Friend and I splurged for lunch, today, at J Alexanders, while my car was being repaired (a recall).

I Knew I could not handle a whole one, so waitress graciously split it in half for us.

Anyone like those flavored martinis?

Friend really enjoys pomegranete martinis.

And I KNOW Donna OH likes her dirty martini!

Crazy, busy weekend here again due to many things. Thanks for all the cool and supportive responses. All of the troops need those no matter the country. Justin knows about all y'all and as always asked what's up with your foodie/cooking friends....way before his military thing. We were talking today at the lake and he thinks he was...yikes.. 13 or 14 when he first tried Sharon's pickles from a swap years ago. Man time flies! Thanks again everyone but this guy has to get to hit the hay so to speak. Justin and his group got the best of me at the lake today. OY! I'm starting to feel my age.....LOL! David

I had a lettuce salad with different things on it, cheese, mushrooms, tomatoes, cucumbers, croutons and poppy seed dressing. I also had a tablespoon of kidney bean salad and about the same of cole slaw, plus I had the pot pie and a sausage and green beans and fried rolls with apple butter and the greatest iced tea. mr. gabriel cut his first tooth just yesterday! he will be 8 months old on saturday. he's doing great! i think he's gonna be one of those babies who skips crawling all together and just starts walking. he "walks" all over the place with help from whichever grownup can bend long enough without back pain. LOL! needless to say, we take turns! he has figured out quickly all about putting one foot in front of the other. melissa is in the process of putting gates up to keep him corralled. he LOVES to be in the pool!!! he splashes like crazy and doesn't care a bit about getting his face wet. :) thanks for asking about him! he is the light of my life. i'm going up tomorrow to spend the day with him. he has this cute little fake cry when he's getting tired but fighting sleep. it cracks me up! i laugh at him and he starts laughing back. i LOVE rocking him to sleep! he is eating lots of different foods and is drinking from a little cup!!

Tuna casserole is one of those dishes that requires NO recipe! Just ad lib - all you need is cooked pasta, tuna, seasonings, any veggies of your choice and a cream sauce. And some sort of topping - grated cheese, crushed saltines or potato chips, fried onions. Bake until hot and bubbly. This is my adult daughter's favorite dinner and she requests it specifically whenever she comes to visit. When she was little, I used to make it with a packaged macaroni and cheese (like Kraft or Velveeta) and add some sour cream. Quick, very easy and suited to a child's taste buds. Now I get a little more sophisticated and use rotini or spiral pasta (have also used shells and orecchiette), bechamel and real cheese. Sometimes I add mushrooms .And when making for her, always peas....but only canned peas :-)

Shared?????? Duh!!

As you said, I LOVE a good Dirty Martini (2 is all I can drink) My neighbors are in to those flavored Martinis & I really don't care for them--but, I don't turn them down either--LOL I've had the apple one & I can't remember the other one they gave me!

What is a dirty martini? I have never had a flavored martini - just the plain old gin one, and not even one of those in the last three or four years. The lemon drop martini sounds good.

My kids and their SOs like the flavored martinis, and I served Lemon Drop martinis and Chocolate martinis at Christmas. If I order one out, though, it's Grey Goose with olives, straight up.

I was always a dry white wine girl, Rieslings were my fav, or a nice Scotch, a Glenmorangie or Glenlivet.

Now my cravings are awakened and my mouth is watering. I can no longer endulge in these wonderful drinks. I swear I can smell them right now. That'll teach me to open a thread that has the word "martini" in it. LOL

I've had a dirty Martini, but couldn't finish it. First two sips were fine. After that...yuk! My DD likes Apple Tiniti's. I might try one sometime.

Love martini's. Have tried several of the new martinis' , love them, but my favorite is the classic martini with olive.

It has been years since I had a martini, my DMIL loved them. My toddy of choice is a Manhattan on the rocks. I have one or two on my birthday, at home of course. No driving after indulging in those!! Dottie

I have a bottle of Pearl Plum vodka and a bottle of sake waiting for me to make a saketini. I've never had one, but when I saw the plum vodka on sale, complete with a recipe around the neck of the bottle, I was tempted to try them. All I need is pineapple juice . . . and someone to have one with me. :-)

I've never had a martini of any kind, but I didn't know about the fruit flavored ones until my daughter told me about them a while back. She likes them. I think they're a long way from the old traditional martinis which appealed to me (without having tasted them) about as much as drinking gasoline would :-)

On my birthday one year, I had an Almond Joy martini. It was the first martinit I ever had. It was soooooooooooo good! I've tried to duplicate it, haven't yet!

I've also had some sort of pear martini which was also very good.

I tried the appletini, don't care for sour apple, so didn't care for this one.

I'll keep trying to reproduce that Almond Joy one though. I remember it was clear liquid, because the glass had chocolate syrup swirled all around on it. I'm having trouble making a clear one. LOL.

October 17, here's one from Bar Meister

Cocktail Recipe: Almond Joy Martini
1 oz Bailey's Irish Cream
1 oz Godiva (dark)
1 oz Malibu Coconut Rum

Place all ingredients in martini shaker. Add several ice cubes and shake. Strain into chilled martini glass.
