Can someone tell me how to print out an envelope using OpenOffice?

Every time I get a new computer, there is a new wordprocessing program. I had just gotten used to Wordperfect and then had my hard drive replaced and was given OpenOffice.

I have typed a letter with an inside address and now I want to print an envelope with my return address in the upper left and the addressee's in the middle. Just can't seem to find the command for that function.

IN Write, click on the Question mark on the toolbar (Open office help), and in the search box, type in envelope, then select insert.

All the instructions are there.

Thanks for your response, Monica, but no luck.

Following those instructions, all I get is a separate document with the envelope information which, when printed out, comes out on a sheet of paper and not the envelope. It does recognize my printer, and I do have the envelope inserted in the front.

I did try to follow the print instructions and envelope placement instructions.

I have never used a WP program with such complicated envelope-printing instructions. With other programs, I only had to insert the envelope in the front of the printer and click "print envelope."

call your telephone people or internet server. They can walk you through it. Our phone company will send out their telephone guy and he'll help you. It is most likly an easy fix. Our server has a program that I use. The only mail I get is people I have on my "allways allow list" Otherwise it all goes into my "spam" folder. Then I check it for other email I want or just delete it. not sure if I explained it verywell but I'd first call your telephone co.

On the upper right hand corner of the screen below the X, you will see three dots: Click that and a screen will pop up. Scroll down that screen to Settings. Click on Settings and scroll down to Font Size. Click on the triangle on that line and change it to Medium.

Just for the record! And to extrapolate on what Maifleur has contributed. When you "save as" a photo or any piece that you find on the internet that you want to use for your own or post to a thread...please...change the name or number of the photo or piece to your own name [i.e. "winters woof"] or number [winter 123] when you "save as". Otherwise...you're stealing bandwidth and that is not only technically illegal...it's considered very bad manners by the internet community as a whole. Some copyrighted material is coded so it won't allow linking but not all. Some sites are careful with their material and they move it around from time-to-time. If you saved it and didn't "own it" by giving it a new name...wherever you used it...the vision will suddenly disappear from view. Read through the info linked below. Yes, those are both good options. As long as you can save your existing data in QIF form, you should be fine. I used to use Quicken for Mac, which always lagged years behind the windows version. As a result I had my accounting set up in a rather primitive way and I found that for me Checkbook pro works just fine, but I don't need to track investments or get budget suggestions or use multiple currencies. I had no trouble importing data into the trial of Banktivity. It was a bit of a bore getting the categories and all set up properly, but I was able to do it and everything worked well. Since I was going from an exported QIF I have to assume that would be the same whether coming from windows or whatever.

Sounds like it's feeding from the wrong tray, and that's a printer setting. Check your printer options.

I use Open Office, and a Brother printer...no problems printing out any envelopes.

It's been a long time since I've printed envelopes using the program itself. Usually I use a template and go that route. I did find the following link and noticed it said "Skipping steps 6 through 12 will cause you no end of problems." Hope it's of some help to you.

Here's another link but it's for an older version. Maybe it'll be similar?

This search has a youtube demo too, but I didn't watch it.

The problem is compounded with different printers, different envelopes and the like . The printer needs to know where and how to expect the envelope and whether it'll be face up or face down, etc. I used to use some scrap paper to test it to make sure it didn't print on the back of the envelope, upside down or something. Plus sometimes my old printers wouldn't always draw the envelopes through smoothly.
