I haven't tried them, but it sounds like something I could become addicted too! LOL

I've nmde deep fried olives and they were fantastic! Dredge in flour, then beaten egg, then flavored bread crumbs, then deep fry.

Roll it in seasoned flour or cornmeal toss it in the Big Daddy Fry...Wha La! Magnifico! Dip in Ranch Dressing. I've never had fried pickles but I would definitely try them.

Next is Fried Mozzarella Cheese rolled in Garlic Bread Crumbs with Marinara Sauce.

Those are one of my favorites. You can use most any batter. This is the first recipe I ever used to make them and other fried vegetables. It's more of a tempura batter.

French Fried Appetizers
¾ cup cornstarch
¼ cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
¼ tsp. pepper
½ cup water
1 egg, slightly beaten

In a bowl, stir together first 5 ingredients. Add water and egg; stir until smooth. Pour 1 quart ( about ) corn oil into a large skillet to a depth of ½ inch, filling no more than 1/3 full. Heat over medium heat to 375°. Dip 4 cups of pickle slices or spears that have been drained or you can put vegetables such as sliced carrots, onion rings, sliced zucchini etc. or 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts cut into 1" cubes a few at a time, into the batter. Stir the batter occasionally. Carefully add vegetables or chicken to hot vegetable oil a few pieces at a time. Fry 2 to 3 minutes, turning once until golden brown and crisp. Drain on paper towel.

Thanks mscippy for the wonderful recipe, and then the mention of it being a tempura batter...which I just Googled.

Now I have your recipe and will have lots of others to try.

Now...wonder what I have I can fry up...pickles, potato slices, ham chunks...

Sue I am remember a couple years ago at the state fair just about everything was deep fried. First I'd ever heard of deep fried Snickers! LOL Think they had ice cream and of course the tastey deep fried cheese curds!

Never had it but I heard breaded and deep fried cauliflower is good.

I was watching Diners,Drive-ins and Dives and at one place they battered and deep fried a cheeseburger. Now I think that is kind of going over the top...but there were raves over how good it was.

I love fried pickles but have only had the dill chips not spears. Most places serve them with ranch dressing and it's ok. Try them with honey-mustard dressing. To die for.

We have a place here the Dog House that deep fries hot dogs. I stopped eating fried food a couple of years ago, but I do love a piece of fried dough at the fair.

I have only tried them once but I think they were frozen because the batter was oily and soggy. I think done right they would be good, although (other than french fries) I don't eat a lot of fried food - too greasy for me and upsets my stomach.

I've had deep-fried pickle chips at Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurant here. They are addicting!

Sounds interesting. I would definitely give it a try though I think I would like sweet midgets more. I watched Paula Deen cooking show on the Food Channel yesterday and she deep fried everything including pastry wrapped cheesecake!

I tried them a few months ago at a casino cafe in West Virginia and they were good! I would
like to try fried califlower and I have also had fried pastry wrapped cheesecake dribbled with
strawberry syrup. TALK about something delicious, you must try the cheesecake!

I guess you could count me out. I don't like deep fried veggies. I will eat tempura occasionally but it seems a waste of a good veggie.

Deep fried things on my list are prawns,fish and chips,french fries,egg rolls,crab puffs and Monte Christo sandwiches. That's about all.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE fried pickles and I don't eat fried foods!!! (well....I guess I do, don't I?) A place here serves them with a horseradish sauce that is to die for as it compliments the flavor of the pickle. I googled them a while back and had a recipe that called for dill, bread crumbs and I can't remember what else at the moment; but I did try them and I do remember that the breading stuck until dropped in the fryer...the batter didn't stick very well.
We also have a place nearby that sells food to resturants and they do have them by the boxful frozen and I did call about them a while back and they were around $36.00 per box if I do recall right; but I didn't buy as I would have ended up eating the whole box by myself!!! I would love to find a recipe for them also just to make small batches when I get a craving for them.

The secret is to let the pickles drain well...then pat them dry. I LOVE deep fried dill pickles. I used to make them at the drive in I worked at as a teen (many, many years ago). The only way I like dill pickles actually.

If I lived with Paula Dean, I'd be dead in 3 months. LOL! Cause I'd eat all the fried stuff.

Have you ever had Fried Ice Cream? Really ummmmm. I had it at a Mexican Restaurant in Redlands, California.

I had Fried Spaghetti in San Antonio, Texas. It was a snack at a bar table. I thought it was a Zen Decoration. When I first saw other people eating it I freaked.
