Congratulations Canada/US Girls Hockey!!!

I don't want the NHL much at all, but this was a fantastic game!!! The girls were just terrific.

It was a well played game and both teams should be extremely proud.

Probably one of the best hockey games we've seen in a long time, and not just from a women's team.

That's how we raise 'em down here- you ALWAYS open doors for ladies (and even a few gents now & then, if you're first in line). Now he asks before he opens doors.."Uh, are you liberated or southern?" LOL! So I hope that DH replenished your wine supply for you. Sounds like you had quite the day & you certainly need some relaxation! Laura~ The bird watching sounds like a great activity for the family. We have TONS of birds here- chickadees, titmice, cardinals (hundreds of these!!), wrens, bluebirds (funny time of year for them!)...so we will definitely have much to report! :o) The weekend is almost here! First, congratulations to Canada for their very gracious hosting of the Olympics and their ability to take many glitches in stride. As for those girls, I think it was bad judgment to celebrate there, the beer and cigars should have been left in the locker room and then there would be no contention. However, girls that age very often display poor judgment, as do girls/women/boys/men of all ages. Of all the things that happen in the Olympics, that's one of the issues that didn't cause me to do any more than shake my head and think that Ashley probably would have done the same thing. Duane, when I got married my husband made me start learning the Wings by their numbers. I never got to double digits. But I did learn to name the original 6 teams! Go Wings! (though we won't really start watching until the playoffs...Gotta get through College Basketball... and since we are nearer Bruins country now, that's ok with me) We have friends/distant relatives who work for the franchise, and have seen some fun pics of them with the Stanley Cup. And I used to work at Bagley and 2nd and remember craning out my window (on the 22nd floor) to see the Wings drive down Woodward on one of the championship parades. I do miss Hockeytown. That was the year a giant inflated squid/octopus hung from the top of the Fisher Building... I could see it from my office... regarding those cats around town, these days we're routing for a really good Lions Draft Pick, LOL!

Congratulations! My neighbor just had a new baby Wednesday and my niece is expecting in June - babies are a poppin! This will be the first "great" grandchild on my side of the family - there are 5 on hubby's side already. My mom is the only grandparent left and she's very excited about being a great grandmother. My neice and my two kids are the only grandchildren on my side of the family as well, so this is a treat. My kids aren't even close to settling down so this will be the only baby for a while!! Spring is a wonderful time to have a baby as well! Enjoy her! I'm going to try to get a little done in the yard tomorrow if the weather cooperates. It's still too cold to get anything done besides cleaning up leaves and stuff, but that has to be done as well. I'm making a huge new veggie bed this year so I have to get going and get as much done as I can, when I can! I might have bitten off more than I can chew with all the seeds I have going, but I guess I'll soon find out! My girlfriend is coming over tomorrow night to fix some jewelry - I have lots of bits and bobs for jewelry making. I want to make some bread in the morning, get some done in the yard, then get back in the house to make dinner for when she comes over. I made some home made mushroom ravioli at Christmastime and I've yet to actually have any. That's what I plan on having for dinner. It's going to pour out Sunday, so I'll probably work on the scrapbook my SIL asked me to do up for my niece's baby shower. I've never worked on one before, but it's coming out nice considering I'm just fumbling my way thru! It's amazing the stuff they have for that now - I ended up buying a couple books and plan on re-doing the books I made for my own kids who are now 21 and 19! I just had photo albums stuffed with all their baby stuff. They have so many cute things now, even tho they're adults I still want to re-do them just to have for myself! Lisa

It was a great game! My heart goes out to the American team as they looked so unhappy at the end and receiving their medals. They should be very proud of themselves. Olympic silver medals are a fantastic achievement. They played well throughout all their games.

Heather, I completely agree. They have NOTHING to be ashamed of or sad about. I wish they were happier.

These 2 teams are strong, worthy opponents and players. To keep the score tied, and low is amazing. It's not like it was a huge shut-out.

It was such a close game that I couldn't watch it. Well done both teams!

I watched the medal presentation, what a difference in the team's spirit. The Switzerland team was in joy of being able to receive the bronze metal. Whereas, the US team was sobbing to receive the silver medal.

They could at least smile with the presenters when receiving the medals. I noticed Julie Chu was smiling and appreciative but most didn't and it made them looked disrespectful.

I agree, the US team should have been proud still.

It was one of the best games I have ever seen. When it was 2-0, I didn't lose faith but I had to depart from the game. I came back for the last four minutes, wow! Shannon was amazing!

Both teams are winners in my books.

Actually, all the teams should be proud of themselves. The interesting thing for the Canadian/American teams is that many of them play together on their college teams. They should all be proud.

I was in a local coffee shop (I'm in B.C.) when the came ended and all of a sudden I heard this very loud "NOOOOOO" followed by a little carrying on with some laughter. The woman who shouted was an American who was following the game on something (maybe her phone) and who was very disappointed in the result. As she left the coffee shop she said to everyone there "Congratulations on a well-played game" I thought it was very cute.
