Wall prep after Wall Paper Removal
Comments (2)If you patch directly over the torn drywall, the patching compound will likely bubble and then you will have to cut out the bubbles and patch again, repeating this process until there are no more bubbles. Using the Gardz will seal those areas so that they will not bubble when patched. It is also important to lock down any residual wallpaper paste before patching or painting. Gardz does that as well. To me, the Dirtex is overkill because if you have stripped wallpaper you have already done several rinses on the walls....they are clean....See Morewall paper removal at my wits end!
Comments (14)We purchased a home that had wallpaper in almost every room and some rooms had wallpaper on the ceiling. I used the paper tiger (to score the wallpaper) and sprayed with vinegar and water. I found the trick to this method was to spray it on and leave it for about 30 minutes in order to penetrate and soak into the base layer. It would then scrape off rather easily. The home was older but not sure how long the wallpaper had been up. Good luck. I feel your pain. I recently tried to strip the front door and door surround on our 1872 built home and it was agonizing. I ended up hiring a professional and it was money well spent I have to admit....See MoreKitchen update... thought I knew what I was doing... I DON’T

BTW, I would swap the fridge and the tall pantry cabinet so that your fridge doesn't open into that wall (and so the pantry cabinet isn't between your fridge and your landing space for prep items)....See MoreRemoving popcorn from already textured plaster walls - bad idea?
