what I did today

This morning I went and got my haircut and decided to have my eyebrows done (I was looking like Andy Rooney..lol). Just wanted to have a little something done to pick up my spirits and feel good. Well that part worked....got a great style and i don't look like i have two caterpillars above my eyes.

Went and met up with DH to pick up some mail and we had a nice chat. I asked how my furbaby was and DH said that he was good but hiding. OKE is used to having DH around but not me anymore. Made me a little sad that he has forgotten me.

So I went home and took a nap and woke up with a headache. Took 2 asprin but cried at the thought of my OKE hiding from me. I know he is ok and DH loves and takes care of him but i miss him.

I agree it will get easier but sad that your OKE wasn't more friendly with you. Is it possible for you to get a cat for your new place? One who could listen to your troubles and offer unconditional love when you need it most. Sorry this has been such an adjustment for you, I'm hoping for brighter days in your near future.
Have you thought of going to a support group for newly divorced people?

-Renee, yep! An heirloom columbine and Geranium macrorrhizum ;-) -Mary Lu, that is indeed rhubarb. I have already made a few crisps from it this spring. Yum! -Susan, correct! That is 'Fireball' Geum, one of the bigger cultivars. It is only one plant- looks like more since the stems on this fellow have a habit of leaning, lol. -serenae, would love to see pics of the arbor you built sometime!! -mandolls and Lynne, thank you! Sleep in shifts on the ones that remain? Stack the denizens of your household on the ones that you have left? Check out estate sales? Send out messages to friends asking for contributions toward a mattress for Christmas (which you're celebrating in July, this year)?? Sorry that you've had such a frustrating day, Izzie. Do you have a list of email addresses of many of your friends, including ones from back as far as your childhood? Maybe send out a broadcast asking if any of them know of a family where they're clearing out the house of an elderly relative who's giving up the home ... says he, having read here on the KT this afternoon of the sadness of someone carrying out such a task. ole joyful

I didn't do too much either. Got up later than I have since I started walking for exercise since our daughter called just as I was ready to head to bed last night. She's used to my staying up half the night and lives in Cali so is two hours earlier than we are and is not used to my early bedtime yet. Never did get a load of laundry in like I planned, but did prepare a chair for staining, brought my stationery bike down from the second level (too hot for me to walk outside today) and watched our grandson this evening while his Daddy played softball. The later was the most fun of course. Oh and I rearranged some of my photo folders and cleared out my inbox. Both which desparately needed finishing. Now I have to copy and paste all the email updates and replies from family and friends on/for our son while he was in Iraq into word so I can print them up for him. Doubt he'll want them now, but someday when he's old he may like to read them.

Oh, what fun! That was a a good job day. :) I had a 4th-grade class yesterday which had a computer class with another teacher. Generally, I'm quite bored in those classes because the computer teacher doesn't want any help from me, and the kids are very good anyway. Yesterday she was able to do the "Hour of Code" session with them and they enjoyed it very much! It was fun to look around the room and see each and every child completely absorbed in what s/he was doing.

Animals never forget someone they've met - once they have your scent, they will remember you each time they see you. They bond as closely with you as you with them.

Your sweet OKE was probably punishing you--thinking you had been ignoring him and doesn't understand what's going on. Could you possibly share custody so you could have him part of the time? Hope you can work something out enjoyable for all three of you.

BTW, I would just love to have those "caterpillars". I hardly have any brows left!

It's okay to cry as you felt sad. Animals sometimes get pouty so maybe the next time he'll be different.

You have a lot of courage. Wish I did. Sorry about OKE. Can you get a cat from the humane society. I know a pet will be great companionship and may take your mind off your worries for a bit. Hugs to you.

I'm not allowed pets in my place...not even a goldfish.

I guess i am just haivng conflicting emotions. I hated leaving OKE but at the same time i didnt want to take him from DH. I felt DH needed him and i didn't want to upset OKE any more then he already was (with how we were over break he knew something was wrong). the week before I left i kept telling him that everything would be okay and that I loved him. When i said goodbye the last day I said "i love you and you will be okay..don't forget me".

There is a counselor at work that i have been talking to & is helping me with a lot of these emotions. It may sound funny but i have a stuffed animal (black cat) that I can at least hug before i go to bed each night.

Listen to your counselor about getting in touch with your emotions. You have a lot more going on than just missing your pet. Your whole life is changing. Don't get distracted. Trust your Self.

It has to be so hard to leave OKE. I would take comfort from a snuggle with your black cat, too; that seems normal to me. :)

Good for you about getting a little makeover..that's always a good thing.
