Hi Mike Nelson here. I use a pair of 400's on my rack and a third 400 which is a switchable ballast in the middle between the two dual filaments. I have to change the bulb on the middle one of course when going from grow to flower. I would have preferred to have three switchable ballasts but I bought the two hps ballasts before I really knew what I wanted. I could have bought conversion bulbs to plug a MH into HPS ballasts but they were expensive. How do they work for me on my pot crop. Very well actually I expected that the middle with the switchable ballast and changable bulbs would have outperformed the ends with the dual filament bulbs but not the case. They are about the same. I do switch on 1200 watts of radial florescents at budding time and maybe that is a factor. In the green groth state when the flors are not on, only the dual filaments and the MH in the middle the green groth state is almost the same or the same. I have a pulley lowering system I crank up and down with a boat trailer winch and I keep the 400's 14" over the top of the plants. My grow space is 4' by 8'.I hope this helps you out Mike. A friend of mine has suggested that I should use one of those motorised tracker and move to two 600 w switchable ballasts instead of what I am using like he does but he is a hydro guy and I am an organic soil operation. I think he outproduces me by quite a bit. Maybe I will just keep my rack and switch to hydro in the near future. Power failures are still scaring me and probably won't do it until I can convert my grow area to a back up generator. Nelson

Thanks for the responses ! For some reason the problem is not present today. Or I should say "problems." The two issues (the clicking sound when depressing a key and the inability to press the same key twice without pausing for a couple seconds) both resolved themselves (proving at least that they must have been related). grandms, It's an HP laptop, so the keyboard is integrated. It was not listed as a separate device in the Printers and Other Hardware section. And the Device Manager (which I also checked) didn't have anything of import either. :-( genes, Yes, she already has that, as well as Avira AV and SAS. I will be running those scans for her soon. I only asked my question before doing so in case anyone might have known of this issue and knew it to have some other obvious cause. Well, for now it's a mystery. But if my scans find anything I'll post an update, just for information's sake. Thanks again !

I have found that this problem occurs because the carriage is in the wrong place. Use the following steps. Turn off the printer. open the door. If the carriage holding the cartridges does not rest at the proper place Ie where you can get the cartridges out then slide the cartridges to the correct place. Now shut the door and fire up the printer. You should not be asked to align

Thank you so much for your replies! This quote is from Salesman #3. He is the grandson of the man who started this heating and cooling company in 1945. His dad and 3 brothers all still work there. They were voted "Contractor of the Year" in 2002 and won an "Ethical Business Award" in our area last year or the year before. I thought they would be the most expensive, so I had him come out last, but his quote is the best. (he said he could do gas heat with heat pump,but doesn't recommend it based on our cheap electric. He said you have to set a temp where heat pump turns off and gas kicks in, same as Salesman #2) Last question - Does it seem reasonable that in this area people haven't been spending the money for a higher SEER unit because we only need to cool for 3 months or so? (it takes too long to get back the initial added cost) He said there hasn't been the demand for these units in this area, but I wonder if the stimulus rebate changes that. The $1500 rebate is pretty new, do they just need some time to catch up? Is it worth pushing him to quote me something from Rheem that does qualify? From what I can see on the Rheem website they have a 3 ton system that qualifies, in their high-end systems. It has lots of "bells and whistles" and I can't tell how much more it will cost. This contractor has said that he prefers to "keep it simple". less areas to have problems down the line. Do you think it is worth pursuing this in light of the new rebate?
