oceanna, your mock up is gorgeous! i am so happy you went with the colors he wanted instead of catering to that rug. i guess i was trying to say that when i suggested i had willed my taupe rug into participating:-) then, this am, i had another thought-- you know, real limestone is both warm golds and cool greys-- basically, taupe. so why can't you pick up on the warmer colors in the carpet, as if it were stone? everything does not have to match....and i think this proves that once again. spirit over rules.... you are a wonderful mom and i laughed so hard as you described his reluctance. i have a male friend whose home i help decorate and i have gotten used to hearing "um....okay, but is it going to be too much x?" i too sold him on a paint color by calling it whiskey and tabacco, alternatively. never thought to call it beer, though-- brilliant! i love the curtains and colors in your mock up. it's everything he said he wanted. he'll get used to the paint color; it's just new and i've noticed that men have a rally tough time visualizing color and accepting change. lastly, i've noticed that men like lace curtains. very, very strange. and same man will start twitching if you mention floral prints or animal prints. where's the taste?:-) can't wait to see a pic when you are done painting! hope he had a great b-day!

Daisy, Aunt Barbara was a WAC. She is very proud of that. I do love her dearly. I've been playing around with The Gimp (it's similar to Photoshop) and fixed that photo of my aunt and the one in the back of my mother. I threw them in the bookcase Thursday night when I was rushing around. I also have one of my father who was an Sargent in the Army in the China Burma India Theater. I miss him terribly. I am sorry about the loss of your stepmom. You can hyjack my thread any time you want. :) Parma the legs in #1 are kinda weird. I just wanted to see what the two looked like posted together. :)

For what it's worth...........I've done the SW $5 quart in other brands too. Is it the same? Well, I think that if you are completely set on having the absolutely positively exactly the same not even a hairsbreadth of difference in shade right color...........then, no........mixing in another brand to test the quart will not 100% be accurate. And even from gallon to gallon, when you have your paint mixed, the experts say there can be a tiny smidgeon of difference. That's why they recommend mixing some of your gallons in a larger container to paint. And here's what I say....If you painted a wall in Ben Moore's Concord Ivory and went back to finish it in a match by Sherwin Wms........you will have a problem. It will look almost the same, but the difference will be visible. If you painted the wall in BM Concord Ivory and went back to 'touch up' a spot you nicked with a chair, but you use a special BM quart that you bought just for touchups, you may even have a slight difference. However, if you are thinking that a quart of paint mixed to try will give you a WAY big difference from how that paint will look on your walls...........then, no. It is going to look like your test quart. And even a $5 test qt. from SW will probably tell you what you need to know if you really put that paint on the wall...........don't skimp. Use it up. Red

The main field is sage green, the red is more of a persimmon color which I like, the one light color you see which appears white is a very pretty pale blue, and of course you have two different shades of tans/beiges along with the black border. The main reason I chose this was because of the color pallette. The Overstock photo is not as pretty as the Garnett Hill, even though they are the same rug. If you look closely, Overstock appears more "bright pastel" and the Garnett Hill is more earthy. In real life, it is more earthy tones also. I have new LR furniture coming this weekend which is neutral beige with a very subtle black thread (you really have to look to see it), but I had the throw pillows upgraded to a floral with red and green on black background. To me the pillows will be the "icing on the cake" and I wanted a rug that had all these colors, with limited black, hence the black border. I was actually beginning to regret ordering the black pillows because I was having a difficult time finding the a rug that had all the colors, plus black, until I found this one. I wanted a rug that I could change out accessories later and this is going to be perfect for that. When I get tired of my red, green, and gold stage I can use a softer pallette of softer greens, beiges, golds, blues, etc. If you are really interested, you might want to watch the inventory - it is "high risk sell-out". In fact, when I first found it, the 9 x 12 was out of stock, I called the company, they verified they did not have it, opened up the web-site the next day and they had 4. Go figure!
