First time posting Did I made a mistake by buying a Cookware set
Comments (15)THANK YOU Very much for posting all your opinions. I guess I'll be keeping the set. BUT I'll be adding some other pieces to it from other brands/Materials. While REALLY cleaning my kitchen over the weekend I found some pieces of cookware that I had NO CLUE I had. I think my mom brought them over last time she came over to visit. All stainless steel (I think). the pieces are a big frying pan and a small one and then there are this other pieces taht I don't really know what they are called but it looks like is meant for you to cook different things on top of each other????? I a going to have to call my Mom and ask her. I couldn't tell the brand it has a big L on the handle. The handles are plastic. As for the Scanpan set I might come over later and write a review on it. So far I like it I amde omelletes the other day and it was rally non-stcik and so easy to clean. However I made spagettis last night and the stock pot took a little long to boil the water. Mind you I think I added way to much water LOL The place I ordered the set from gave me a pasta insert and I wasn't quit sure when stop adding water so once I put the spagetti in water started to come out LOL Was the first time I used an insert so now I know better. I hope next time it boils a little faster. I also read (AFTER i got the set) something about pots with the shinny bottom are not good to use in a flat stove???? Maybe taht's why my stock pot didn't boil the water fast enough??? Anyway THANK YOU a lot for taking your time and helping me out. Now I want a couple of the LC pieces :o) Cathy...See MoreThe Care and Keeping of Glass Pot and Pan Lids:What Can I Expect?
Comments (8)My wife bought a Calphalon set few years ago. She loves them. A few days ago, I fumbled the lid and it dropped to the tile floor. The glass survived, but it separated from the stainless steel rim. If you look at it, you'll see that the rim encircles and encloses the glass portion, so that the glass cannot pop out of the steel rim -- unless you drop it on a tile floor, apparently. It was also apparent that no amount of forcing was going to squeeze the glass back into the rim. But if you know the secret, it's an easy fix, with no forcing required: 1) Put the glass in the freezer for a few hours. 2) Heat the rim. I just waved it over a gas stovetop burner for about 30 seconds. 3) Now, quickly, lay the rim on a hard surface, and drop the frigid glass into it. With the rim expanded, and the glass contracted, they fit together easily. The cold glass will cool the rim almost instantaneously, and they're wedded together once again. Apparently this is not a common problem -- I found no references to it via a Google search -- and replacement lids are available, but this is a good trick to know. I suspect this will work for all such lids, but have only tested it on our Calphalon....See MoreWhat is the best way to store pots, pans and lids
Comments (28)laughable - I'm not Chicago Bob, but we had considered something like that at one point when it looked like I might not be able to have my 3rd (top) drawer under my induction cooktop at a usable height...we would have had the front represent as the two drawers, but part of the front would have been covering an area of the cooktop clearance, then the drawer in a drawer would have been just below that...putting the drawer within a drawer would have yielded me the storage area that I needed, even if it was a bit less convenient. If you have a choice though, I would be less likely to do the drawer in a drawer. As it is, my top drawer front for my cooktop cabinet is 6" high (lining up with the rest of the top drawers in the kitchen) and will have a drawer depth of about 2 1/2"...enough for me to put flatter utensils (or some people would put lids) in that area....See MoreAn alternative for pot and pans storage
Comments (6)thanks for this post! I did not even know something like this was available. Great idea for storage and I am looking for (after market) storage for my new cabinets. Our cabinets did not have a many fancy storage choices, but I figured I could find some storage options...and I love this! Can you tell me what size this cabinet is? looks as if is at least a 24". We will have a 24" just to the right of the new range and this would be perfect if it fits! Do they make several sizes? As far as noise, I know I make noise digging/looking for the right pan in a regular cabinet! ...so not a bother,,,your going to make noise in the kitchen one way or another. I will check on ebay!! thanks for the post!!...See Morebspofford
