I use a wine bottle that once held eiswein with a pourer inserted. The bottle washes easily and the pourer washes pretty well but can easily and cheaply be replaced when it gets gunky. I see no point to dispensing a nice fresh fruity EVOO from any container with a bit of rancid residue.
Besides the bottle is blue and looks very nice on my blue tile counter!...:-)

I use the same as Linda, but without the pretty blue bottle. Just a wine bottle. Darned, now I'll have to go shop for a wine with a pretty bottle!

My olive oil comes in wine bottles because the oil is made by wine growers. I just keep it in the pantry for storage and the dispenser on it works just fine.

Well, I have a very special handpainted bottle for my olive oil, Doucanoe made it for one of the get togethers. It has a pouring spout and I love it!

I do have a kind of cool margarita bottle. Maybe I will put my spout in there. I am far too vain in my kitchen but that white bottle (all smudged up) sitting out against my beiges and browns drives me nuts.

My best tip is to keep all your oil bottles together in a round cake pan to keep the cupboard shelf or countertop from getting messy.

Jimster... that cake pan tip is great! No matter how careful you are, you'll eventually end up with oil on shelf or countertop.

I'm not tied to any one brand of olive oil. Whenever I'm in a place like Home Goods or Ross, I visit the gourmet food and cooking section every time. Often find good buys on imported oils that frequently come in interesting bottles. If oil comes in a bottle with a screw-top and pourer gizmo inside, I just go with that. If it comes in a bottle with a cork, I just use one of those plastic pourers that push in the top of the bottle.

If the bottle is especially interesting, I might clean it out and save. Since bottle can be nearly impossible to clean out easily, I use a heavy duty degreaser. A friend told me about... ???... cannot remember name, but comes in a purple jug and can be found at W-mart. Was recommended for cleaning paint brushes that were NOT cleaned up well the first time around. I didn't read directions on how to dilute and used full strenght as a soak for so craft brushes. Stuff was so strong, it ate thru the metal piece that holds bristles!?! But works great on glass bottles.

I have all my canola and olive oil bottles in a blue plastic woven basket from Target. In the pantry, this basket slides out easily so I can get a bottle out. Just figured that when the basket get icky and I can't get it clean, I'll get another one. It keeps the bottles standing and keeps the mess down.

I use my little stainless oil can every day because the hole in the spout is so small it will make fine drizzles of olive oil on bread (instead of butter) or on a pan for cooking.

It holds half a liter but I recently bought a new one in a larger size. I keep it on a small saucer by the stove, sitting on a folded paper napkin.

These are sold in supermarkets and are not expensive.
