TGIF - Friday Sept 5

Well, I just realized no one started one...I am getting ready to pick my boy up after his second day of school. He is happy - loves his teacher - a guy who has a tarantula, gecko, rat snake - all in the classroom. I am lonely. I'll get over it, but I love having him with me. It's just going to get harder as he gets older, I know. 5th grade, he is the king of the elementary school. Next year, he'll be the baby of the middle school.

No big plans for the weekend. Scott has been gone pretty much for 3 weeks - back soon. Hope he can relax and unwind. I might see what's on at the drive in.Tomorrow he wants to watch Penn State in the basement with a couple buddies and asked me to make snacks.

Have a great weekend! I'll clink after school and after visiting my mom...

I recall that bitter sweet time when Meredith went back to school in the Fall....you're right you'll get over it!!! Wait until he goes away to University, that kills.....but then just when you are used to being "a couple" again they come back...LOL

Would really love to go to the lake this weekend but I have to go to Ottawa Tuesday to help my SIL with her sons wedding next weekend. Can't imagine what she would be like if she was Mother of the bride!! This woman has serious control issues.

Anyhow, all that to say, I have to stay home and get some canning out of the way, tomato sauce, stewed tomatoes, chile sauce and salsa.

Clive has some yard work he needs to deal with so, it's a city weekend for us.

Happy Friday Everyone!!

Can I just say for the record that I have never been this tired and drained in my entire life!!!
My hayfever is hitting me really hard this year...lots of sinus pressure makes it hard to get decent sleep.
Of course the events of the last month have added to my stress level and then Wed my mom was rushed to the hospital.
Nothing too serious just a lot of dizziness, confusion and fatigue...her electrolytes, magnesium and sugars was all way down. She was dehydrated but still well enough to go against medical advice and signed herself out yesterday.
I honestly do not know why she is so pig headed...they just wanted her to stay in for one more day to run a few more tests.
Grrrrr!!!

On a brighter side tonight is dear nephews engagement party/brothers thank you party....let me explain. Stephen's son Stephen Jr got engaged while his dad was in the nursing home. So they want to have a party to welcome Ashley to the frey and to thank everyone for their support.

Amy will be home later to spend the night...she is still in shock about the cat but she wants her ashes.

Tomorrow I have a very short day in work-truth be told if I feel the same tomorrow I will take the day off and chill out.
Sunday I am off so we are going to some open houses here in our area to see what we are up against in this market.
If time allows we will then go to our desired neighborhood to look for homes.

Next week is the first full week of school for Drew. He seems so jazzed for school this year and I hope he can keep his momentum all year!!

Tomorrow its supposed to be storming here in the PHilly area so to everyone all over the country dealing with bad weather please be careful!!

Wanda, you haven't given credit to the source of many of your quotes so I'm not sure that they're actually quotes but rather some homespun wisdom. Either yours or people you know. TGIF my eye! It's been an unusually busy week and I'm running out of time. What's left to do? Youngest graduates from college Sunday, so I have to at least give the house a lick and a promise, shop and prepare food for Sunday's gathering; mow the lawn - I have lists within lists! It's only going to be the rest of our kids and their families, but that is 18 people in all, and some of them will spend Sat. night here. Let me brag a bit here. We are six for six in the college grad dept., and four have their masters. The fifth says she's done with school except for craft classes, and Sunday's grad (magna cum laude!) is going to loaf for a year before grad school. Our buttons are bursting, I can tell you that. Back to my list: I'm sewing a dress for #5 to wear to a wedding next weekend, but I've hit a snag and can't get back to sewing until Monday, so I'm worrying about that project. I know it'll get done and she'll be beautiful, but I wish I had gotten it done already. Our ancient cat seems to be sick and is throwing up all over the place, so hubby said he'll take cat to the vet today. The gardens are getting overrun because I've been too busy to get back to them, and it looks like they may have to wait another week. Hub can't mow the lawn (heart dr said so; I think they are in cahoots!) so I have to do that today. And things are breaking down, too. The garage door spring broke Monday; the dishwasher door lock keeps getting stuck with dishes inside; I just got a recall notice for my car; the "a" key on my keyboard sticks so I have to keep going back to retype "a"; those are the little things - my list of big things is huge! OK. I just needed to rant a bit on your beautiful parade! Now it's back to the salt mines for me. I promise to take many opportunities to enjoy my spring gardens while I'm wearing myself out today, and I know hub will make me laugh a lot. We celebrated 40 years on Mother's Day, and I must say it's been great. Sherry

seems as if there is lots here to clink to tonight! of COURSE i've already raised a toast to annie and elery--and i'll look forward to seeing pictures of the happy couple tomorrow--cheers! bubbe has her arthur home and we all know how tough trips to the hospital can be--especially on the spouse. it's great to know that things are as they should be again! but i want to clink again; this time for susie. with extra best wishes that your family continues to gain strength and improve every day. i'm very, very happy to know your little girl with be returning soon as i'm sure that will be an extra special treat for you! and here's hoping that everyone else has something particularly wonderful to enjoy this weekend--clink!

Susie, sorry about your hayfever. DH has allergies & he's having a tough fall also. I'm sorry about your Mom. Hope she OK to be home. Enjoy the party tonight.

I made two more batches of muffins for the freezer this morning. Combined with yesterday's baking I've got 35 jumbo-sized muffins in the freezer. That's should last 3-4 months.

We're under a tropical storm watch that will be a warning by tonight. Hanna's supposed to cross somewhere between New London, CT & Watch Hill, RI. We're right in between those two places. Predictions are for 5-7" of rain, winds between 45-55 mph, & a 2-3' surge. We're at neap tide so I'm not worried about surge. Depending on how fast it comes down...the 5-7" of rain 'might' be a problem?? I've got all of the garden stuff that could turn into a projectile into the garage & removed the awning from the glider. DH is coming in early & we'll toss a few extra lines on the boat.

We had an appointment tomorrow with Ethan Allen to start the process of getting drapes made for our sunroom. I cancelled it a few minutes ago. DH said he needs to be at the marina to help secure boats. Oh well, I wasn't thrilled about using EA anyway.

I'll be making sandwiches tomorrow for the guys standing marina watch. Because the center of the storm is supposed to cross our area about 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning it's going to be a long night for the guys. I'll probably make a crockpot of chili so they have something hot during the overnight hours. Thankfully, the storm's moving very fast & should be clear of us by mid-day Sunday. We're not expecting much damage to the marina but people have to stand watch just in case.

I'm pretty useless at the marina during storms (other than providing food) so I'll probably curl up with my genealogy & try to solve the mystery du jour.

I'm just cooking and canning. Elery got here yesterday and we took a trip out to the Amish market. Now I have honey wheat bread in the bread machine and more pork in the roaster, the last of the pulled pork for the wedding party next Saturday. I'm going to start on a batch of cherry/white chocolate shortbread in just a few minutes, also for the party. Tomorrow I'm going to the farm and pick tomatoes, I'll have some canning to do tomorrow night and Monday, maybe Tuesday, then Wednesday we start on the wedding party last minute cooking, the cake, picking up beer, all the last minute stuff.

So, I'm a day late and will be for another week or so,LOL.
