I've been gone most of the day and just got back. First thing I did was rush here to see what you had to say. Even if you don't see him again you had a lovely lunch date. Even if you didn't "click" it seems like you must have enjoyed each other's company enough to talk for that long. That's a real plus in my book.

It's been 26 years since I've been out on a date.

Two couples I know met on Match.com and I decided, what the heck, why not!

I'm not looking for marriage. If it happens it happens, BUT being as I love to travel, etc, having a travel partner, movie friend, concert goer, share holidays with would make life less lonelier.

Good for you Glenda! I met my ....what....can't call him a BOYfriend...we're both over 50. My heartmate I guess.....online. We knew each other just 5 months before I packed my car and drove to Colorado to move in with him, and actually meet face to face for the first time. My sister STILL thinks it was crazy, 2 1/2 years later, but I swear it was one of the best moves of my life. Yes, there's been ups and downs. We went to counseling for a bit to iron out some communication errors, but through it all, we've loved each other, and were there for each other.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, meeting online isn't all about serial killers and rapists. YES....be careful, but also be willing to take chances. Safe chances :)

I still have hope he will call again. There is someone out there for you!! I mean I got Tony at Walmart. I was a vendor and he would bring my boxes of heavy books out for me. At first I thought he was one of the "special" people that Walmart sometimes hire. When he would bring my books out he would be red faced and didn't say a word, just sorta grinned at me. His mom dressed him funny. A group of Walmart employees started going out to lunch and they included me. Pretty soon Tony started coming along. My DB was playing at a club downtown & I invited all of the "gang" down. Guess who showed up? I was pretty drunk when he got there. Hey my parent were there I had a ride home & a Mom that wouldn't let me get out of line. Anyhooo Tony drove me home in his brand new mustang. After a couple of beers he started talking to me. We sat in front of my parents house talking. I realized he was very smart, just painfully shy. Like I said I was 3 sheets to the wind,and I kissed him. Well let me tell you my eyeballs changed sockets, my toes curled, and I saw fireworks. I just "knew" that he was the one. We started dating in December & married in May 23.5 years ago. And I love him more each day.

So don't judge a book by its cover...and if you get married I want to be a bridesmaid!!! lol

Good for you, Glenda! Some of my very best friends have been men with whom there was no distracting chemistry. It's a lot more fun to go to dinner and a movie with a male pal (or gal pal) than alone, for example. My wish for you is that you discover some wonderful new friends. If romance happens along the way.......yippee! If not, yippee to that as well.

You have so much to offer....anyone would benefit from a friendship with you. It takes courage to step into internet dating, but I'm not worried about you doing something scary or stupid.

Wow, Glenda, I hadn't realized your upcoming adventure at Ruby Tuesday included meeting a date from Senior.com! I'm glad you had an enjoyable time. You can meet some nice people and gain some new friends even if you don't exactly 'click'.

Just a couple of comments. Gary and I met via match.com. For us, it was an instant click. But I had met some others for lunch or dinner where there was no click either. One fellow I met for lunch was a former IBM employee (retired) and I work for IBM so we instantly had something in common. We had a good lunch, enjoyed conversation, and afterward he emailed me to let me know he wouldn't be contacting me again because I was too tall for him LOL!! I'm 5'6" and he was a couple of inches shorter than me.... hmmm.... now that I think of it, he was almost exactly the same height that Gary is!

Gary and I also share the same birthday, February 20th, except in our case he is 3 years younger than me.

We have been happily married for over 5 years now :-)

Oh Glenda, I'm so happy that you decided to try the dating scene again. Don't get discouraged because dating is a numbers game. You have to sort through the chaff to find a jewel. I recently met a lovely man on match.com but went out on at least 20 first dates before him. Some of them were pretty bad. Take notes. We can collaborate on a book.

I met my boyfriend on OK Cupid. I've had mostly good experiences with online dating.

One thing I have noticed with online dating is that you often have to be a bit more assertive if you like someone, moreso than "traditional" dating. For one, there's usually a little more competition as most people are talking with more than one person, and it's easy to misinterpret silence as not being interested when really the person is waiting for the other to make a next move.

I've had the most luck (if I like the person) to let them know and not wait to hear from them. If I'm so-so on the person, I will usually wait.

Glad is was overall a good experience. Do you think seniors are more honest when it comes to online dating?
But now you have me wondering......what didn't you like?
