We sleep with the window open year round. (except in the dead heat and humidity of summer). We are on the 7th floor apartment and can control our own heat. The heat is "off" in the bedroom, but we can't turn it completely off. It starts at the bedroom end to heat the rest of the apartment.

We have at least one window cracked year round. It isn't often that we get to freezing but it does happen but I do not like the idea of being in a room asleep knowing the house is completely closed up. When the weather permits, we open two of our bedroom windows. We live in a house and of course it is at ground level but the bedroom side is about 5 or 6 feet off of the ground so we feel safe. Heck half the time we forget to lock the door ...

This is precisely why we have separate bedrooms! LOL Well that and considering that there were 2 people and 3 cats in a queen sized bed, and Dean wasn't able to turn over one because of this!

Anyway, yes, I usually have my window open...summertime with the AC on I don't...UNLESS it is stormy weather then I will in case a storm comes up and the whistle blows. I have my door propped open on both sides so the cats can come and go. I have my heat vent closed off in the winter. I would rather have a ton of blankets and cold room!

Because of crime issues I keep all the windows shut and locked while sleeping, but I sure would like to have them open.

Old house is 2 stories, bedrooms on the second floor

New house is a rancher, so our bedroom is ground level.

As we live in the NE, we don't open windows in the winter--we have storm windows in every window of both houses to help insulate against the cold. But in the summer, once it gets warm enough to open the windows, they're open continuously, night and day, unless it's raining in. I like that the 'new' house has very deep overhangs so we don't often have to shut the windows even in the rain.

Will say, it's been so nice this week, and I've been painting, papering and doing some heavy cleaning, so I've been glad that this year DH left a couple of screens in the sun porch. Have had those windows open during the day for the past 2 days. Lovely to get some fresh air in the house!

I have a deck that BR door opens onto,, and up in the treetop, so I sleep with my door open, all year long. Desk is also screened. Cracked just a bit in the winter, with a box fan going.

Gotta have my fresh air.

I have storm windows so I am not able to open my windows in the winter but in the spring, summer and fall I love sleeping with my bedroom window open. I love sleeping in a cold room with fresh air and warm blankets.
When I lived in CA, some of the places I lived just had a sliding glass door in the bedroom, no window, so I left the slider open a few inches. Mscippy, I can't imagine living in such a high crime area that the window can't be left open at night.

Bedroom on second floor...the window has to be open, the colder the temp the better...windows closed only on hot summer nights.

My bedroom is on the 2nd floor, and I can hardly wait till I can open my window at night, maybe late March or early April. if we lived on the first floor, I wouldn't be able to do it because the windows are to accessible to prowlers. Dottie

I'm like Linda. I'm afraid to sleep with the windows open, even though I would like to. Crime is a big issue in our little area of the world.

We have air conditioning, so the windows are always kept closed. Usually in the spring on a nice warm windy day, I open all the windows to air the house out.

I always had a window open until we moved to this house--we don't have window screens here. I just haven't figured that out yet but we are getting screens this spring. I even had the window open in Alaska or Pennsylvania in the winter time. I only opened them about an inch in the winter time. I have to be able to breathe and I just can't in a closed up house. We do keep the vent in the bedroom closed off whether the window is open or not.

Bedroom windows are open in the summer,closed in the winter. Our bedroom window is a huge triple slider with both ends that open. It's a pita to have open and still have it covered for visual privacy. We've considered replacing it with two or three narrower windows either casement or double hung so we can use blinds or shades that are independent of one another. The view is a side fence just 4 foot away so we really don't need the big single. Egress issues are also something we need to consider. We may just replace it with a sliding door even though it seems silly for the space.

Every single window in our house is not a standard size for changing out window coverings without paying an arm and a leg. If we remodel my rule will be no windows wider than 36". You can always have more windows without the huge sheet of glass.

Year round. The sound of the fountain in the pond outside lulls me to sleep.

I am very claustrophobic and prefer to have the windows open unless it is rainy and windy.

Our bedrooms are on the second floor. We sleep with the windows open in the summer and once in a while open in the winter.

My DH will die first. He says he "can't breathe" w/ the window open, which puzzles me b/c he stays outside a lot and tends to breathe just fine. Men!!! I love open windows and open them when he's not around.

I can't have the windows open because of my allergies.

I'm the exact opposite of Vannie's husband. I love the windows open. I hate being shut up inside a house with windows closed, unless it is cold or raining. I also don't like a/c and don't have or want it.

I have no privacy issues here, because I live far off the road and no neighbors.

We have a door that opens into the back yard, which when it is nice, we leave it open. When it is hot, though...it is closed tight as a drum.

Yeah, it's a bummer. We actually live in a nice area, but we are just a few minutes away from Memphis and it's just not worth taking a chance. I do have windows open during the day time and also have the back door propped open when the weather is nice. We have a screened in back porch to keep insects out and have a doggie door out there for the dogs to come and go as they please.
I miss the good ol' days before crime became so prevelant in Memphis. We had a big attic fan and along with open windows the temperature was so nice at night time.

If it were up to me the window would be open a crack year round.
Our bedroom is on ground level. Windows open mostly in spring and fall. Summer is too humid and winter to cold, DH's opinion!
I love as much fresh air as I can get.
