I hate mixes!

But....

Someone gave me one of those Sturdiwheat bread mixes...it was a Swedish Rye....and it was my SIL who gave it to me....and she knows full well that I make a very good Swedish rye and that I don't have a bread machine.

Well it was sitting around and finally I thought you might as well make it....so I followed the directions, but they didn't call for enough water....so I added more....and after 2 1/2 hours it was showing mo action, so I figured the yeast was dead and kneaded in another teaspoonfull. And after 4 hours I shaped loaves ( cussing the mix the whole time!) and set it in the micro to rise....and finally pulled them out of the oven about 8:30. Wrapped them before I went to bed. And sliced one loaf for my toast this morning!

OH! MY! is that ever yummy!!....very heavy anise...quite sweet and very dark rye with a little hint of orange.

So now I guess I will be on a rye bread kick!

Ever had a mix that turned out better than you expected?
