the room. I was describing it to a co-worker/designer who said it seemed very Ralph Lauren and I realized, duh, that was kind of my inspiration. Some of his dark, masculine rooms. Going with that, he suggested a dark chandelier with black shades lined in gold. Ends up, one is being discontinued so I can get it for a steal! I am not sure if I think the black shades will be too much or if I should stick with natural linen shades, but I can try both options as the shades are sold separately. It slightly smaller than I would have preferred, but it even matches all the sconces I put in my living room and foyer! At night, the room feels so beautiful and as a dining room, that was my goal. I am thinking perhaps we will do a high window seat on each side of the radiator (no cushion, just some toss pillows) that can also serve as a buffet when we entertain, with typical RL-inspired fabrics, and I will add some gold framed mirrors and art to the room....See Moredecorativewalls
