Happy TGIF everyone.

We are happy campers here since we got our power back on yesterday. Our only plans for the weekend are for more clean up from the Sunday storms. We lost our garage and laundry room, both cars, washer & dryer,and the deep freezer due to a neighbors tree coming down on our house. At least the living areas of our home escaped damage this time. Those were damaged in the June storms.

I am clinking with my cold diet Pepsi.

Ihave lots of power here. My weekend will be spent going through more of Dad's papers, canning tomatoes, making grape jelly and packing sauerkraut.

I need a bit of "normalcy" right now, so canning is going to take all of my Saturday. Back to the farm on Sunday, and I have to help the Monkey Princess make treats for her kindergarten class. Something "healthy" and "not too messy". (grin)

Maybe peanut butter granola bars, or those peanut butter based cereal treats. Thankfully, not a single child in her class of 25 has any food allergies.

Clinking with a beer!

Took the day off work to put a water pump on my truck. Last one only lasted 60,000 miles. Cheaper then a new truck I guess. Waiting for the engine to cool down so it is safe to work on.

Probably mow some grass later and maybe a trip to the bar tonight. Working the weekend. Started my day with a long angry e-mail to our top manager so it will be ugly when I get back. Some of my guys were wrote up because managers didn't have time to meet with them for the last two years. Makes me angry because all they have to do is ask and my guys will do... simple as that. Now I have a bunch of workers that are frightened and angry. Great teamwork from our support staff.... not!

Maybe I had better switch to whiskey.

Foxes, What pretty containers for your forced bulbs. I can almost smell the hyacinths now, and look forward to future pics...hint hint. My Mother always said a little dirt never hurt anyone: it builds a good strong immune system. :) Donna, I agree, but the dirt here is the house isn't like good ole outside dirt. If it was, I could just run the sweeper and be done with it...sigh. EEEWWWWWW the dreaded sister visit. I LOVE my sister, but at her house not mine. For years and years, I was the one to go visit her at 'her' house, which is why she hasn't been here in so long. Goodness you have a wonderful and talented BIL. Congrats on finishing, Chemo. Thanks Newbie, but now I can no longer say I am done, since I bought more bulbs recently. (Note thread I was hopeless at the $1 sale yesterday Sue, I liked how you covered all your bases by calling this the 08/09 planting thread. Do you plan on going over into '09? Well it was not my intentions to still be planting in 2009, but thought others might still be. Now it seems I will be planting myself in Jan 2009...sigh. Sue...off to clean something

Ive already done a few (hehehe) I had some fresh azure monkshood and delphiniums that I wanted to get in the dirt ASAP, so I started with that and followed with lupines, hollyhock mallow and some montbrietta (also wanted to get that in fresh). Limiting myself to perennials that actuallY NEED the cold for now. I think I made a mistake in DSing some california poppies in the beds in front, not sure if that was a good idea or not. Not sure if the seeds should be frozen, not sure if the slugs and earwigs will eat them as soon as they sprout. I think tomorrow Ill do balloon flowers (I got pink --I hope).

melissa.mmm...thanks SO much for the recipe, they look wonderful...I am going to need the no calorie day after eating them..LOL I think I would like a " no cost " day....could Buy anything you wanted ...just for one day...oh, I am dreaming too...LOL Ok, I dont know if I can type it ALL, BUT I just recd my box, and WOW, did Pixie spoil me !! I recd pond plants..which I am gonna surprise hubby with for his pond. A cute card with two mystery seeds SEVERAL named cannas, and in PINK, which is my fav plant color.. Lots of great chocolate two little chocolate bunny statues..they are too cute ! a mini greenhouse with pellets to grow my mystery seeds CHOCOLATE MINT GERANIUM, for my choc garden... some Iris and daylilies Shasta daisy and some great recipes and recipe cards... I am so thankful for all of this wonderful stuff to enjoy...thanks soo much !! Oh, and a nunch of seeds... I think I need to send a bit more to my buddy next month, I thought we were to stick to the list...now I know better ! Thanks for making my day !!!

Harold, glad to hear the surgery went well. Recovery is pretty quick, isn't it? Don't strain your eyes while you wait. I had LASIK about 9 years ago and remember having to be very careful for a few days not to get poked in the eye or anything, wearing sunglasses even inside for the first day or two. Silversword! You are just rockin', girlfriend! I am amazed at you. 129--one TWENTY nine! Woo-hoo! Here's something some of you might be interested in. There's a site at www.weightview.com where you can upload a photo of yourself (in somewhat form-fitting clothes) and plug in your current and goal weights. Then they will adjust the photo to give you an idea of what you'll look like at your goal weight. It's free, but you have to have a Facebook account to log in to their FB page where they will post your altered photo for you. (They don't post your weight or any info about you, and even though there is a weigh-loss community there you can join, you don't have to do it.) I did it today (it's totally free) and got my photo a few hours later. Of course, I don't know how accurate it is, but if it is on target, then I might want to drop my goal weight a little more. I don't know. My body type is really weird. I wonder if I'll ever really be happy with my end results. I doubt I'll ever look sleek or svelte, always "matronly." I'm so glad it's Friday, it's been a really long week. My dh is taking me out for a belated anniversary dinner, I'll report back if it's good! This weekend, I'll be going to a football game with my dh's company, canning as much of Annie's salsa as possible and painting my garden shed. It's time to get all the outdoor projects wrapped up so the inevitable rains can come.

My first time joining in on a TGIF...
It's been a rough month. I haven't had a day off yet. We took a 3-week vacation in August and I'm still paying for it, trying to catch up. No diet coke for me. Just finished a nice glass of red wine.

But Linda, like you, my in-laws had been without power for two weeks, we have plenty. And after lots of computer glitches, everything ran smoothly this week. For that I am truly thankful.
