I have one of the 81mg St Johns Aspirin products listed...but am not going to dump it. Mine has no musty/moldy odor and I'm sure the product is all right. I've been taking the Aspirin twice a day for well over a month...with no side effects. From all that I've read...the recall is "cautious" with the manufacturers acknowledging that not all products have been affected. The odor has transfered from treated wooden pallets that the product boxes were stacked on to the paper product containers and in some instances...may have transfered to the actual product. MrMichaelJMoore, I have some pictures showing F&P disassembly, but I don't think you need them. It's very simple. 1. Unplug the machine. Shut off the faucets and remove the water supply hoses from the machine. Remove the lid. Carefully pry out the two lid bumpers and remove the screws beneath. 2. Pull the tub toward the left-front (so the OOB lever that protrudes down from the console at the right-rear can clear the tub), and raise the top. Helps to have an assistant to hold the top up. 3. Unclip the bias spring from the left-front suspension strut, leave it attached to the tub ring. Unsnap the tub ring all the way 'round and remove it. 4. Take off the softener dispenser, reach inside the agitator and unscrew the wingnut, remove the agitator. 5. The inner basket should now simply lift out of the tub. If it's ornery, remove the three screws and take off the drive hub and coupler. The perfs on outside of the basket are sharp, so handle it carefully. 6. Clean up the basket and inner tub as necessary. 7. Reassemble. Don't forget to pull the tub again to clear the OOB when lowering the top. Don't forget to reattach the bias spring. Don't overtighten the agitator nut. Don't tighten the supply hoses any more than needed to not leak, the valve body is plastic, don't want it to crack. If you want to run the pump with the basket out to drain the scrub-water ... lower the top and replug the machine. With the power off, press and hold Wash Temp Down, then press Power at the same time to get into Diagnostic mode. The Regular cycle button then toggles the pump on/off. Press Power to exit diagnostics. You can also run the pump by simply advancing the cycle to Spin, but the drive motor will keep pulsing forward and back to test for the basket's inertia and may throw a fault code. That's no big deal, just kill the power and spin again as needed to get the water out. To help prevent smutz build-up in the future, go light on softener, don't underdose detergent to insure soil and oils are dissolved and flushed away, avoid washing in only cold water. Also, you can run a cleaning cycle occasionally with an enzyme dishwasher detergent if you think that'd be helpful.

No one needs to have these mold and mildew problems along with health issues that go with it. They should take responsibility for their products. I have experienced the same problem, I had my machines about 3 ½- 4 years now. A few months back, everything smelled.. I was going crazy, washing, re washing I did the bleach and vinegar rinses .. I found it was a temporary fix. I was going crazy as I am a very meticulous person also, especially when it comes to the health of my family which includes two young children who happens to be allergic to mold and mildew. I wasnÂt smart enough to call and complain.. Then I started reading about residues left behind from detergents.. thatÂs actually when I started bleach and vinegar rinses trying to remove it. Long storyÂI decided to go natural in my laundry as I do with cleaning. .I bought a product called Laundry Pure. (It is a machine that hooks up to your washer, eliminates detergent, softener and bleach, puts sanitized water in you machine to wash the clothes chemical free) The rep told me to run the machine (Duet) empty about 3xÂs before I put a load inÂSo the first time I ran it, a dark blue liquid was going through the Laundry Pure machine. .I had no idea what it was or if it was normal. .so I called to ask.. I talked to tech support and the first thing he asked was if I used Tide.. and I did (HE) ..he then told me that was all the detergent residue coming out of the machine, to now run it empty about 5xÂs to get it all out.. I was sick! The Laundry Pure didnÂt work out after 6 weeks of use (long story) so I sent it back.. ever since , I have been using a true all natural laundry soap and never had the sour smell again. I think the Duet holds detergents and doesnÂt get out of the machine.. thatÂs why they build up and I guess I am on the right tract since they are recommending AFFRESH to clean it all out. ItÂs been months since I used regular detergent and I have to say what a huge difference it has made, not only in the machine, but in the clothes we wear.. Just as the chemicals build up in the machine. .it also does that to our clothes. .not healthy! For your own piece of mind, switch to a all natural detergent, once all the chemicals are out of your clothes and machine, I am sure you will not experience any more moldy smelling clothes I hope this was some help, I wanted to share this with you because it really worked for me. UV lights don't work. The volume of air passing through is too great. I suggest adding a GPS system to the unit, Global Plasma Solutions. We've done this to three of our homes HVAC systems. It takes care of any musty, moldy odors and mold in your house. Also, check the humidity in your house. You may need a dehumidifier. If humidity is too high, mold can grow. It should be below 40%. Here is another theory that needs to be eliminated. If the smell is a dirty sock smell, it can be an oil leak burning off. Is there any component of the system that uses oil or hydraulic fluid? Both smell like dirty socks and the fumes are quite dangerous to your health.
