I'm so busted! No, I didn't. I was waiting until I had my barstools picked out and in place. We moved in back in August after a complete disaster with our builder we had a million things to finish on our own. We hosted Thanksgiving so the dining room was my primary focus the last couple of months. Barstools are next on the list and I promise to do my reveal once I have them! Boy oh boy can I relate to this post! I got so frustrated trying to get help with a simple problem I was having with my Mac. I went through two tech people before I asked to speak to someone who speaks English. One of them was rude and informed me "Sir, I do speak English" and refused to transfer me. Second tech guy immediately transferred me. I'm not a rude person and was polite the entire time and being treated that way really raised my BP. Bingo, the moment I got the English speak person (in TN) it took only a couple of seconds to solve the problem. I reported the incident and how rude the first tech guy treated me. He took my report and told me that whenever a tech is asked to speak to someone who speaks English, they are suppose to immediately transfer you to a stateside representative. I've learned that most of these "tech" people in other countries are usually reading from a script and if you have a problem that's not listed they'll have a devil of time trying to understand what you are talking about.

For my job I need to take payment from customers (many of these are small businesses). It seems no one in Saskatchewan has a credit card! We have issues all the time because our customers (99.9999 % Canadians) don't have a credit card to make their purchase. They want us to bill them or mostly they want to go into a local office to pay cash. Most of the local offices of the company no longer accept cash payments which really annoys the customers. The lack of credit cards has been really surprising to my colleagues and I. I think checks are popular here (WNY) as many small businesses here don't like to take credit cards due to the high fees. Speaking to Canadians every day from Vancouver to Montreal I thought I could understand the accents. Went to see a band from Vancouver and talked to a band member during a break. Oh my gosh I could barely understand him. Actually much of it I just nodded my head to, no clue what he was saying. Just like the US, Canada is a very diverse population over many different regions. While communication is sometimes hard, overall it makes life more interesting. Recently was told of a "come and go tea" by a person in Windsor, had no idea what she was talking about. It was like a birthday party. Not sure if actual tea was served.

I hope others continue to chime in as they check in with the forum in between scheduled summer activities and in spite of current technological difficulties. Titian, thank you for the information about Florence's last posting. I may have missed it since it was located on a thread which began with another topic. I wish there were some way to reach her just to say how much it meant to share the exchanges that we did. We even shared family history and photos and artwork. Mary, I have no idea if Houzz ambushed the Furniture Forum with my post after the fact or whether I neglected to deselect the FF as a suggested cross posting site. I THOUGHT I deselected everything but Antique Roses. Since we will never know, and I prefer to maintain the fantasy that I can manage my own affairs, I'm going to cry "Houzz ambush" in order to save face. :-) Carol
