A Beautiful Surprise from Marigene!

Marigene knows I am dish crazy and sent me these beautiful Neiman Marcus "Queen" plates, bowls and salads. It made my day..they are just lovely...

Thank you, Marigene....you are a sweetheart! I promise never to serve spare ribs on them (she doesn't like them,:(

Dinner was pork cutlets, fried rice, snow peas and egg rolls.

Terri, as I was signing on I was thinking I hadn't seen you post recently..know you are busy with the boys sports, school, etc, and then there you were..strange!!!
Yes, they are really pretty!

I wish I hadnt just read that Karyn, lol. That'a a bummer for me..one of the Xmas cuttings you sent me was a Hi Dbl White x L'Amour that died..waaah, what could have been, lol. I hope it does stabilize as a 2tone for you..its so pretty, I had to come back on and take a 2nd look at her. Weird how only the deformed ones are 2toned.

Jandey, you may be right. I scoured the web and looking at photos of Heidi Gold, the inflo has similar coloring and as the blooms open you can see the lavender edge on the back of the petals.

Your S. hybridum plants are probably "compact" now because they're still brand new, small plants, but they're not gonna look compact at all by the time they bloom this summer. If you want them to look compact again next winter/spring you'll need to cut them all the way down to the ground after they finish blooming. That will give them time enough to grow back out into a pretty, short "mat" before they go dormant next winter. For more info check out Zach's current "Succulents look succu-lost" thread. And in that thread I link to an old ground cover thread that has some pretty good pics of what both of them look like when they're cut short and have their winter color, and also when they're growing long and blooming. My May 2 reply in the groundcovers thread shows the best comparisons. My Ajuga is just barely starting to show signs of new growth, and mine has been in for years so yours, being new plants, will probably start a little bit later. After the Ajuga blooms you're gonna want to cut the dead flower stems off of them too if you want them to look good the rest of the summer. You can either go thru it and cut out just the flower stems, or you can go over it and shear down all the stems AND the foliage, and in a couple weeks it'll be growing back all fresh and pretty for the rest of summer. Kathleen, those dishes are absolutely beautiful & so perfect for the color of season's end hydrangeas as a backdrop! I also love your white napkins...did you get those locally?

Looking at the picture I think of summer at the shore & having dinner on a porch filled with white wicker furniture.

Marigene, you did really GOOD!
