Wow, what a beautiful room! I'm a longtime lurker and I very rarely post but I just wanted to say that I think you have done a wonderful job with your bedroom! I LOVE the wall color AND the red chaise looks magnificent in there!! I think the table you have chosen would look really great on the right side of your bed, though I think I might be tempted to use it in black to balance all the black frames on the left. I think if I did that, I might find one a little different, maybe square, to go on the left side, but that is just my opinion. I don't think you could go wrong either way. It is a very pretty table and your room is beautiful! Would you mind sharing what color you used on your wall?

It's the right size. The round top is what is needed to soften things, yet it is not overly formal. It carries that nautical feel you are looking for.

Just get one. Two would be two matchy-matchy for such a unique piece.

I hate being the naysayer here, but as a white table I don't it works. The size and shape are good but the white paint with the oak is not working for me.
You have a lot of different main colors in the room: oak, red, and silver (secondary color) and nothing that pulls all these colors together and says this all goes together and belongs here.
If this were my room, I would add a patterned duvet/bedspread/quilt-whatever- that has all the colors in the room in order to make everything look like it was carefully chosen for the room.
I would also add a patterned pillow on the red chair with the similar colors for the same reasons.
Just my 2 cents!

I'd add a few more touches of black through out the room to tie it all in. How about a textured black throw for your chaise and maybe a little pillow with black in it for your bed?

I really like the clean crisp look of your bedroom. I would probably go with the white table...but I kind of agree with the other poster who said a pretty duvet cover could pull the colors of the room together...

btw..where did you get the window shades at?

I think that table, in black, would be perfect for the right-hand side of your bed. Perhaps you could incorporate a punch of red with an item you set on top of the table?

Another idea is to do an inexpensive round table with a fabric covering which has all of your colors in order to tie your room together.

A chest would look "like it belongs" under the b/w picture wall. That window sill appears too low to me for a bed-side table.

This poster is looking for a fresh beachy look, right? So I think she is really getting there. The pictured table would work nicely. Just add a beachy item to the table. Maybe a cream / white throw to red chaise to lesson the red would help.

I would say black - it will pick up the color on your black frames vignette.

On this black table, you can place a lamp w/ white base, (ceramic/porcelain) or with glass lamps filled w/ shells. Maybe put some white starfish on the table.

I'd use the white table and get a nice beachy lamp like Threegrad suggested. The most interesting rooms use more than one color and type of wood.

whistles - I love these shades! They came from Bed Bath and Beyond. They are a roman shade that you hang from a rod. They only come in standard sizes though (30 and 40 inches wide). I believe that JC Penney has a similar product as well.

Threedgrad - yes, I am going for a fresh, casual, cottage type of look. I am pleased with the direction that things are going.

While I think the black would look great, I am leaning towards white, I plan to put a B/W picture frame on the table, and I love the idea of a "beachy" type of lamp. I'll look for something that has some red and maybe black in it.

I'll post some pics once I get the table in place and decorated!

I would not put the white table in front of the white window with the white shade. Too much white in one spot.

I would not put a floor lamp in front of the window either.

I suggested before to put a camelback trunk under the window, something low that would not block the window. If you need something to set things on next to the bed a flat topped one would also be OK but the room does need some curvey-ness near the big square bed. A painted trunk would bring in more color. I love those glass shell lamps bellaflora posted. They are elegant yet beachy. Great for the room.

Dilly Dally - I actually don't need a table or a lamp on the left side of my bed. I was just thinking that I HAD to have something there to balance. Do I? Can I add a table to the right of the bed and leave my left side empty as it is now? That would be my preference. I just always see a bed flanked by 2 tables, and they are almost always matching tables.
Yes, I agree that a white table next to my white bed and white windows, with a white lampshade would be too much white. Maybe I should go with the table in black? Why is it so hard for me to make a decision about this stuff, I am so frustrated, I am having a hard time sleeping at night! LOL!!

The room is coming along great! The one problem that keeps jumping out at me is the mirror above the dresser. The silver frame just doesn't work IMO. I'd like to see a white or black one instead.

kdArlene - this is the 2nd mirror that I have bought for this space. The first one was a very dark brown to black (looked black), and no one liked it, so I got this one. I'm done buying mirrors for this room! LOL!

I promise I won't mention it again, but I think something like this mirror would help tie in both sides of the room. I think the bed side of your room is too white heavy.

We had thought of painting the original dark mirror, but it is a plastic frame and dh said that it wouldn't take paint very well. We have now found another home for it where it looks great!

ttodd - I don't really have another place to put the chaise where it would get any use. I'm not opposed to covering it sometime in the future, but really it doesn't bother me as much as it bothers everyone here! LOL!!!

kdArlene - I like the mirror that you posted. I may not replace this mirror for now, but I do see your point about the whiteness on the bedside of the room. I think I need some more whiteness on the dresser/chaise side. I'll replace the floor lamp as it was cheap. I'll also move my glass candlesticks into my master bath and replace them with white.

I'm still torn on black vs white table! You guys seem to be 50/50 as well! LOL!! I'm buying it by Friday so WE need to make up OUR minds!! LOL!!

I have been enjoying this post--usually just lurk in this forum and hesitate to give suggestions. I wondered what you decided about the table. FWIW, I think the white would tie in the best, and only on the right side. I don't think I would like it in the window. And just a teeny-tiny recommendation since details kill me! I would repaint your vents on the bathroom wall in the same green as your wall, rather than the white. They would all but disappear then--you really don't want to draw attention to them. I have decided that the table will be white! I'm going to order it later today. It has free shipping so that is nice. I'm going to add some B/W frames to the dresser and the new table. I'm looking at lamps now. I found a gorgeous red coral lamp, but it is a little pricey, so I am still looking. I will post update pics as soon as I add these new items. Yes, those vents are a little glaring aren't they? I'll have dh get the paint out and fix that!

Hi Elaine,
those lamps are both unusual and if they are close to the color of the chaise, would bring that over to the other side of the room. The white shade would probably be better, but is it too large for the table? It's hard to know without the dimensions. I like the other one, too, but that's bringing yet another color in with the shade.

Of the 2 lamps, I would choose w/ the 1st. It looks more expensive & the clear base is chic. However, I see it more in a modern space -- like Zgallerie style if you know what I mean. Your space has a more quaint beach cottage vibe, so I think something less chi-chi would do better.

The reason I suggest the terranium glass lamp because you can change and replace the content. For example, for Christmas you can fill it w/ pine cones & drift wood, and in the summer you can fill w/ pebbles & starfish, or sand dollar, etc....It makes it more interesting.

bellaflora - yes...I am starting to think that the clear glass lamp would be fun!

bellaflora - the glass lamp is 27.5" tall, is that too tall? The table is 35" tall, and 36" across.
