SNOW~~They're predicting about 2" for us in Baton Rouge. It's a big deal to us in south Louisiana.

I wish I could get excited about hearing snow in our forecast. LOL I hope you enjoy it.

Zinc has the interveinal chlorosis, small leaves, and shortened internodes. So you end up with a rosette of small leaves on the ends of the branches. Iron doesn't give the small leaf symptom or short internodes. To me your leaf looks more like iron deficiency, but if it is, it's not serious. Follow jeans advice. The tree is so newly planted it's hard to tell. Adding nutrients may do more harm than good. Just try to get it established before you throw too many things it's way. The Fruitnut

Alana, Sounds like the temps I would be hoping for, do you wrap them individually in newspaper? Tally, When you ignore them will you just water them once when initially planted or will you water them on a regular basis even if it takes several months for them to come back to life? Or, will you just let natural rain be their water? I never know what to do when I get any new bulb, I just pot them up, water them, let them dry out for a week or so and them give a little water every week or so until they start growing! Most of the time it works, but now and then I'll get some rot started on one! Of course, when working with older bulbs, I usually unpot them late fall, store them in a60 degree room for anywhere from 2 to 4 months, they usually let me know when they are ready. I'm probably over thinking this scenario and making a problem where there isn't one?? What are the rest of you going to do?? Donna

Nice looking tree. Like Centurion said, it depends based on the variety. Some varieties only produce figs on the previous year's growth. Some only produce figs later in the season and have trouble ripening them when the tree is still young. But there are lots of varieties that will ripen main crop figs on young plants like yours. The fact that it has been growing strong is a good sign. It also helps that you're in a long season climate. There's a good chance you could get some figs from it this year. Keep your fingers crossed. The figs will first start to show as a small bump above where the leaf attaches to the branch. Usually it takes about 2 to 3 months from when that bump first appears to when there are ripe figs. Good luck. Joe

Going to wait a little bit before the dog gets her walk, but I am on my way out to perform surgery on snowlady. She needs a neck job. We're getting 3 inches starting tomorrow afternoon. Rush hour will be a real mess. They will put sand on the roads, and, I bet they let folks out of work and school early. Events will be cancelled, the whole town will shut down!
They say it might even go so far as the coast, which would be really unusal, for Charleston.

Well, they are NOW saying 2-4 inches, but more to the SOUTH.

Snowing in Gulf Shores, AL right now, and that's on the coast.

We here in central Mississippi are experiencing an accumulation of snow. It is supposed to get up to 4 inches. In my 70 years I have never seen that much snow in Mississippi. My oddball husband won't go to bed. He is sitting up in his recliner in his clothes, in case the power goes off he won't have to get up and get dressed!!! Go figure!!! It is 2:30 in the morning, I can't sleep because of the lights being on. I think I just might put him out of his misery!! LOL

I'm in Panama City Florida and they are saying we will get some snow too!

Central Texas--a skiff of snow on Thursday, and schools are opening late today. I am going to pitch a Texas-sized hissy fit. I did not move to Texas to see snow, in any amount! When Baton Rouge and Mississippi get snow, something is seriously out of kilter.
It's cold and wet outside, possibly with icy patches, and I have to bundle up and check on the hens. They're in a warm coop, plenty of food and water, and I have to check on them. Who's the fool?
