I'm having a hard time seeing the colors of your existing cabs well on my monitor(it's dark). I'm assuming they're the same as the door leaning on your model island, but it's hard to picture the whole room. I think you could go either way on island color, depending on the other tones in the room. Are the other light tones in the kitchen creamier/warmer or cooler, to the gray or white side? That would influence my decision.Since it's open to your entry, which color would look better against the decor there?I love your big, open space. If you use your sunroom a lot and there's no other entrance to it, I would leave the opening to the sunroom alone. Unless noise is an issue- in that case, french doors would look very nice also.Not much help, am I?

How long in the future would you be replacing kitchen cabinets? A few years or in a long,long time? What color appliances are you getting? If you get white appliances then I would do the island in an off white. If getting black or stainless, I might do a creamy white with a cocoa wash over it. What are your present countertops? I would pick a granite that complements your present cabinets, countertop, and floor and that also does with the off-white or cream colored island. Go to a granite yard with one of your cabinet doors and a piece of your flooring if you have one.

First I'll address the french doors. I think french doors and nice wood trim to dress it out, would make that opening look a lot better and add tons of value to your house.

About the cabinets. I like the look of islands and main cabinets being different in color and even in style sometime. My cabinets are a creamy white and the island is a dark wood. The granite is gallo ornamental which is pretty easy granite to match to most anything, but isn't too dark or too light. Here is a photo of my kitchen (forgive the unfinished upper cabinets). One day before I die Armstrong will get the correct size doors made!! LOL

I believe you also asked about molding color. Our molding is the same color as the cabinets (paint provided by Armstrong) and our wood trim on ceiling, around doors, etc. is pure white.

Sew, I say "yes" to putting in french doors--I think it will really dress up your space and you will love their function.

I would also paint my perimeter cabinets the same color of your trim. If you tried to go creamier, the white dove might make the creamy look "yellow" or dirty.

If you chose to go with a black island, then I would probably chose a granite that had flecks of black in it.

I have cream cabinets for my perimeter, and a black island. My perimeter granite is Tropic Brown, and my island granite is Absolute Black.

I tore down the temp island and told hubby we should just buy a counter height table that seats 6-8. I liked this table by Intercom that was 46" square ,converts to a 66" round. I really don't think I'll be happy with that bulky island in black nor white. I got a price for 3 black distressed cabinets and it was close to 2500.00, add a beverage center, granite top and 6 stools, a lot more money and I doubt I'll be in love with it!! Maybe I should save that idea for the future, when and if we reface or replace cabinets. Regarding the french doors, to my surprise hubby does not plan to trim out the opening, he plans to insert the doors and jams in the bullnose opening. I'm not sure how doors will look without the white trim.

I'm glad you made a decision on the island and french doors. I'm curious as to how he's going to install them also, so please post photo's, will you please.

Would you mind to show the table that you purchased? I haven't heard of that scenario.
