WOW...you did great. I've not seen purple carrots here but will look for them now. Next week is the final week for one of our farmers markets and I have to make sure that I get there early.

GOOD job!!! we are corn snobs and have had some incredible "silver king" over the last couple of weeks from a small farm just down the road. i've checked twice in the past 3 days and his sign isn't up and i'm afraid the season might be done :( but it was wonderful and i sure hope your corn is as good as ours has been!

My favorite place to shop (next to the hardware store). We are fortunate to have two year round farmers markets. I spent the morning at the one near my home yesterday, my daughter is a vendor ... she sells handmade chocolates :) They even had a string quartet playing old-time folk songs.

ohiomom, sounds nice. This was a couple tents behind a railroad sation, LOL. No ambiance, but I had fun :)

Lucky, Kathleen, you have many markets at your disposal. I haven't been out east in a while and the way it's going, we're going to have to wait until spring!

I microwaved the cauliflower and the water turned a beautiful shade of purple, then I sauted it with some orange tomatoes. It was good. Cool color. Tomorrow I'll make some carrots. It'll be some very colorful dinners the next few nights!

Carol, that's a great haul, my corn is all done, as is any local corn around here. I grew the purple carrots last year, I think mine were called Dragon Tongue, all I could think of was that mouthwash commercial where the guy has "dragon breath", LOL, but the carrots were good.

I haven't seen the purple cauliflower here, does it just taste like white cauliflower? And are those grapes in that green container?

Kathleen, handmade chocolates? That sounds as good as fresh beets and I love beets...

Annie, the purple tasted the same as the white to me. but the color was so pretty, should have gotten the yellow, too! Sort of like Mardi Gras cauliflowers! Yes, the guy said they were concord grapes. I thought they'd be sweet. I was wrong. Really tart. and seeds. No one here liked them!

Carol, Concords are great for wine or jelly, but not much for eating grapes. Quick, make a batch of grape jam!

OK, so the cauliflower tasted the same, but looked pretty. It matched the carrots!

Too late, Annie. I never thought of jelly. My friend roasted her bunches of carrots and loved them. So tomorrow I'll roast the beets and the carrots. Didn't get to it tonight for dinner!

Concord grapes are grown here in NE Ohio. I love them when they are deep purple, to me they are sweet. DH doesn't like dealing with seeds, these are the grapes my Mom bought when I was young and I use to have to drive out to the country to find when I got grown. Now they are available at the market along with those little purple plums. I bought both this weekend :)

ohiomom, I thought they would be sweet. Larry doesn't like seeds. I didn't mind the seeds but I didn't like the "pucker" and they weren't a deep dark purple, these weren't sweet at all. Disappointed, but next time I find them, I'll do like Annie said and make jam :)

I planted seedless Concord grapes but only got a few this year, it's the first harvest. I like the sweet middle with the sour skin, but many people don't. It's funny, though, it's nearly impossible to find Concord grapes around here and when I do, they are extremely expensive.
