weekly rolling wipe-off calendar
Comments (3)A friend of mine had one like the Boone one--for those who don't know, it's a wipe-off calendar that was four pieces, each of them for one week. So you could see a month at a time. You'd erase the old week, slide them all up, and put the blank week down at the bottom. It looked really cool! She got hers at the student bookstore in State College, PA (where she lives). I don't know the brand. You could make your own, maybe, using this dry-erase sheet material? Nah, too expensive. Here's a similar one from Office Depot--the trademark is "Quartet" You might buy two sets; then you'd have 8 weeks! Here is a link that might be useful: info on the Boone rolling calendar...See MorePaint coming off indoor window sills when things placed on top
Comments (12)I know that this is old, but a couple of addenda for those running across this in a Google search: you can actually coat over glossy paint with flat, but you first have to sand the glossy paint until it's dull (thus creating a porous surface that the new coat of paint can stick to), or use a primer that will stick to glossy paint. The primer rickyk22 is referencing is probably Bullseye 1-2-3, which does indeed do a good job of sticking to gloss (I've tested this up to semigloss). Latex paint will hold up on a windowsill, but a high quality paint is recommended for anything that's going to take regular wear - aside from the issue of pulling paint off, you may notice lower quality paints flaking or cracking due to humidity, UV, and temperature changes from the window. Glossy finishes will be more resilient to this than flatter ones....See MoreDid your fabricator wipe down your counters?
Comments (5)My fabricators (Carrara) did not wipe down the counters to a pristine state before they left. Everything was cut prior to arrival, except for drilling the faucet holes. Even then, they used a shop vac right at the drill to suck up as much dust as possible. I should note that our house was still a construction zone at that point with carpenters in and out all day and no working plumbing. Maybe that made a difference? When they left, the marble seemed clean enough to me. The areas I fondled and petted weren't dusty. ;-)...See MoreExisting paint wipes off easily --- can I paint over it?
Comments (14)If in doubt, make a couple square foot test spot before committing to the whole wall. I doubt you will have problems. I would give a little additional dry time for the primer, rather than the short hour or so that the primer can will state. It will suck up quite a bit of primer. In terms of adhesion, Gripper is the best water based primer I have tested of all those I sell. The goal is top wet through and solidify that porous, chalky paint and bond to the solid paint below it. Gripper is also sold under the Glidden label at Home Depot. It is part of the growing PPG family of paints. World wide, PPG ( Pittsburgh Paint and Glass ) dwarfs Sherwin Williams....See Morefishers2008
