I have ACE Snickerdoodle and love it, Michigan Dunes, the color one darker down the strip is nice too. I think Ace Barley and Summer's Tan are great too - a tad more yellowy, maybe. I also just used Ace Flat Sensations (they're washable flat line with Scotchguard in it) and it looks great. After curing a month supposedly I will be able to wipe it down and anything on it will come right off - spag. sauce, crayons, dirt, lipstick (don't know exactly how that would get there, but even anything oil based will come right off, I'm told!) I also liked SW Muslin and an old SW Martha Stewart color called Pannier is lovely. HTH, kpk

Just wanted to chime in and thank you for this thread, nutmeg. I've been searching for that "perfect" neutral for my kitchen and, after painting it the wrong color last year, I'm back on it now and this thread really helped. Just picked up samples of: -Tobacco Road (I have admired this one for a very long time, but it may be too green for the space) -Whole Wheat (pretty sure this will be the one, but I like choice ;-) -Macadamia (this one may be too neutral for the space) We'll have to see, I'm going kicking and screaming against going too green... I have a dark green ceramic tile floor that I'm just not crazy about, but it cannot be changed right now so I must embrace it to a certain extent. The floor and the lighting (the big obligatory florescent - ick! - another thing to be changed later) are creating havoc with my walls ;-) and the color there now (Valspar Cottage Linen) is too neutral and not dark enough. I do love it in my studio (next door), however, so the excess paint will be used - it's what I call "tuxedo", plays well with black and white. I'll let you know which one I choose...

We sold a house in FL in a terrible market and everyone who saw it thought it was refreshingly different from all the other "neutralized" houses on the market. I think it is important to stand out in some way, to be the one house they remember after seeing the other thirty. That doesn't mean red flocked wallpaper (probably) but I don't think neutral paint or decorating is necessarily the answer. The other thing that made that house stand out to the buyers was that it was far cleaner than any others they looked at. I have an accepted offer on another house right now in a stagnant market and I just can't stress enough how important removing the "ick" factor is. We get used to our own dirt, but to others, it is ick. Making sure there is not one square inch that would illicit an ick response is more important than choosing the right paint color, IME.

I started to second guess my posting and whether that bluish color is actually Silver Sage -- I am so sorry, I know how confusing this can be and I don't mean to add to the confusion! It could actually be Benjamin Moore Cashmire Grey. Whatever the color is, on this dark, dreary, rainy morning - it now looks more green. This is why it is always a good idea to get samples and put up on your own walls so you can see at different times of the day. All my samples and 1000+ paint swatches went in the trash after reno - part of the "cleaning" out process. I can't help you with those other colors and don't want to guess!!! Trust yourself, you have beautiful colors in the other rooms!!!
