You could mix the dry ingredients in this one and then cut in the butter. There is also a master mix out there for cake mix. If you would like to have it, I could post it also.

YELLOW CAKE MIX (HOMEMADE)

2 c. flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 1/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
3/4 c. fluid milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Beat together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.

To mix the cake add the flour mixture slowly to butter mixture in a large bowl, beating well (300 times).

Add half of the flour mixture, then half of the milk and the vanilla. Mix (50 times). Add the eggs, beating well after each addition.

Add the remaining flour mixture, then the rest of the milk. Mix until smooth (200 times).

Fill a greased, floured baking pan or 2 layer pans no than half full.

Bake at 375 degrees (moderate oven) 25 to 35 minutes until cake springs back when lightly touched near center.

A little Bundt Pan history...

The cast-iron kugelhupf pan is common in Europe and in 1950, a group of Minneapolis women asked Nordic Products owner H. David Dalquist to make an aluminum version of the pan. Ten years later, the new Good Housekeeping Cookbook showed a pound cake baked in one, and suddenly every woman wanted a Bundt Pan.

The 1966 Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest was won with the "Tunnel of Fudge Cake". If you would like that recipe, I'll be happy to post it. In 1972 the grand prize winner in the Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest was a Bundt Streusel Spice Cake and 11 top winners also called for a bundt pan. I'll see if I have that booklet in my collection.

So the Bundt cake pan is a newcomer in kitchens with more than forty million pans in existence in America.

Generally, cakes that have too much sugar in them to have good structure are used in recipes using a tube or Bundt pan. Which is different from a standard cake.

That is interesting about the sugar, grainlady, I didn't know what it was that made some recipes not work well in a bundt.

I will check out your links, thanks for the tips about Pillsbury bake off winners, I do have a Pillsbury cookbook
that has a section on winners. I used to make that winning spice cake often but haven't in a long time.

The Chocolate Cinnamon Bundt cake recipe (in the thread lowspark linked to) has a softer, more moist texture than a pound cake. I wouldn't say it's like a cake mix, since it's better than that! That's the last I made recently, but I can tell you it's very good.
